  • In this video I led a refresher training class with John aboard his 52’ #hatteras motor yacht. We did a full systems walkthrough before we left the dock, an engine room inspection and 4 docking exercises through the day. I was able to fly the drone for some awesome bonus footage. The Hatteras 52 CPMY is a classic yacht that will be around for a long time. Their owners love and spoil these boats for decades which is why this one is in such great shape. Thanks for watching! Excellent video I can see that a lot of people that own boats have lack of knowledge on operating a vessel good job captain. You have a lot of patience.

Its a good practice to have a refresh course by a qualified captain specially in that type of vessel. Its obvious the owners had no idea to deal with some of those issues. A seaworthy vessel can be a difference between life and death out there, good videos captain.

This is a great video as it applies to many 40-55 foot MYs. Good to refresh if the system operations are not "automatic" in your memory. I agree, people who do not see their boat often are well served by hiring someone to refresh them from time to time.

All that milkshake in the coolant is a big concern I would think. I wouldn’t be running that boat like that until it’s determined where it’s coming from, and especially if there is a chance it’s getting into the engine oil. Hopefully just a cooler or something going one way just into the coolant and not the reverse.

Watching this in my man cave at 1:30 am and got to the alarm section. Wife is asleep 2 floors up, wakes her up thinking it's a fire alarm. 🤦‍♂

Hey cap. Enjoying your videos. Been boating 40 years. Currently 40 Sea Ray. Heard you say you hit “emergency stop” on the Genny to “ reset” it. Assuming that you are resetting to prime again? What exactly “resets?” Enjoy picking up these little “nuggets”. Thank you.

Is all the power and marina back to pre-hurricane condition….i always tell people it’s a “pre-flight “ checklist. I’ve been using a list for 20 years pre departure…They would make sure they do if flying at 30,000 feet…I’m shocked how many people just turn keys and go. They don’t even bring engines to temp…..lol…glad the mechanic ran the generator for 15 minutes after putting new pump on….if you were not there at us a $500 service call to be told air was in the lines. Thorough video

I've boated those waters many times. I was hoping you guys were going to go out Longboat Pass into open water. That stretch of the ICW can get pretty congested with boats.

Thank god there are "coaches" that can help people with more money than common sense. God love the part time boater..."we'll visit our boat 3x a year and love boating, A".... As the Captain of a 60+ vessel these type of folks scare the crap out of me. They know enough to be deadly! They knew enough to get someone to assist but you can tell they have not operated many boats previously. Meaning going from a 18' to 25' to a 40'.... an example is with twin power plants, you center the helm and steer with the prop control. He wants to steer with the helm.... I don't wan to be a hater as anyone that has the calling to water knows.... but there is a safe way, not only for the lives on that vessel but others near by. He hit the pilings enough to move the finger!!! If I was moored on the other side of that finger I would have ben pissed. Clearly more boat than knowledge. Scary these days when the pocket outweighs smarts. Wholly F__k!!!

That much cranking could lead to water intrusion. Not sure what the manual says but I believe most have a caution against long, repetitive cranking.

Based on the many gallons of oil in the tote box, id venture to say they added oil into the coolant?

Be careful using drones in videos if you dont have a lic faa not playing with drones now. If making money money with it need license and other stuff.
