Warner: “ YOU got into Harvard Law?” Elle: “what, like it’s hard?” Hits so different after you learn that Warner got waitlisted. His face when he realizes she really is smarter than him
also the fact that he has been preparing for it probably his whole highschool life or even most likely his whole life since his family went there, and she only studied and prepared since they broke up 😂😂
@@onlyamberrr9635 I know I’m late but I wanted to add that not only did she get in by her smarts bjt she wasn’t even prepared she had nothing not even a laptop and still got in while he was waitlisted 😂😂😂 oh the irony at the end “if I’m gonna be a senator by the time I’m 30” came back full circle for Warner
Also the realization that you don't always have to be smarter, you can be more creative and resourceful, and determined, and make up the difference. DID she maybe get in by being hot, possibly, but good for her either way, you have to work with what you have. Like the chick she defended, who was like if they think I married him for money, look in his pants lol.
It's also worth noting that she got a 179 on her LCATs. A perfect score is 180. The guidance lady told her "you gotta get a ridiculously high score" and not only did she do it, she got a nearly PERFECT score. Girl's cracked!
What I love about that movie is that they dont make Elle change her ways after she proved everybody wrong. She didnt start wearing turtlenecks etc. or a lot of black - she stayed herself the whole movie showing that you can be hyper feminine AND still be a bad ass, smart lawyer
MarieTheOstrich: I remember watching this with a group of friends back in the day and thinking the same thing. But, also how Elle is a really interesting representative of the East Coast - West Coast dichotomy of the people of the East Coast being serious and smart and those in the West Coast being frivolous and dumb. However, West Coast Ivies are now on par and competitive with the East Coast Ivies. Stanford University often scores as high or higher than Harvard in quality of education... though that's generally because Harvard's sliding, so even Oxford and Cambridge have a turn at outpacing Harvard on occasion on many important scales. Still, the East Coast has been a bastion of learning for Much longer than the West Coast. That's just history. However, it does mean Harvard and the other EC Ivies better watch their backs, because WC universities are trying to eat them for lunch and Harvard can't rely on history and reputation forever. West Siiiide. haha
Elle did change. When she started getting serious, she got an orange laptop and started wearing duller colors. At the end of the movie, though, she realized she didn’t need to change for anyone and accepted herself as she was and showed up to court in her bright pink suit.
The highest you can get on the LSAT is 180. Elle got a 179. So basically a perfect score. Meaning she got only 1 or 2 questions wrong. Just showing how smart she actually is. And with a 179 LSAT any law school would be tripping over themselves to have them enrolled.
Not true. Your LSAT score is only one part of your application. Besides, A LOT of the applicants have extremely high scores, it’s expected that you do, so your high score is not what will set you apart, it’s your mere obligation.
@@thatgirlwearingglasses4133 no it is true. Ask anyone who has went to law school. Elle had a 179 an almost perfect score. I remember going to see this in the cinema with my dad - a lawyer. I was maybe 13/14 at the time and he was not happy about being dragged to see this chick flick. End of film - dad loves it and told me to remember that I can do whatever I want whilst being myself, so cool that it had an effect on him as well as me 🥰
Hayley Dunphy: In "Legally Blonde", Elle won her case because she stayed true to herself and dressed cute. Phil Dunphy: Hayley, this is real life, not an excellent movie.
She was always smart, just not in the traditional way. Like, she was the president of her house, had a degree in fashion and somethings about economics (i dont remenber) which involves a lot of math and history, but people dont realize and think fashion is stupid. also, she had 179 on her LSAT. Long story short, she was always smart, poeple just didnt see it that way.
yeah fashion merchandising would be similar to a business degree in many ways but it has the word "fashion" in it so of course that's something people would chose to ignore/belittle if they don't value anything traditionally feminine
i love how her friends supported her decision to go to harvard, they spent the entire summer helping her study and never doubted that she could make it
I loved that she wore pink in her big moment. Almost always in movies the one that wears pink is the mean one, but here she is the opposite, you cheer for her to be the best.
Elle was always very smart they just downplayed the field of study she was in at the beginning. History of polka dots is supposed to sound ridiculous but it's still a history class it's just specified for her field, like an art major would take an art history class. It's a tailored marketing major, also a lot of the skills in that field would easily transfer to working with clients in a law setting
Exactly! Fashion merchandising? She could literally work as a corporate lawyer for the largest marketing firms in the world… and have a unique perspective. She’d literally be a specialist.
This movie is absolutely amazing. You expect Elle to be the dumb blonde, but she is so exceptionally smart. Warner treats her like an idiot at every turn, even incredulously asking "YOU got into Harvard Law?" and she iconically responds "What, like it's hard?" Elle Woods is an icon. She never gave in to conformity and muted herself for Harvard.
I never understood why people say blondes are dumb. By the way, can you explain me what Warner meant by he gas to be with a Jackie and not a Marilyn, please (I'm french) ?
A.G. De Mada - Warner sees himself as a future John Kennedy. He feels he needs a Jackie (Kennedy) not a Marilyn (Monroe) as a wife for him to be taken seriously & further his political ambitions.
@@a.g.demada5263 yeah there have been lasting rumors that he had an affair with Marilyn Monroe during his presidency. So warner was basically saying Elle is a more a side piece than a wife.

Her sorority sisters were so supportive of her; Helping her get ready for her date, checking in on her after the breakup, and helped with her prepare for Harvard when they saw that's what she really wanted to do AND traveled from CA to be there for her first case. Idk if you guys have seen it or not but "The House Bunny" is a movie that although very different, it also has a really sweet hyper feminine protagonist.

Yup totally agree!! In junior year my school did Legally Blonde the Musical and I played Vivian. I got to have a really different look at the story through her eyes. It kinda changed the whole perspective of her character and kinda Warner's too for me when I rewatch the movie now lol
This movie is a masterclass/masterpiece in demonstrating just how much you can cram into a single, sub 2h script. Think about it, how many subplots are there? Besides Elle going to Harvard and becoming a lawyer, there's the subplots of her and her boyfriend/ex, her new relationship with the grad assistant, the sexual harassment thing with creepy professor, her new friendship with Vivian and the misunderstanding they had with the professor, her relationship with Paulette, Paulette's relationship with the UPS guy, Paulette's relationship with her ex, the whole court trial! (And let's face it, Bend & Snap is its own subplot.) Geez, you'd think there's no way this could possibly work. But it does, nothing feels forced or short-changed. This story is amazing.
I love this movie so much! She defied the stereotypes and proved she was incredibly smart and kind. I wrote a whole paper about this movie and the stereotypes of women, especially blondes. It really proves to not judge a book by its cover. Even a blond woman can be intelligent. Perfectly done too! She never confirmed to society and stayed herself! QUEEN
I've heard the theory that Elle was Warner's side piece in the beginning. He took so little time to propose to Vivian it's very possible they were seeing each other while Warren was seeing Elle. I really like the second movie. It has a very similar story arc, but there's like 100 dogs, so I recommend checking it out.
We don't know how long Elle was studying before she got into Harvard, so we can't really be sure that they were already seeing each other. It probably wasn't more than a year though, which is awfully fast to get engaged, so I think he just isn't really committed to his relationships in general, even when his girlfriend is "serious".
The cool thing about the LSAT is that, although it's a monster exam, it's based entirely upon logic and reasoning. So although Elle's major wasn't impressive on its face, the most important thing was her potential which is what the exam measures.
I can attest that this is one of the most accurate law school movies ever. Not in a literal sense, but it captures the emotional essence of law school: the pettiness, the personalities, the mean girls mechanics and Jr. High politics, the crazy competition and insane reading assignments.
This is late but I love that y'all said "I kinda wish Vivian had gone in and said something". That's my only issue with this movie - that Vivian went through law school and immediately assumed Elle was using the professor vs the other way around. The most I could see another woman doing in that case is saying the way she dressed gave him the "wrong impression" but the leap she takes is pretty jarring. It's one of the things the musical fixed - in that version, Vivian is the one who convinces her to stay and Warner is the one who jumps to the wrong conclusion. It's wayyyy more believable! Especially after they just started forming a friendship and were meant to be moving into the same corner. I recommend the musical if you can! There's a version that was played on MTV that's really great. Enjoying the reactions a lot so far!
I'm loving the way you guys are loving the legend, the myth, the God amongst men, David Kidney. Also, my mom watched Legally Blonde like 4 times in the hospital while she was in labor with me and that's why she named me Vivian

8:49 she got a 179, which is a new perfect score. But I’m pretty sure this movie was made before they added the written portion, although I’m sure she would’ve done good on that too.
I highly recommend watching the old money/new money class dynamics analysis of this movie, it's utterly fascinating and casts a whole new light on so many things -- for example, the implication is that Elle was the "other woman" to Warner and didn't know it, and that he and Vivian were expected by their families to get together and WERE together, which explains why Vivian hated Elle so much at first
This may sound dumb but this movie actually helped me a lot during my teenage years. I was in conflict because every teen movie I saw showed hyper feminine women/women who care about their looks and fashion are shallow, dumb and/or mean. But in real life, if you don't care about your looks as a teen girl, you will be alienated. I loved video games, loved scince fiction, hated makeup and had no interest in dating so I thought I was too weird to be seen as a normal girl. But I loved fashion, romance movies, dolls and cute things so I thought I would be seen as shallow and dumb if I was open about those interests. I was insecure because I thought I was in a lose-lose situation and that I had to be one or the other: masculine or feminine. I know it seems dumb but when you grow up with stereotypes of "mean feminine girl" and "down to earth girl next door", that is what you start to believe. This movie showed me that I don't have to downplay my femininity to be seen as smart and to be taken seriously. Obviously, a lot of people subconsciously associate feminine traits with dumbness but I learned to be way more comfortable with myself even if people think about me that way. Elle Woods is such an idol to young girls.
It’s one of the best showcases of having the best of both worlds. Putting your foot into the careers men were dominating but also enjoying the feminine things girls get out down for liking yet judged for not liking as a child - fashion, cosmo, pink, hair, etc.

Fun fact: The actor who plays David Kidney is Oz Perkins, the son of Anthony Perkins who played Norman Bates in Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. This was the reaction that made me subscribe! :)
The scene where the pool guy’s boyfriend yells “you bitch!” Still makes me laugh. Please also react to the sequel it’s actually really good and brings up how laws are made but makes it hella entertaining. Plus it brings up animal testing without making it too serious and depressing. I also appreciated the Snap Cup and using the Delta Nu hotline to sign the petition they were fighting for. Plus Bruiser gets a boyfriend.
You guys are the ones that pointed out to me that Warner is Alaric and I'm finally getting around to your reaction to this movie. I'm so ashamed I didn't realize it myself😂

Reese is such a versatile actress. I love this movie and her role. I'd recommend you all watch her in Walk The Line. She's phenomenal as June Carter and it's an incredible movie. Thanks for this fun reaction video 🎉
I will always defend Vivian because Elle came to Harvard to steal her boyfriend. Warner had broken up with Elle and as douchey as he was he had the right to make that decision, it was Elle who couldn't accept it and made a plan to get him back, she didn't want to be a lawyer and didn't take it serious initially. Elle was objectively wrong to do that and if the story wasn't told from her perspective we would probably see her as a creepy stalker ex. Vivian later realized that Elle was actually sweet and that Warner was a dumbass but it explains why she was so quick to believe that Elle and Callahan were having an affair because it fit Elle's previous behavior of trying to get a man at Harvard, Vivian thought that Elle had just fooled her with a nice girl act and that's understandable.
True, that explains Vivian being icy early on. Still, the costume party prank was mean. And I feel like it become clear pretty quickly (like within their 1st semester) that Elle is actually really smart, interested in law, and not thinking about Warmer at all lol. But Vivian could never let it go, partly bc she was insecure with her relationship with Warner and maybe even herself. Can't blame her fully for that, but yeah.
I like Vivian. Was she petty? Yup. Can’t blame her, since Elle was a threat to her. That little bonding moment they had shows She would get along with Elle if it wasn’t for the boyfriend.
yeah there is a saying that goes like "You are never the villain of your own story." Both girls thought the other was in the wrong when they could both either be seen as the villain or the victim
Philipp Schmidt: That is a really reasonable viewpoint that a lot of people won't like because, as you said, the viewer is conditioned to side with the prescribed protagonist and often put themselves in the place of the main character. Because of that, they tend to side with the protagonist even when other characters -- including the antagonist -- have a point of view or reason for what they do that's completely logical and understandable. Thank you for your great insight
Not to mention, it's implied that Warner actually was having a long-distance relationship with Vivian way before he went to Harvard and that he thus always saw Elle as a side piece; his comparison between Elle and Marilyn Monroe compared to Jackie was... deliberate? On point? I'm not sure he's smart enough to make an apt comparison like that, but, well, maybe he's just less smart than everyone else in this movie.
Warner: “ YOU got into Harvard Law?”
Elle: “what, like it’s hard?”

She was also in Brokeback Mountain
The cool thing about the LSAT is that, although it's a monster exam, it's based entirely upon logic and reasoning. So although Elle's major wasn't impressive on its face, the most important thing was her potential which is what the exam measures.
What a hoot watching three young dudes watch a feel-good chick movie. You guys are great.
Not sure if this has been suggested or if all of you have already seen it, but "A Knight's Tale" with Heath Ledger is amazing!
It's the "How the turns have tabled" for me haha 42:50
Elle woods is just iconic my favorite movie growing up
I love when dudes watch and appreciate Lgeally Blonde. It's so special to me as a women who's struggled with being taken seriously.
“Quick math huh?” Bahaha too good! Love your reactions fella’s, thanx for another awesome 1! Much love from Australia 😉💚🇦🇺
I'm loving the way you guys are loving the legend, the myth, the God amongst men, David Kidney. Also, my mom watched Legally Blonde like 4 times in the hospital while she was in labor with me and that's why she named me Vivian
I wonder how many people named their daughter’s Elle because of this movie?
fun fact : one of elle's best friends from her sorority is the actress who plays cassie's and lexi's mom on euphoria
Great movie that has aged SO well. And the reaction was so cute at times. Love the contrast between you guys.
This is the best reaction to this movie I've ever seen! I love how much you loved David Kidney 😂
Hahaha, love the David Kidney love!! Great movie, love that she stayed true to herself throughout.
I love how closely you follow the characters and how invested you are in everyone… it’s really endearing. Keep it up! ❤
11:25 I've been re-learning Italian from scratch for the past four years. Learning a new language requires studying pretty much every day, but you're always coming across something new. Idioms and phrases are especially interesting.
I love this movie. I especially appreciate that her friends supported her throughout 😊
Idk why but the memory of renting this from Blockbuster on VHS when it came out is locked into my brain lol. Such a fun movie and a great message. Plus Brusier is adorable. Btw the sequel is worth a watch too. 💖
Chuck saying "You bitch!" is still my favorite part lmao.
"Legally Blonde (2001)" is such a comfort movie.
i know i always comment this, but y'all made my day with this one!! so excited to grab a snack and settle in and watch with y'all. i just know you probably loved this movie! 💗
We appreciate your kind words ❤️
8:49 she got a 179, which is a new perfect score. But I’m pretty sure this movie was made before they added the written portion, although I’m sure she would’ve done good on that too.
38:12 - Okay, that Titanic line killed me. XD
MOVIE RECOMMENDATIONS:
- Jawbreaker (1999)
- Rage Carrie 2
- She's All That (1999)
- Not Another Teen Movie
not another teen movie reaction from them would be PERFECT 🤣
12:56 Rob sounded just like owen wilson 😂
Glad you guys enjoyed this! Would also like to recommend courtroom comedy “My Cousin Vinny”. It’s another classic.
9:38 ngl that colonist comment got me cackling
This movie is perfect. A 2000s classic
These kind of movies are so nostalgic for me it’s so early 2000s love me some Reese Witherspoon she’s a great actress
I highly recommend watching the old money/new money class dynamics analysis of this movie, it's utterly fascinating and casts a whole new light on so many things -- for example, the implication is that Elle was the "other woman" to Warner and didn't know it, and that he and Vivian were expected by their families to get together and WERE together, which explains why Vivian hated Elle so much at first
8:14 Agreed! I think that's low-key one of the greatest things about this movie, it shows the importance of having a strong support system.
@@hiimsky4381 Yes that is what I am trying to achieve rn too. I am studying to become an engineer while also enjoying sewing big frilly skirts and making cute embroideries.
@@denizkaragullu6239 I wish the best for you on those goals!
@@hiimsky4381 thank you so much!
Watching three guys watch Legally Blonde is priceless.
Saying he is gay cause he knew the shoes, somewhat crude stereotyping, though when Brooke said he left a Cher tape in the pool house... I was like "yeah.. yeah... he's 'family'"
Every time I need to get motivated to study or go to work, this is one of the movies I put on.
“Oh have the turns have tabled” i want that on a shirt now😂😂😂
Also I'm soo glad you guys love David as much as I do. He's just an unsung hero!
The boys know their boys! David Kidney is a low-key Chad. 💪
Such a classic movie, a fave from my teen years!
That thing about watching foreign tv shows to learn a language is a real thing.
I've watched so many Chinese dramas during and since COVID, I know lots of phrases now and can even tell when the captions are slightly wrong.
Only problem is that I watch period and fantasy dramas so I can't use much of it in everyday conversation 🤭
This other channel I watch is called SebScreen and he just watched this movie for the first time too. Love that more people are finding it.
I kid you not I’m laughing so hard at Paulette’s reaction to the UPS guy cause I’ve had the exact same experience and the UPS guy when he left did exactly the same thing but said “have a nice day” while smiling at me and closing my door. My heart swooned so I get this part now and it’s 10x funnier for me 😂
Thanks, Bryce! Thanks, Rob! Thanks, Zuff! ⚖ I'm glad your headline highlighted the "Bend and Snap" line. The Broadway musical retelling of this tale has a whole song dedicated to it! #ReelTime #RobertLuketic #LegallyBlonde
Why I love this movie over the musical. So many important story arcs and themes were missed in the musical. This movie is seriously a classic
20:40 Zuff 😂😂
Elle Woods is my hero. I’ve always loved Reese - look forward to you guys reviewing Legally Blonde 2.
I loved your reaction to this movie, its such a mood. Can't wait until you guys watch part 2.
Also... I love your slight/minor annoyances with each other during reactions like the eyerolls and stares, def reminds me of my friends and I and shows how close you guys are.
Literally love this movie with my entire heart, love the message plus the sequel is one of the few sequels that is actually good
I don’t see enough reactors react to the legally blonde musical pro shot as well - you definitely should!! Even if u don’t record it, it’s amazing (and, in my opinion, better than the movie)
Check out the channel, Legal Eagle. A real lawyer reacts to movies like Legally Blonde, The Paper Chase, A Few Good Men, ect. He's really interesting.
It wasn't that she transferred its the fact the she spent her senior year of undergrad getting into Harvard and scoring a nearly perfect score on her lsat
"Gay men know designers, straight men don't". The actor for Professor Callahan is actually gay in real life.
Fun fact: The actor who plays David Kidney is Oz Perkins, the son of Anthony Perkins who played Norman Bates in Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. This was the reaction that made me subscribe! :)
Love the guy on the right. He predicts half of what's going to happen and referenced the "oh no. our table. it's broken" meme. 10/10
You guys have to watch Legally Blonde 2!!!! Legally Blonde 3 is coming soon!!!!
You guys are the ones that pointed out to me that Warner is Alaric and I'm finally getting around to your reaction to this movie. I'm so ashamed I didn't realize it myself😂
Bryce you did not have to say he look like a colonist😭
I was searching for that comment 🥲 really unnecessary joke
"you got that right Miss Rosick!" 🤣
21:13 that is a hint to the song in the musical. She starts singing is that my name up on that list…. Remember when we spent spring breakIn the hot tub every night?!🎶
Reese is such a versatile actress. I love this movie and her role. I'd recommend you all watch her in Walk The Line. She's phenomenal as June Carter and it's an incredible movie. Thanks for this fun reaction video 🎉
I really enjoy the video! You guys are so fun and your comments are very respectful.
Brett understanding the pun in the title (a blonde woman studying law) is so funny
Also a play on words with "legally blind"
Bruiser is the chillest Chihuahua ever
Not to mention, it's implied that Warner actually was having a long-distance relationship with Vivian way before he went to Harvard and that he thus always saw Elle as a side piece; his comparison between Elle and Marilyn Monroe compared to Jackie was... deliberate? On point? I'm not sure he's smart enough to make an apt comparison like that, but, well, maybe he's just less smart than everyone else in this movie.
omfg Zuff cracks me up so much lmao.
I love your guys' reaction when she cracked the case. Love the excitement.
41:40 Chutney not only confessed to 💀 her father but she should also have been charged with attempted 💀 of Brooke! 😂 Get it Elle!
@user-os2gm6hv9land perjury. She and the pool guy.
I don't know about that T-Rex hands snap posture ,but bend is definitely 98% success 🤣
I think there is no choosing between Kalahan and Warner. Because given time, Warner would turn into another Kalahan.
Fun fact: The guy at 9:45 is the son of the late actor, Anthony Perkins, who played Norman Bates in the movie Psycho.
My mom’s a lawyer and this is one of her favorites
Sooo glad you guys are finally seeing this movie!😄👏
Not sure if you guys recognized Elle’s brunette friend, but she’s Cassie and Lexi’s mom on Euphoria!
