    More About O.I.: Chris revisits the Tiki bar where he made his first ever deal. He wants to celebrate the biggest deal he's ever made by drinking down memory lane. It is early morning and there is only one other customer, Barry, and the Barman.
    Barry is drinking to forget and is in no mood to celebrate anything. Only Chris' offer of free drinks for a week if he can't solve Barry's problems makes Barry change his mind. Barry has a unique problem. He came up with a truly original idea. And he is the only one immune to it. Chris doesn't believe a word of it and is determined to prove Barry a liar and win the bet.

    So I have two things to note : one, this plot reminds me a lot of a short story by Dino Buzzati : Hecatomb at the pentagon, and the physical effect of ideas is a recurring theme in his works, I recommend this author if you like this theme. Secondly, I have a theory o why Jonathan Carnahan from the Mummy didn't die from hearing the idea while Hagrid did : while under the influence of substances, it's easy to see connections that aren't there, therefore you can easily compare two ideas that aren't all that similar, and then once you're sober you wonder what you were thinking (it can remain useful to open up your mind); Hagrid only had one shot while Jonathan was copiously intoxicated therefore could ease up the shock (unfortunately it came with the downside of intoxication : overreaction and acting on impulse). But why was the inventor immune...? this one escapes me.

    • @-0rbital-

    O.I. = "Original Idea"
    This story works well because the short format doesn't require it to have more than its very basic anatomy. The guy at the bar, the bartender, the businessman who walks in, and Chekhov's gun up there behind the bar.
    If this were much longer than it is, it would have to start answering various questions that would dilute its power. The punch line is also hilarious, where the story ends exactly how the man at the bar feared it would, but with a small wrinkle that keeps him in a state of mystery and uncertainty.

      alter has some of the best short films on youtube. high production values, good acting and writing. but what is it with your obsession of calling every film a horror film? this was an excellent film. (didn't like the ending though.) but its NOT a horror film. this is more in line with fantasy and science fiction.
      only about 20% of alter's shorts that i've seen actually qualifies as horror. but you still label them as such. they're still good films. so why misrepresent them as something they're not? just the name ALTER carries enough weight to get people to watch. so why bait them? just label them correctly and people will STILL watch!

    amaze to see how ALTER changing the definition of horror day by day... inspiring...

    • @WatchALTER
      @WatchALTER  3 года назад +61

      We'll definitely agree that this film will require some ALTERing of the definition of horror, however, we thought there was enough "shocks" (since horror is shocks, fear, and disgust) involved AND that it's a great film, that we'll be able to showcase it on our channel.

    • @MADYESTASTUDIOS
      @MADYESTASTUDIOS 3 года назад +11

    Whenever I am impressed beyond words, I still try to find some by raising my index finger and opening my mouth, just hoping something comes out. Most of the times it does. This time, I sat here for a whole minute, mouth open, index finger raised. This short was just awesome. Funny, original [but not that original ;)] and still suspenseful. Definitly one of the best ones out there.
