One of the greatest short films I’ve ever seen, and I mean it. Not only is it one of my new favorites, but that musical score is up there for one of my favorite musical scores in _any_ media. Seriously, it’s perfect.
In a way this short does present the irony on how maybe it's a good thing that there aren't that much wholly original ideas if at all because there's a lot less risk of peoples minds being literally mindblown.
the idea is death, or rather the concept of being death The human mind can't wrap itself around the state it will be in after death. The idea not only describes that state, but does it in such a way that any listeners views it as objective truth and solution for all of their problems, thus the human brain decides to blow itself up to achieve said ideal state. The reason that one guy was immune to the idea was because he was in a state of euphoria, or perfect happiness, as such he had already reached that desired state of contendment.
the ending was so perfect, everyone’s brain explodes cause they can’t handle such an idea and the immune guy blows his brain cause he can’t handle the severity of the whole situation, ending in the same result.. the poor guy had false hope 😭
This is one of the most original and interesting short horror movie I've ever seen. I'm keeping my eyes on the director if he ever comes with a full length.
This is literally my favorite one and I love how the business guy joked that the guy across the bar would shoot himself with a shotgun then the O.I. made him go crazy with the death of the man and he shot himself.
I bet that whoever came up with the idea for this short film probably started with "i need a completely original idea that no one has thought of before, so mind blowingly original that..... it literally .... blows ..... people's ..... MINDS..... Eureka!" Looks around nervously. "Now ..... is it safe to tell someone this idea??"
He could've just left that place instead of killing himself. I feel sorry for him anyways he was having the chance to enjoy his life but he lost it all.
@Hybridgamer 410 I had a few ideas for this, but at the end of the day decided not to explain it. It kind of doesn't matter in the context of the story.
I like the way he says "and then we can spread the idea", implying that he cares more about the idea itself being spread than sparing people their lives. If the idea can be handled by only a handful of people, there's no use risking spreading the idea for the sake of getting it to those few people. People have compared this to an SCP situation, and it does sound like a sort of memetic infohazard, which will absolutely work if this guy continues to search for people immune to the idea. Almost like it's controlling him.
For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow. -Ecclesiastes 1:18 Also, I think the real horror is the idea that humanity can never solve its problems because it's literally incapable of conceiving the answers.
"You deserve to be disturbed" That last line though ..... That actually disturbs your mind thinking about what the actual idea was..... Well played !!! ..... Team
This was such a great story. I have always wondered what our minds can and can't handle and because this story was so good I don't even mind not knowing what his idea was. Knowing it was just so simple and beautiful and would change everything for the better is OK with me. It was very intriguing, great story telling!
Of course, there is no such idea in reality. The human brain cant just "blow up" or otherwise destroy itself due to the firing of synapses or an irreconcilable paradox of internal logic.

Actually... This "second sort" idea is still imperceptible for other people. According to Barry's theory, people can stand an idea only if they already know what is it based on. If they would be told that original_idea2.0, the still wouldn't know the original_idea1.0 and thus they'll die.
To the bartender it would still be an original idea.
For anyone who missed it, the original idea is this story. The original idea is a story about an original idea that kills people.
the more it gets passed on, the more the story goes, the more mind blowing it is and dangerous?
or the more it spreads, the more chance people being immune, the longer it goes without being a new original idea, the less dangerous?

No shame on Crypt TV, they have some amazing storylines and one shots, but ALTER is my favorite because they manage to incorporate stories with creepy monsters, and psychological horror stories. One of the greatest short films I’ve ever seen, and I mean it. Not only is it one of my new favorites, but that musical score is up there for one of my favorite musical scores in _any_ media. Seriously, it’s perfect.
Score by the great Max Aruj!
In a way this short does present the irony on how maybe it's a good thing that there aren't that much wholly original ideas if at all because there's a lot less risk of peoples minds being literally mindblown.
Lmao I love the way he explains how it happened .. "I end up with bits of brain in my beard." Hes so unphased by it now cuz its happened many times.
Im gonna guess this guys idea was so good that it was mindblowing....
Literally
the idea is death, or rather the concept of being death
The human mind can't wrap itself around the state it will be in after death.
Why thank you for this
🤯
🤯
the ending was so perfect, everyone’s brain explodes cause they can’t handle such an idea and the immune guy blows his brain cause he can’t handle the severity of the whole situation, ending in the same result.. the poor guy had false hope 😭
This is absolutely amazing. Love the twists. This could be an actual show on TV if they didn’t end it the way they did!

@Hybridgamer 410 I had a few ideas for this, but at the end of the day decided not to explain it. It kind of doesn't matter in the context of the story.
I loved the film, fantastic job💕 Do you plan on making a part 2?
Someone had this idea long before him, and that’s how they came up with the term “mind blowing”.

Knowing it was just so simple and beautiful and would change everything for the better is OK with me. It was very intriguing, great story telling!
