the call back with the ukelele. you used sound like it was a truly rare and costly effort so when she hears that confirmation of her sanity and fellowship it drops like a hammer. was a masterful use of emotion and senses. that is what cinema should do.

There is so much delight throughout the whole piece, it is hard to choose only one highlight. If I have to, I’ll also choose the ukulele connection at the end. But truly, there are so many brilliant layers- choice of colors; small, humorous details; the balance of purity and rawness; a clear storyline and delicate character development expressed without any spoken word. Truly brilliant!

Honestly, my favorite part was the storyline and the fact that it went how I wanted it to go. He was a great guy, she didn't break his heart, we got to see what happened after purgatory, and they both found peace in the end. Sometimes it's just nice to see a good story play out as you want it to without all the twists and drama.

I think the part that moved me the most, was when Claire asked if he was real. And Gerald replied "sort of." The honesty in his statement was devastating. It was hard to pick, but what an amazing little movie. I think I'd also have to say the trope of how much a transformative difference friendship can make. Thanks guy.

This was pretty tear jerking. It makes me understand human connection a little bit more. I love how his everyday events got better because he felt better, not because anything has really changed, only he has changed. It's a perspective worth showing because our time with everyone is short in the grand scheme of things.

I am sure it is the truth. When I go out feeling good, I meet nice people, get smiled at, and the traffic lights turn green as I walk up on them. Or some interesting add is stuck to the pole.
On other days, I am often glad to return home alive.
When one is freshly in love, gravity becomes wholly unreal.

This had no dialogue for 16:30 and I watched the whole thing, Im guessing all the other commentors did as well. Its a rare talent to hold someones attention for that long without dialogue, and do it well. You also touched on a hard topic for a lot of people and brought them a feeling of happiness, what great gifts all the people involved in this have to share 👍

It had a ton of dialogue, just no speech. I find funny people commenting there was no dialogue. Seems for some dialogue means only vocal communication.

    • @Nick-jn2fq
      @Nick-jn2fq Месяц назад +2

From the dictionary definition of dialogue:
a conversation between two or more people as a feature of a book, play, or film.
From the dictionary definition of conversation:
a talk, especially an informal one, between two or more people, in which news and ideas are exchanged.
"she picked up the phone and held a conversation in French"
      Dictionary definition of talk:
Speak in order to give information or express ideas or feelings; converse or communicate by spoken words.
      "the two men talked"
Do I need to go any further??

When the kid at the pearly gates broke his Quiji board, the pain & devastation on his face mirrored my sadness at this cruel twist. I was afraid that he would do something to get back into purgatory in order to reconnect with Claire... imagine the relief & gratitude I felt when Claire left him that ukulele (which I figured might have just been a joke he'd told her to make her laugh) & was able to hear him plucking away at it!! 10/10, would recommend

Wow, this film is so creative and touching - it had me feeling all kinds of emotions in such a short space of time, even without any spoken dialogue!
I've never seen this concept done before and it's such a refreshing take on "speaking to those beyond" with a heartwarming story. It gave me 'short film before a Pixar movie' cosy feels.
    - I just adore it!
I've been getting into short film content on RUclips as I'm awaiting a major surgery and don't get out much lol, but I can 'hand on plan planchette' say this is the best one I've seen so far and will take a hell of a lot to beat!

@tomkalbanese one of his greatest films. With his mother in labor, his parents are on the way to the hospital when they are hit by a bus and he is born in the back seat. 4 passengers on the bus who died in the crash find their souls inexplicably linked to him.

    Excellent Film. Loved the story.
I read into the film that Gerald likely ended himself because of a heartbreak, and thus freed himself from purgatory by helping Claire work through hers.
    Very heartwarming and compelling.

I lost my girlfriend 30 days ago. She died due to high blood pressure and mistreatment at the hospital.
my heart is so broken. I miss her so much, i hope to meet her in my dream.
but finally, I found out that she was busy doing internships and orientation meetings in the new world.
Thank you very much for making a short film that calms my heart and reduces my guilt.
greetings and big hug from Indonesia

I don't think I will ever forget this. This is so close to a love story that I have just experienced. The barriers were too great but the connection and joy I felt when she messaged were perfectly shown here. I felt like I was in purgatory too and she gave me hope and laughter. Wish we could have made it work. I would have given my soul on toast for that woman. Maybe when we both reach the after life x
