the enclosure for the croc should be much bigger that is cruel. It isn't good to confine him to such a small space and why doesn't the guy just give the croc its food
I think that they should put a few Plovers into the exhibit, which are birds that clean the croc's teeth for them. It wouldn't help with the space, but it would at least clear up one problem.
I'm sorry but even though i havent seen the whole "cage" that holds the beast, I feel that that isnt the best place to keep this massive creature. You should respect it and give it a larger cage if you must keep it in captivity. :/
Adam Britton wrote this on his Blog "Croc Blog" "Lolong's total length was 6.17 metres, which is 20 feet 3 inches (20.25 feet). As a pure-bred saltwater crocodile, this certainly makes him the largest living crocodile in captivity. This is not an official Guinness record yet, there is a procedure that we have to go through before they can make a final decision, but we have all the required evidence for it. It will be several months before a decision is final."
To quote a famous croc hunter, "you beauty" now we know why these things have never needed to evolve, no other animal in the world would dare mess with something this big
Biggest caught croc in captivity is Cassius in Aus at 5.48m (18ft) but the farm bred Chao Yai in the bangkok samutprakarn zoo is the biggest at 6.0m 1115kg (2465lb) in guiness records. Last time i was at zoo said it was 6.2m so maybe its grown since the record was done.
when i went to florida once, i saw a croc, it was called captian crunch, and they said IT was the biggest croc in captivity, and i saw it in november, 2011
@darkforce510 crocodiles do not chew as they do not have molars, they only have canines which are used for shredding larger animals and in cassius's case, bits of meat, so that they can swallow them far more easily.
@CairnsPost From wikipedia: "In November 2011, Australian crocodile expert Dr. Adam Britton of National Geographic sedated and measured Lolong in his enclosure. He confirmed Lolong as the world's longest crocodile in captivity at 20 feet and 3 inches.[3] His confirmation is good enough for entry into the Guinness Book of World Records but that announcement is to be published six months later, in March 2012" Just letting you know.
why are some people trying to deny his title?? he is the biggest crocodile in CAPTIVITY, not the biggest crocodile ever.. please read the title properly...
@CairnsPost the worlds largest crocs are in eqypt theyre called niel crocs, they grow up to 12 metres long and bigger. and in darwin theyre captivity crocs are much bigger then 5.48 metres long. which is why swimming with them and the cage of death is so popular.
@CairnsPost I was just reading the Guinness World Records site and you are right. The largest crocodile in captivity at the moment is still Cassius. I was also reading about the Philippines crocodile and I believe they are going to release the crocodile back. That wouldn't make any changes to Cassius being the largest crocodile in captivity. These people need to read more :)
update: Zoologist Australian-british Adam Britton arrived in the Philippines as part of the National Geographic team doing a documentary personally measured 'lolong' at 21ft. Dr. Britton was also the crocodile expert commissioned by Guinness world records to measure 'Cassius' (current record holder at 18ft), his recommendation to Guinness records will make lolong the new record holder.
She looks more like a gator than a Croc to me, but that could just be a visual trick caused by only seeing her head and shoulders coupled with her sheer size.
@Soundgarden8497 I don't want emissions stopped altogether, I'm pretty sure we don't have the technology to produce things like steel without burning fuel. The carbon tax gives an incentive for big businesses to invest in sustainable energy, that's the whole point of it; if we have solar farms we don't need to pollute for the energy at all, after an initial amount for producing them. If the technology exists, installing it is cheap for those countries compared to the ongoing costs of fuel.
@jordy5654 its called showing off the croc, its not like he does this every time he feeds it its just for the cameras so people can see just how big it is. crocks can easily go weeks without food. if that guy hadn't done what he did you would not have been able to see more than the snout and tail of the croc so i dont see why your complaining. these crocks are one of the only dinosaurs still around and they made it trough the ice age so im sure they can handle a bit of food teasing.
@popper504 yeah on feb. 18 1945 japanese soldiers were forced into a 10 mile wide swamp and the british had them surrounded. about 1000 soldiers entered the swamp. only about 20 survived the night they spent there. it is the world record for the single worst anamal attack of all time.
@MrSicklovestory Mate, the biggest on swamp people is 13 feet, the croc in this video is 18 1/2 feet. There are some in the wild in Australia that are 22 feet. They have baby sized reptiles in America.
@stuntrider15 No you haven't. I live in Florida and the State record is not quite 15 feet. I've seen my share of huge gators, especially on Hwy 41 on the Tamiami trail between Naples and Miami. Lots of 12 and 13 footers. If there is fresh water, there will be a gator.
I dont understand how you can just stand there and feed that thing without running away flailing your arms as soon as it makes any sudden movements 0-0
@Glyvenator The point is that the fuels used in nuclear reactors are finite; far more limited than coal, what we currently use. If all the big countries start using nuclear energy as their primary source, we will run out of nuclear fuels sooner or later. When we run out we're faced with the same problem as now (needing another source), except we'll have a bunch of useless nuclear reactors too! Nuclear energy is great, but it should only be temporary, until we have renewable sources set up.
He should AT LEAST have a pool large enough to swim comfortably in.
there's something kind of perverse about watching a creature like that reduced to begging.
the enclosure for the croc should be much bigger that is cruel. It isn't good to confine him to such a small space and why doesn't the guy just give the croc its food
thats no croc man... thats a dragon
if i was the croc, i would've gone for the legs
I think that they should put a few Plovers into the exhibit, which are birds that clean the croc's teeth for them. It wouldn't help with the space, but it would at least clear up one problem.
that croc is like "everyday man? honestly, can i have my f****** meat already"
Croc is like: "Ok dude, enough; if you tease me again I'm gonna rip one of your legs..."
I'm sorry but even though i havent seen the whole "cage" that holds the beast, I feel that that isnt the best place to keep this massive creature. You should respect it and give it a larger cage if you must keep it in captivity. :/
If I was that crock, I would have passed up the teaser and gone straight for the main meal.
Watch out there big boy! LOL
These crocs are so awesome!!!! Imagine how long this animal has been around.
This Croc is just about 18'. I also read a story about the 21' salty captured alive in the Philippines. It's still a giant.
in the wild there is a type of bird that cleans crocodiles teeth by eating the food between their teeth.
his face resembles Godzilla's face.
Meanwhile in Australia : chuck norris feeds his lizard
You'd think they could give him a bigger pond (y)
So they hold him in a tiny space and tease him with food... I hope he eats each and every handler.
cassius looks prehistoric. he has horns!!!
Whos bigger This guy or Gustave the nile crocodile of Burundi
one heck of a design by nature... loads of respect....
I like how they're always smiling

That my friends would be called a dragon!
Welcome to Australia where taking a swim is risking your life!
Wow so beautiful! And very sad that he is housed in such a confined space, I hope it is only temporary.
To quote a famous croc hunter, "you beauty" now we know why these things have never needed to evolve, no other animal in the world would dare mess with something this big
When does he eat Captain Hook?
when you put this guy in parallel with the so called "Lolong" (20 footer croc. from Philippines) whom do you think will be longer?
Awesome specimen. Crazy how it's only 2-3 ft difference yet the Philippines one looks so much bigger.
@fireandflames23 He's not teasing it, he is giving it a workout, get the lactic acid moving, it's healthy for them to move around and use energy.
the head look like a dragon!
Daaamn! Look at them scutes on his tail! Big boy indeed.
The rope on the end of the stick is bad for them if it gets into their stomach it clogs up their digestive system.
when i went to florida once, i saw a croc, it was called captian crunch, and they said IT was the biggest croc in captivity, and i saw it in november, 2011

WOW. I wonder which croc is bigger? Gustave from the Nile river or Cassius from Australia?
why are some people trying to deny his title??
he is the biggest crocodile in CAPTIVITY, not the biggest crocodile ever..

Yeah you're right but Gustave isn't in captivity and secondly there have been bigger crocs then Gustave recorded
@CairnsPost I was just reading the Guinness World Records site and you are right. The largest crocodile in captivity at the moment is still Cassius. well, that cant exactly just give him the food all the time
hed never have to move anywhere
HOW BIG IS THE CROC? THEY SAY ITS THE WORLDS LARGEST CROC, BUT NEVER SAY ITS SIZE.
These animals are just pure monsters, designed to kill. Very impressive beasts.

The crocodile tail scares me more than his teeth does lol ...........It's just something about that tail that give me the creeps : )
Hes about 113 years old i heard ..
Watch out T.rex.
I was like " He's going to be pissed, any moment now... " When that guy didn't let him get that meat..
It's beautiful. A mountain is beautiful too, if you don't set an avalanche. Basically, dangerous stuff can be beautiful too.
@Mitty002 yes....but the ride only lasts for a brief few seconds because they get tired out
how many people thought, "omg how awesome would it be if the croc bit the guy trying to feed it" LOL
he has an epic, ancient look.. and shiny!
what a beautiful creature :D though I wouldn't be holding that meat back from it for long...it might get angry...
She looks more like a gator than a Croc to me, but that could just be a visual trick caused by only seeing her head and shoulders coupled with her sheer size.
Was anyone else expecting him to get fed up with the teasing and leap out for the guy's legs?
Crocodiles don't age. That guy can get just as pissed off and riled up as when it was 2.
Crocosaurus Park in the Northern Territory has a few crocs that are about the same size.
croc: "ugh, I seriously need to lose weight... im a fatty."
IN PHILIPPINES WE CAUGHT A 4 FT. CROCODILE WITH A MACHINE ON HER HEAD
The have a 20 foot gator at the alligator farm/pit in Florida City, FL.
@Soundgarden8497 I don't want emissions stopped altogether, I'm pretty sure we don't have the technology to produce things like steel without burning fuel.

@Peace2011yes yeah thats a salt water croc, fresh water have long thin mouths for catching small fish
I wonder if Snicker would satisfy this big crocs hunger.
Cassius WAS the largest crocodile in captivity for about 2 weeks until Lolong was caught.
It's basically a real life dinosaur!
Now that I look this more Godzilla's head does kinda look like a crocodiles head.
It's not bad, they cost ALOT to maintain and and the closure is expensive.
@BlackAnvil47 If I'm not mistaken, the one recently caught in Phillipines is 6.4-metre long. This Cassius is 5.48m long ; short of 1 m?
I dare you too jump on it's back, then do the trolol song with a trumpet, for half-an-hour
im wondering what would happen if the croc pulled that slab of meat a little too hard and the keeper faceplanted straight into its face
@223o oh absolutely, my crocodile actually has bluetooth capabilities. it came optional.
No chickens were harmed in the making of this video
@popper504 yeah on feb. 18 1945 japanese soldiers were forced into a 10 mile wide swamp and the british had them surrounded. about 1000 soldiers entered the swamp. only about 20 survived the night they spent there. it is the world record for the single worst anamal attack of all time.
Chuck Norris called, he wants his pet back.
When I first saw his teeth the first thing I thought was that he ate the green M&M. lol
not suprised this croc is HUGE, my marine teacher had the job of feeding him before that guy, big old cassius doesnt have a front leg though
hes like give me my fricken food already
he's like ok that was just my daily snack, now go get me my lunch or you will BE my lunch
Cassius said, " I have an elder brother lives in Philippines, he migrated when I was 2"
It seems to have a small pond of water for such a big animal...!
he looks friendly
imagine that thing enters your room while you're sleeping at night.. i'd jump out the window leaving a trail of piss
Well that's why it's so big, it eats and lays around all day.
My name is Chuck Norris and i used to fight these kinda crocs when i was bored
Looks like my mother-in-law!
@MrSicklovestory Mate, the biggest on swamp people is 13 feet, the croc in this video is 18 1/2 feet. There are some in the wild in Australia that are 22 feet. They have baby sized reptiles in America.
so... getting back to the crocodile, how big actually is it?
See that 40ft Pakistani Whale Shark found about a month ago?
@CairnsPost wad about gustave? he's smaller than cassius
@chiggero i am not 100% sure but i think i've heard somewhere he's a really old croc... but not sure
Mom who let you out of the basement?
@stuntrider15 No you haven't. I live in Florida and the State record is not quite 15 feet. I've seen my share of huge gators, especially on Hwy 41 on the Tamiami trail between Naples and Miami. Lots of 12 and 13 footers. If there is fresh water, there will be a gator.

Holy shit! That thing is huge!!! Its so big it looks like it can barely move!!!!! DAMN!!!!!!!!!!
What about Gustave?(some 23 feet long i think)
