The context of this video is educational & to show you how I recommend getting Open NAT on the Playstation 4. Results cannot be guaranteed but I do my best to show you what I recommend given my knowledge. Getting Open NAT type on Playstation 4 by changing settings on your router will help improve multiplayer on the PS4.
In this video I went through every possible method that I knew of get Open NAT Type on PS4. I used manual port forwarding, DMZ, UpNp, and even plugged my PS4 directly into the modem to bypass my router... Hopefully this video was interesting. I wanted to make one full-length video demonstrating every possible way to get Open NAT Type on PS4.

*Edit* before anyone says anything, I did forget to show port triggering in this video. However, port triggering is basically just like port forwarding without the static IP. Just thought I'd put that out there. I might make a seperate video over port triggering

Holla your ISP and get static ip. If nothing works its cos ISP are making NAT strict , get static ip. My providers don’t give out static IP so I’m ridin solo..
When you do port forwarding thing try 3478 I tried it and it work I got that number from PlayStation web side

The UPnP option worked for me, It was already turned on by default but I turned it off, then turned it back on and it fixed my Nat type issue, thank you.

I desperately need help with COD MW 2019. My NAT type will change from open to moderate seemingly at random. It will go a certain amount of games on open and then it will be moderate out of nowhere. My router is hooked up via Ethernet cable to my landlords router on the other side of the house. We don't live in the same place basically. My PS4 is hooked up to my router via Ethernet. So I don't understand. I forwarded the correct ports for COD MW and it still happened. So I tried enabling the DMZ. Didn't work. So I tried upnp. Didn't work either. I tried enabling everything at once as a side note. Like I tried all methods simultaneously. Also different combinations. Maybe that's the issue? I just don't know. Maybe I should get rid of the ports I have enabled and turn off upnp along with turning off DMZ. I set a static ip for my PS4 with I use in correlation with the 3 methods. I just don't really understand what I can do to troubleshoot what will work I feel like I've tried it all. Thank you for any feedback.
i was doing everything with my ps4 still turned on while entering mac an ip address an kept saying it was already taken as soon as i turned my ps4 off an done static ip and the single code portforward turn ps4 on it work straight away hope it helps

dmz might be unsafe but works ... i think the safest of the 3 methods is the first one and the third one
Thank you for the video, by far the best one I have found. My questions is on the first option... how/why did you decide to use the static IP ending in 69? Also, I know you dont want to show your PS4's "system information" screen for privacy/security, but did you manually change the ps4 ip to match the IP ending in 69, did the port forwarding accomplish this? Im lost on how the changes on the router translates to the PS4. Im trying to play For Honor btw. Thanks again.

Yo this worked for me as well with the Port Forwarding. My only gripe was I didn't know if UPNP wasn't working I should disable it cause I had both on until much later in the video. But when I turned it off and disabled and re-enabled my Port Forwarding, I finally got green on my For Honor! All in all, good stuff! Thank you do much!

Any advice on how to do this using 2 routers? I'm in the UK with 2 EE Brightbox routers. I have them connected using Ethernet, then the 2nd router has to output ethernet to Ps4 and PC.
I've disabled DHCP in 2nd router, assigned static ip to my ps4, and port forwardrd to me ps4 from Router 1. It all seems to be working, but I want to make sure. I've also turned ON DMZ in both routers and assigned to Static PS4 address.
I opened Call of Duty and it's showing as Open, but because I have 2 routers I want to be sure it's all correct. Thanks :D

Hay glasscock I have Verizon FiOS fiber but I notice that when they set up my router that they used coaxial cable instead of ethernet is that good or bad? How can I change it to ethernet? Maybe you could do a video on it just in idea.
joesw09 I do not know a lot about FIOS. But I do know internet providers will use coaxial connections or ethernet connections from a fiber ONT. You could just be in an area where they needed to use coax. I would call and find out why

When you do port forwarding thing try 3478 I tried it and it work I got that number from PlayStation web side
No matter what I do I am stuck on NAT Type 3. Literally there is nothing I can do to change this. Please someone help. I live in an apartment and my router is a Nighthawk R6700v3 and I have UPnP on, DMZ set to my PS4, my lan port prioritizes, and all ports manually entered. Still nothing! What the hell do I do

You can't do port forwarding for PS4 to open NAT if your WAN IP address is private
Only public WAN IP address allows you do port forwarding
Private WAN IP addresses start with 172 or 192 or 10
Others except those are Public ones

Is there a setting on the ISP side that could cause a moderate or strict NAT. I show type 2 NAT on the PS4 but when I go to COD MW it says moderate. Tried all methods and still the same moderate NAT in game. Thanks

JJ Johnson i found out What to do, My setup was a router that has a lan cable all the way to the netgear router that was downstair, so no matter What i did with the netgear router it wouldn’t work, so first You have to login in 2 Your main router And Then have a lan cable from ur main router to ur ps4. Thats What worked for me

Do you have to do this on every router thats connected in the line from ISP to ur ps4/pc ? or it enough with the one that you are fully connected to ? ( i have ISP connected with wire to a router thats in living room and thats connected to a extender, which is then connected to a router so its wireless on this part of the house. does it need to be in every router or just the one i have my ps4 connected to with wire?

Can you give me some suggestions, I have a somewhat unique setup where I have wireless on my laptop, and then through the Network port, I have my PS4 setup. I've configured my wifi card to Share it's connection, and it automatically assigns the IP to 192.168.137.22 The problem I am having is when I want to add it as a port or virtual server or whatever else, it will erase the "137" and just give me a 0. Also I don't know if the DNS should be my laptop, or the router because technically it is being daisy chained and not connected directly.
So the weird thing is that I did port forwarding steps and I logged onto Black Ops 3 and it said my NAT Type was Open. But when I test my internet connection, it comes out as NAT Type 3. Did I do something wrong?

i did this on my ps4 and xbox. is did port forwarding, and i used 3074 to the xbox and i got my nat type open. but my ps4 did do it with 3478

دراما UpNp is the only way because 3074 cannot be forwarded two different places at the same time
If its xbox you might be able to just forward 3074 udp to PS4 and 3075 to Xbox that might work. But I know for a fact that ps4 needs 3074 for open nat type

It will be the same for either type. Everything in this video applies equally to a wired or wireless connection.

@@aaronconaway5752 Eliminate having two routers on the same network. If your ISP gives you a modem / router combo you will need to put that into bridge mode and then you can continue to use your own router. That will eliminate the double NAT.

@@gamingranger6823 Yes or you are double natting it with out knowing it. Often by using an ISP modem / router combo connected to your own router you will create a double NAT situation. If you put your ISP modem / router combo into bridge mode the problem will usually go away.
