Port forwarding does not change your Internet speed or your ping at all. Port forwarding serves a completely different purpose, namely to host servers for multiplayer games over the internet. You only need port forwarding if you're hosting games or playing games that may make you the host. Do not use manual port forwarding, use UPnP if it works properly. Also always remember that the traffic on these ports is forwarded directly. If the game has security holes, the computer/console can also be attacked.
I having issues with random strict nat via WiFi on my series x. Verizon fios upnp is enabled from the factory , one min I get an open nat the next strict. Tried doing DMZ host that I was on RUclips. Still the same issues. We then tried port forwarding using all the ports we found listed on Google that said the Xbox needs to have them open then on the Xbox the only ports you can select are like 6 different numbers so we put those in there as well. It’s driving me crazy. Legit about to give you my email to talk more
@@mysixfo8805 What is supposed to be random strict nat via WiFi? There is no such thing as random, the manufacturer of the game clearly specifies which ports are used via port forwarding or UPNP (which the whole thing does independently), this can be different for each game and has nothing to do with the console in the first instance. Also, you only need port forwarding if you want to be the host, it is not necessary for normal gaming. There is nothing wrong with using DMZ to separate the networks, but this also needs to be configured accordingly. Look at the ports specified by the manufacturer for each game, make sure you use the correct TCP and/or UDP protocols. No ports actually need to be set on the Xbox, what have you set? Also make sure that the Xbox does not have a dynamic IP address, but a static one. With a dynamic one, the IP address of the Xbox can change and is no longer the same as the one you have configured for port forwarding on the router. Also check that UPNP is enabled on your router, only on the Xbox is not enough. That's all I can take from your comment, what is not working?

You should cover that this should be on a separated VLan / network incase it gets compromised, so it doesn't affect the other network devices. ! Good video though..
There's an important step you missed here: Check the DHCP range of your router and choose an IP address outside of that range. For example, my range is 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.128. So for my PS5 IP I chose 192.168.0.130. This ensures my router will never choose this IP for another device.
You can do that but I use the IP address inside my range. I use an address far away from any of my current IP addresses. For instance my last IP address range in my home is 192.168.1.117, I use 192.168.1.201 or higher and I will never overlap any IP addresses in my DHCP range. I have 255 IP addresses available and never even use half of them so I will never overlap. Thank you for watching.

I would suggest adding by 1935, 3074, 3478-3480 all in one entry for at least the PS5. Most current routes accept multiple ports in a row. If not using Port Forward software. I'd also suggest instead of setting a static IP address for PS5 that in your router settings setup a IP Reservation on the Routers DHCP page. Find the MAC Address for your PS5 under current leases and copy it from there and ad it to DHCP Reservation list. Honestly I doubt it will increase your Internet speed this is honestly a red herring. That's CloudFlare DNS server which is one of the fastest DNS servers out there. Only maybe Google's faster but not that Google is known for privacy and they don't have encryption available. OpenDNS is.a little better but pain to setup.

I could watch this 1 million times and still never understand it. It is way too complicated. Why don’t modern routers auto configure themselves based on what’s plugged into them? Anyway I’m destined to never have open ports because I am not intelligent enough to follow any of this. Completely lost in less than five minutes. I’m probably gonna have to have someone come over and pay them to do this.
The DNS should be under Internet settings or Network settings. You can get the DNS automatically or choose to set them yourself. I prefer the cloudflare DNS. Hope this helps and thank you for watching and if you subscribed thank you as well.

A very helpful video, but everyone's router is different. Understandably, you can't cover every single router's settings, but this is where your video gets off track. You router and screenshots are specific to your router and vastly different from Eero, Google/Nest, Nether, etc... It because difficult to follow along after the PS5 network settings section.
You can get nat 1 but unhooking your router from your modem. Then plugging the ethernet cable I'm the modem then straight to the ps5. You will not have wifi if you do this except to just your ps5 or whatever system you use it on. Type 2 is basically the same as type 1. Only reason you get nat type 2 is because you plugged it into a router or through wifi.
Can a server in a DMZ pose a security risk to the rest of the network? Like if i put my playstation ip on DMZ network will it put any danger on my other devices if it got hacked ? Thank you in advance.

I'm not sure if I'm doing it correctly even because in the menu to setup port forwarding for my router it has settings for internal and external ports both start and end. Any help setting this up would be much appreciated, it keeps disconnecting me from online games even though my speed is very good.
What router do you have?
I did everything & it didn't change it
Should I turn upnp on for this
Great video, thanks
Your welcome and thank you for watching.
Does this effect the Wi-Fi around the rest of the house? Will other devices suffer slower speeds etc
No this does not effect the wifi or other wired connections. It only helps the PS5 and that's it. If you decide to port forward other devices then they will have improved internet performance. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it.
@@UltimateTechHub Thank you, will try it out!
I think online multiplayer gaming connection depends on upload speed not download speed....
Am i right ?
Yes
Holy crap I think it worked 😱
if i had the ppoe (nat 1) still better or no?
Nat 1 is the best
Thanks this was great! I'm trying to do this on a Motorola router and when setting up the port forwarding I have to put in the start/end point for the local/external IP addresses. I'm not sure what to put for the local start/end points so any help on how to do this for a Motorola router would be awesome
I think the local IP address start point is your gateway and your endpoint is the static IP of the PS5. Give that a try and keep me posted. Thank you for watching.
Do u need to use that exact primary and secondary dns?
No you can use whichever DNS address you want. Just do an internet search for DNS addresses. Thank you for watching.
what is best port forwarding or DMZ?
Port forwarding
Hey i got a tp-link and in forward option i get
Trigger Port:
Trigger Protocol:
Open Port:
(XX or XX-XX or XX-XX,XX)
Open Protocol:
ALL
Status:
Enabled
Common Service Port
what should i do with these
A very helpful video, but everyone's router is different. Understandably, you can't cover every single router's settings, but this is where your video gets off track. You router and screenshots are specific to your router and vastly different from Eero, Google/Nest, Nether, etc... It because difficult to follow along after the PS5 network settings section.
You could try this video it may be better for you. ruclips.net/video/qb7ZT7NvuJo/видео.html
This got me to NAT2, thank you! What about getting to NAT1?
How do we get to NAT type 1?
You can get nat 1 but unhooking your router from your modem. Then plugging the ethernet cable I'm the modem then straight to the ps5. You will not have wifi if you do this except to just your ps5 or whatever system you use it on. Type 2 is basically the same as type 1. Only reason you get nat type 2 is because you plugged it into a router or through wifi.
Hi you still with century link or quantum fiber ?
CenturyLink 1gig Fiber for 65 dollars a month. It's actually 940mbps up and down.
How did you get to the security settings ?
Can a server in a DMZ pose a security risk to the rest of the network? Like if i put my playstation ip on DMZ network will it put any danger on my other devices if it got hacked ?
Thank you in advance.
Yes, putting your PlayStation IP on a DMZ network will leave it vulnerable to hacking. Once a hacker has access to the PS IP address it has access to entire Network. I don't recommend it.
@@UltimateTechHub thanks man
Good video , you didn’t say how you came about your DNS , thanks
I use Cloudflare but you can just leave it blank if you want to.
Can u do this with the spectrum router? I don’t have the settings for all the router stuff
If you have 3 playstation 5 console running? It works?
Yes. You have 3 PS5s? Wow! 3 tines the fun! Lol
@@UltimateTechHub yes my wife, stepson and mine, we the internet company Change my modem since have error on the PS5'S MENU errors and lagging sometimes on multiplayer s games, but everything else on Wi-Fi all good, I'll let you know if work I have a Sagemcom 3890 crap 😆
@@UltimateTechHub Would the process have to be applied to all three consoles due to them having different IP addresses?
@@Livelifelove82 yes
am i using the IP and Subnet etc that you used or the ones stated in my connection status?
If your Router Gateway IP Address is 192.168.1.1 then use mine. If not use the ones stated in your connection status.
Speeds were great 3 days ago, now every single streaming app is buffering and dropping to 480p. When I switch over to the smart tv and start up netflix it streams 4k flawlessly. When doing a speed test my phone and laptop both get over 400Mbps but the ps5 is stuck at 12Mbps. Been like that for 3 days now. (I'm on a 1Gbps internet package)
Sometimes a reboot of your router and switch and the PS5 will fix this. Sounds like a connection issue.
What is external and internal? Is say that in my router settings
Watch this video it shows the external and internal setup.

///////////you mentioned about finding primary and secondary DSN on router app, where exactly please?///////
In router settings you will see primary and secondary DNS. If its blank then leave the PS5 DNS blank. I use CloudFlare DNS for my router which blocks malware and adult sites. DNS settings for the PS5 are not important. Hope this helps.
Actually opened cp and check it was same as id. It’s really good vid. But unfortunately nothing works for me after second port straight away getting message that it can’t be done. So having 550 download and max 20 upload. Can’t do nothing. I did try dmz. Nothing worked. Connection the same NAT 3. I did try to change everything on ps5. Maybe I’m something missing, but what works for others didn’t worked for me🤦🏼♂️🤷🏼
Does it have to be a wired lan?
No, it can wireless too.
Nice Buc-ees shirt
Hi, i did all the steps and still got the nat type 3. Should i type a different ipv4 address when customising advanced settings?
From where did you get the primary and secondary DNS, becuase this is differnet from time stamp 2:56 in your video. THe primary DNS and Defult gateway had the same value. Hnece if would be nice if you can explain from where did you get primary and secondary DNS. ??
I used Cloudflare DNS but you can leave it blank if you want. Sorry for not explaining the DNS settings.
@@UltimateTechHub I highly appreciate that you have taken time to respond my query. Port forwarding didn't increase any speed or improve any gaming experience for me. COD / Active Vision doesn't have serves in India
why not ipv6, if your ps5 supports and router supports it?
How do you go to your router setting to find the primary and secondary DNS?
Here is a video on how to log into the router. ruclips.net/video/p-wZNeKRN7c/видео.html
Hope this helps and keep me posted.
@@UltimateTechHub thank you, I will try this.
Genius
thanks man
Glad to help! Thank you for watching and if you subscribed thank you as well.
Secondary dns i just guess right??
Cuz you said it and moved on like it’s nothing ???
1.1.1.3 Primary
1.0.0.3 Secondary
It's not really necessary for the port-forwarding, it's just what I do.
Thanks for watching.
Hey
Does this fix input lag ?
Yes it can definitely help.
@@UltimateTechHub but i already face input lag in offline mode aswell
@@keyulthadesar3039 You may have a router issue. How old is your router?
I’m looking to do this for streaming using chiaki (a linux PlayStation remote play) to stream to my steam deck, do you think this tutorial could still apply to my situation? I’m really trying to find tutorials on this that makes sense but it’s very difficult
You said lets go back to router settings as if you showed us how to get there. Thanks
Im currently on ps5 console. But i always play fifa23 ps4 version. As for game ip address, should i input the ps4 version ip or ps5 version ip?
PS5 version
Is this done in a similar way In order to open up the ports on my ps5 in order to use chiaki for asus rog ally outside of my network?
And also how do you this whilst on wireless and not wired? Don’t get it
How do you know if your ps5 is over heating?
Check the back of the PS5. If its hot to the touch then power off the PS5 for about 20 minutes. Mine gets how during GT7. Thank you for watching.
@@UltimateTechHub Okay thank you.
I dont have the apps and gmaing tab on my router. Are the step before that one enough for a better experience?
Adding a static IP is good but port forwarding is what really makes the experience faster.
my router will only let me setup one of those ports per ip address. how did you do three of them?
In your router port forwarding menu you have to put your ps5 ip or router ip?
PS5 IP address.
Ok
Hey what ip address i should put in dmz host ip? My router ip or ps5 ip?
i Have a question, if anyone can answer, If I port forward to my PS5, what about my other devices connect to router through Wifi, will they be still be able to use the internal like before port forwarding
How is your upload so high!? I have 500 down, but only 10 up
Some ISPs limit upload speeds. COX cable allows only 30Mbps upload. Who is your ISP?
@@UltimateTechHubI have Spectrum. Overall I’m happy with it, but I was blown away by your upload speed.
I recently got a PlayStation Portal, and your video was still a huge help in getting it to run far better than it did at first.
Whats all this internal and external on my router????
Opened these ports and my down speed went from 830mbps to 567mbps
What do I do if there are two sections for the external/end port in total asking me for three protocol numbers instead of the usual two?
