Fire trucks responding to a Major Factory Fire in Kidderminster

- A large building fire in Kidderminster prompts a major incident with multiple fire trucks, engines and emergency vehicles responding with siren, horn and lights in Worcestershire, UK.
At 14:51 on September 8, 2021, emergency services responded to a fire at Betts Metals (and surrounding unit) on Park Street in the centre of Kidderminster. Homes and businesses were evacuated but thankfully there were no reported injuries.
At the height of the incident over 100 firefighters, 20 fire engines and numerous specialist units from 4 different fire services responded to the incident along with West Mercia Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service, and other organisations such as the Environment Agency.
Chief Fire Officer Jon Pryce reported that the incident was downscaled to 10 pumps overnight while crews dealt with large amounts of molten metal. You can follow CFO Pryce here: / hwfirechief

Thing is I live down the road from that ASDA and I slept through the entire thing. All the sirens, the fire, everything. I didn’t even know it happened until a week later.
I live not far from the town aswell.

U mean on the water carrier tank.. ya.. in Singapore we use to have two tone siren on this pumps as well.. well Singapore SCDF also follow some of UK, Germany and France in terms of firefighting. And some firefighting vehicles follow much more like German than UK.
@@joshuatran2932 i'm a big fan of the SCDF! They have some very modern equipment indeed. Is it true that young people can do NS in the SCDF instead of the Military?
@@GeorgeThoughts it depends.. now currently u can choose where u want to go serve NS.. and also depends if u have any bad records in the past or recently u have any bad records.. then they will post u to go either places which avoids u to carry armed. Instead u will go SCDF which is the only places which not allow u to carry armed

Great Vid, thanks for sharing A customer rang me from Cannock and asked what was going on down our way as he could see the smoke from where he lived.
I live very local to this incident and it was dealt with very well. The fire service did an excellent job of controlling a very significant fire.
You know the fire engines are old when it still has 'Hereford & Worcester Fire Brigade' on them.
Though in all fairness, they dont look that old for 18 year old vehicles
There is a combined Fire and Rescue Service that serves both Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Everyone commenting about the 2 tones. Come to North Wales, EVERY fire appliance still has the 2 tones - even the new ones!

We were exploring an old house 20 miles away and saw smoke on the horizon, "WTF is on fire over there!?"... "Looks like Kidderminster". So we popped on down to watch.

Two tones much more effective than the sirens I always think
In my area fire always used two tone very rare now thay all sound like the police so you don't know what to expect little white car or big red car
Heard the first bangs of the place, I was walking home to Worcester Road just past the Tesco's and had to see what the fuss was about. Not only that but there was a large fireball. I'll be adding my videos from the church near Crossley Retail Park.
There were a lot of people nearby especially on the bridge adjacent to the Post Office sorting office which I told them about the dangers of any gas tanks

This was the street I live on was only 40 doors away from the fire. If my wife didn't call I wouldn't of known at all glad no one was injured or died
The problem in the US is our aerial devices have everything including the kitchen sink packed on the apparatus. Not in the UK. This is a much better concept in my opinion.

The attendance of pumps and crews from other brigades are covered by what is known as a Section 12 agreement. The receiving Service does have to pay for such attendance.

@@Charlzey1998 thanks! There are some photos online as well, there’s probably some from Worcester and more units from Droitwich too. There is a photo showing the command unit so I think it would have came from Wyre Forest, they might have the one from Ledbury too.

Thanks for the video! Your footage confirms that the Hereford ALP (PKE) attended the incident as well as Worcester (PKD). Early pictures showed the Worcester ALP in operation but not Hereford so good to see it was there...

Lol talk about over the top, if the wyre forest council had not closed the fire station down, which was only 1 minute from park lane then more of the building could have been saved. Unfortunately Wyre Forest is no longer a thriving area, such a shame

If only the fire station cordoned off was active, the fire could have been brought under control quicker. Instead, the government need to save money so they're cutting alot of service's like schools and emergency services, but have enough for hs2 and destroying land and forests to make way for it
the station was closed as the trucks moved to a larger facility…this was not going to be controlled by just a single station no matter if it was down the road or not

The new Hi-Tech fire and rescue station is about a kilometre from the fire and units were on site within minutes of the alarm. The OLD station was no longer fit for purpose so thank you Hereford & Worcester Fire Service for investing in our community.
