So I've been helping a friend that's got an 08 Chevy Impala put a new starter on it and all that we can hear is a solenoid somebody suggested turning the harmonic balancer and I was just looking at your video to see what size socket I needed thanks for the heads up

A gigantically large/huge thanks to you and friend for showing me what the dealio is w/ a harmonic balancer. Do they make one for my wifey and me? haha, really thanks so much my friend it truly is appreciated.
Did you really just get that bolt out that easy I’ve been sitting here for 3 days just trying to get it off using pipe extensions for my ratchet and wrenches and even went out and spent $170 on an impact and it still won’t come lose
Yes should be about the same Thanks for watching and commenting glad could help. Please subscribe & like and share if haven't already and check out our other helpful videos
Irish hi thanks for watching no didn't have to drop frame, used some shorter screws that fit in balancer that gave me enough clearance to pull it out. Please Subscribe and share if haven't already and check out my other helpful videos.
After watching this great video and others like it I took a 18 mm socket and lowered my sub frame just enough to where the bolt does not come out so it’s still connected and it made life much easier. My sub frame bolts were an 18 mm along with the bolt that holds on the harmonic balancer.

You dont have to drop the sub frame or need the long bolt just tap it on with a bar an hammer . Just enough to get your bolt in their. Just did it from help with your video thank you

All he did was replace the harmonic balancer he didn't fix the actual problem which was the leak behind the harmonic balancer. He could have saved himself a lot of money by just replacing the seal not the harmonic balancer🤷♂️
Always good to replace stuff that's bad while you're there already and save hammering on it extra only cost around $15/20 bucks and your knuckles of you miss...🤣
A lot of the time I see people talking about saving money on parts by replacing a small component. My personal counter is to ask how much is your time worth? Often replacing a whole assembly saves a lot of heartache.
Thanks for making this video, very helpful, I have a 2005 3.4L impala, FYI on my balancer the bolt is 18mm

DO NOT hammer on the balancer like that!
You will damage the crank thrust washer.
Use a longer bolt or the correct tool.
What is the best way, and tool to use?
Yo! Do 502 mean you're in Louisville? I'm over here off of Indian trail. Taking a harmonic balancer off of a Monte Carlo with a 3/4. I subbed.
Good video!! Do I turn the 15mm bolt left or right to remove it?
Lefty loosey in this situation
Same here thanks a bunch I had no idea how to change crankshaft but i got a good hint out of this video. Thank you verry much

DW 40
Wtf is dw40
That's WD-40.
It's a lubricant and can cause as much trouble as it does help...aka bad for seals good for rusted parts
You really did all that work and didn't replace the crank seal that is visibly leaking!??🥴🥴
Yes replaced it later. Please subscribe & like and share if haven't already and check out our other helpful videos
15 inch bolt!
Wrong! Wrong terms and wrong way to put new one back on.
All he did was replace the harmonic balancer he didn't fix the actual problem which was the leak behind the harmonic balancer. He could have saved himself a lot of money by just replacing the seal not the harmonic balancer🤷♂️

WD 40
This Doesn't Work For The Impala SS
Jerome Nash why not? You can access the balancer the same way what makes it any different?
The 5.3 we’re talking about not the SC 3.8
