I literally spent 4 hours trying to get that GD bolt off, tried everything, swore every other word, my old lady pulls up your video, I’m skeptical but ready to hurt someone, gave it shot, and BAM!!!!! One tap of the ignition bolt loosened right up and I could have saved myself four hours of BS! You Sir are awesome and I will check your channel from here on out!!!”

    Do not hold the bar while someone else cranks. The torque that would be applied would almost certainly cause serious injury. Find a solid contact point to set the breaker bar against or find a different method.

    This works great, been doing it for years. The best way is to position a long breaker bar between the ground and the passenger frame rail. That way the weight of the breaker bar keeps tension on the bolt. Be sure theres nothing between the bar and the frame. Rotate the bar up to the frame and verify this. Leave an about 2" gap between the frame and the breaker bar. This way the starter has time to fully engage and get some momentum up. Some bolts are really torqued on. Fully relying on the starter from a dead stop and the bar fully braced can damage the starter.
    Disconnect the coil/coils or fuel injectors before doing this as the engine can and will start.
    This won't work on some Hondas as the engine spins counterclockwise and this will only tighten it even more. Plus, Honda crank bolts are torqued at 600 ft/lbs vs say 160 ft/lbs like this one. They require specific good quality tools a procedures to get them loose.
    Also, you DO NOT want to do this on an engine that has a broken timing belt/chain or had jumped time. Cranking the engine just a little bit will bend valves if they aren't already.

    • @sharpcarco
      @sharpcarco  2 года назад

      Good advice but yeah I didn’t have to worry about that in my situation on the valves being bent more than likely they would’ve already been bent anyways……

    Nice video and to the point. Mechanic told me that the bolt broke in the 2006 Jeep Liberty diesel. The timing chain needed to be changed. Mechanic forced the bold and it broke. He said the only way to get it out now is to drill it out and then re-tap the threads. Is this true? Is there any other way to get that bolt out? The timing belt is still one but the engine no longer starts. It’s been 4 months. Appreciate any thought or comments on this conundrum. Thanks, Kevin

    I am replacing my head gasket, but work stopped when I got to trying to remove the crankshaft bolt. I liked this idea, and I tried it, but it didn't work for me. I have my serpentine belt off, so as to keep all starter power on the crankshaft and not lose any power turning any other pulley. My Jeep has been sitting for a couple of weeks, and although the lights and electronics come on seemingly normal, I suspect that my battery may not be strong enough. I will charge my battery and try it again, I would expect this to work. I will also set my socket with the breaker bar a couple inches away from the part of the chassis that is going to provide the hold, so if it doesn't loosen it by activating the starter with the breaker bar against the sidewall, having the breaker bar hit the wall after moving a couple inches should do the trick. I just hope after removing the center bolt that I don't have equal frustration trying to remove the crankshaft pulley itself. Thanks for this trick - I am hoping this will work after topping off the battery!

    • @sharpcarco
      @sharpcarco  11 месяцев назад

    So what if oil is puddling behind that shaft seal, and oil is caked all over the sensor and general area? Would that mess with the crankshaft sensor ability to read? And does that mean oil is leaking from the inside seal near the timing belt?

    • @sharpcarco
      @sharpcarco  2 года назад +1

      Normally that won’t mess with The sensors because the sensors work off of magnetics.

    Bro, the arm... Got the same problem I bet.... Have had for over a year now too which sucks.... Don't have insurance, so I won't go to Dr.... Plus, not trying to have them false positive test me for Plandemic and get thrown on a ventilator, good riddance..
    Have u figured out your arm?? My issue happened when lifting a massive heavy box my wife was shipping to Philippines family members... It just like failed and pain set in.... Only will hurt after lifting now, but something definitely is wrong.... Just curious to see if you had that looked at yet

      Actually I had some tendon stretching and I needed to do physical therapy luckily there better but oh my God I thought it was going to fall off……. And it was flipping crazy at first it was my right arm and as soon as that arm got better it moved to my left arm the exact same pain I finally went to the doctor and they told me I had arthritis which was a bunch of bullshit….. I am very sorry to say though I did fall for the plan Demic at the beginning as well….. i’m over that bullshit I went back to my real life after about two weeks of being home.
      By the way I did not go to physical therapist I just did different things to work my arm and eventually it went away from the right one and then it went to the left on which was terrible but I knew how to deal with it so I dealt with it. And they’re both all better now I can reach over my head with both arms but for a while it was really really scary

    So, don't start the car up, completely? Just jerk the key? Nice trick, by the way.

      Thanks man I appreciate the kind words
      No I don’t think you wanna start it up completely.
      And since then when I needed to use this trick I actually disable the ignition system meaning no spark…. And I held onto the ratchet after I knew which direction the engine would turn while the starter was engaged. And it came right out I didn’t want to put that in the video because I didn’t want people getting hurt but it worked better than bumping the key in some situations

      @@thecarfixchannel3046 they make tools that hold the flywheel. Some instances you actually have to remove the starter some work without removing the starter. They also make spanner wrenches. That you can put on the harmonic balancer just depends on the different make or model.
      Personally me the simplest way to do it screwdriver and flywheel

    remove all the spark plugs before you do this (keeps the engine from starting up as well as releases all fuel and air that would other wise get into and over pressure your valves and bend the valves or the push rods and create a bigger problem), and pull the fuel pump fuse, and use a large cheater pipe over the end of the breaker bar if you can't lock down the breaker bar to something solid like the frame or a motor mounting bracket out of the way to block the breaker bar from flying all around should things go bad. with the cheater pipe some one or something solid an immovable is going to have to hold the cheater pipe on the breaker bar.

      I find this comment hilarious….
      First off you skipped through the video it’s 100% obvious by your comment which means you didn’t listen to the video…
      Then on top of that the only way that you could’ve stripped that bolt off would be if you used the wrong socket. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to deduce that you often go around blaming others for your troubles. You should really consider taking the blame for your own situations.
      I would recommend finding Jesus because no matter what you think he loves you and always will even in your darkest times. God bless I hope your day gets better. And I truly mean that
