I drive a 535i N55 pwg and run MHD Stage 2+ with Stage 3 xHP and it runs beautifully. MHD recently came out with an update that fixes a boost problem with early F-series 535i’s using xHP. It’s very easy to install but it’s worth it. Mods: Burger Motorsports Intake VRSF Upper Chargepipe Evolution Racewerks Lower Chargepipe Racing Dynamics Boost pipe VRSF Larger Intercooler OE (Eldor) Ignition Coils OEM Spark Plugs I hope this helps 🙂 Note: you can keep the OEM boost pipe, however I changed it because for some reason the OEM one would NOT click into place with the upgraded VRSF Intercooler. If you’re gonna go down this route, remove the radiator fan during install because it’s a TIGHT fit.
BM3 stage 1 only zero other mods. B58-340i .....only things that ticks me about BM3 is the stupid lugging around in 8th gear around town partial throttle in comfort. It’s like the trans just can’t wait to slide into 8th gear even at 45mph. Yeah I know xhp can apparently fix or just go into sport mode.....it’s just weird 45mph and 1050rpms! Didnt really do that stock. I think at stock it would stay in 7th. But BM3 makes crazy smooth power. I hit 1/8 mile at 7.9 without LC! I’m probably 12.3 1/4 without LC all with stage 1 no their mods. whatsoever. Whoever said mhd is like the amateurs and BM3 is the pros is right.
from what i have read, bootmod3 vs mhd for n55 and n54 are a little diffent (ots maps) also depends if you have PWG or EWG. Most people with n55 go BM3 especially with EWG most people with n54 go MHD with pwg. with the 2014 f30 models bmw made a lot of improvements for the motors so they can handle the higher boost stage 2 from BM3 pushes out
Spend a little more and get the 440i. The B58 fixes all the short comings of the N55 (cracking intakes, waterpump, valvecover leaks, improved vanos, etc) and unlike the N55, the stock intercooler and intake will support almost everything you're able to throw at it, using the stock turbo.
