Always safe reliable and slow? The 240 series turbo models were some of the first turbocharged cars offered in the US with the exception of Porsche and had incredible potential for a lot of power from a single cam, 8v 4cyl. Made close power to what a Chevy v8 made in the same time period...
Always liked the 240 2 door turbo and especially the Bertone Coupé. Not sure if the Bertone was a turbo though. Cool cars. I'm about to pull the trigger on a V90 CC. Beautiful wagon !!
@@johanneswarn5488 Kind of hard to do without breaking the FWD axle. I heard that the most you could expect out of one of those was 400 hp without damaging the axle.

Enthusiasts have been asking for something like this for years. Refreshing to finally have a manufacturer that supports us.
Its a very nice car. I'm a big fan of the S60 R. 300hp and 300 torque for the 2004-07 and the new ones push 325hp with 340 torque. They are a great sleeper for driving enthusiast with a family. Good power, decent fuel economy, and all the safety and reliability that is Volvo. Now with Polestar producing top quality aftermarket performance parts, its a viable street car.
I got to review a 2013 Volvo S60R and I loved it. I had it for a number of days and it was fantastic. Granted it's 325HP/355TQ vs. the Polestar's 508HP, but it was no slouch. It truly goes to show just how far Volvo have come that they can compete with the likes of the Audi S4 and BMW 335i.
This is the exact engine I need in my 2016 V60 Cross Country! Talk about the ultimate sleeper car. This beast has twice engine power. I do blow off Camaros, Challengers, Mustangs, etc. ...in the winter ❄️
Well they have the 2020 Volvo V60 T8 Polestar that has around 420HP and 500tq. A 4 cylinder that’s turbo and supercharged as well as a plug in hybrid with two motors moving the rear wheels. Sounds pretty sick
We recently bought a used v60 t6 rdesign with the polestar tune. I tried to fool my wife and it worked out great! The safety features already saved her life once and makes her happy and thats amazing. I havent showed her the performance mode yet. Thats just for me lol (makes quite a difference)
Very nice car! When I was a tech for Volvo I always loved working on the R line and driving them. This thing is miles above the standard R line Volvos and those were fast, I can't imagine the performance the Polestar has.
i REALLY like Jay when he's not telling bad jokes and pretending to care about miserable celebrities. If this had been the Tonight Show, I'd have watched it.
Volvo cars are actually very quick compared to other European cars. Most of them come with pretty big engines and very often with stock turbos (on both diesel and petrol engines). I would say that it is one of the best choices here in Europe.

Well yes, Hans failed to answer Jays question but that button he pressed on the steering wheel that keep the revs up is in fact the anti-lag system. It keeps the revs up, which keeps the boost up so there is no turbo lag between the gear shifts.
100 % agreed, If volvo let them, Polestar could be a competitor for AMG, M-power and Audi RS. Maybe not as prestigeous but performance wise, definetly.
I use to have a V60 a couple of years ago. Like the design and it is a reliable car especially during winter. This one is pretty cool but I prefer the C 63. It makes winter driving a lot more exciting =)

They make a 4 door M3 in case you didn't know, and they're about the same size. In terms of size the S80 is closer to the 5 series. They also didn't widen then whole car, the wheel track is wider (position of the hubs and/or offset of the wheel can create a wider wheel track) and they have wider fenders. Not that hard to accomplish.

This stuff is now higly sought after and there still is a bunch of aftermarket companies re-manufacturing these parts and even better stuff for the Volvo oldtimer..! Polestar is now, what Competition Department and R-Sport was before..!
The producers keep asking us for comments about how we like the vids? I think they are super enjoyable. The only thing that is happening in them that is off-putting, is the audio. Whoever the 'guest' is, their mic is ALWAYS turned to half the volume of Jay's mic, and also, the guest's mic seems to be a pretty crappy one too. As soon as the guest turns their head, the volume disappears. I appreciate this series though.
Polestar is just sort of starting up as a tuning company for Volvo and this is just to see what they can do and to get their name out there, as Jay said, just like AMG was a few years back with Mercedes. I would give them a couple of years to become more established as a tuning company before they start throwing out mass-production, affordable cars.
I'm afraid I can't really make out what you're saying. 14 years ago Ford bought Volvo and by then Volvo was producing cars with a Mitsubishi-derrived platfrom, agree. In 2004, when the second gen S40/V50 came, it used the the Ford C1 platform, designed in Cologne, Germany during two years time by 30 engineers from Volvo, Mazda and Ford and is loosely based on the Ford C170 platform. The P2, used in larger cars is a Volvo platform. And EuCD (used in the new cars) is a stretched C1.
Jay said Polestar are the equal to AMG in the 90's. It's a concept to show off the engineering potential Polestar has. So this is advertising themselves to other car manifactuers to use their engineering and sign a new car. Also i doubt they would take the risk to putting this straight into production which is down to Polestar themselves to say yes to in the first place. So Volvo for the time are supplying the customer demand with the R design and the Sweidish racing green colour option.
