Walter, It may seem like I'm picking on you again, However, One bad habit a lot of shooter do is ride the slide home when loading the first round in a 1911, If you do it a few times it doesn't hurt anything, however, if you do it all the time the fitting of the locking lugs in the top of the slide and the ramp's that ride on the slide stop under the chamber will ware unevenly and a ruined fit will be the end result causing progressive poor accuracy. So, when loading, pistol smith's advice is to use the slide stop and let the slide do the job of loading that first round insuring that the slide/barrel is fully seated as if the pistol is functioning loading while shooting the pistol in progression. - Dave
