I read in several sources that Madhouse hired real dancers doing the dance scene and they animated all by hand. I could not confirm it from official source. But most definitely Evan Call created the waltz for the scene only. Absolute musical genius!
Best bit of the dance sequence is just the tiny eye movements by Fern when they start. It's such a small detail but one that shows so much thought/emotion with so little movement.
It will sound strange but it feels good when someone cries while watching Frieren. As a guy and living in a world of stereotypes, I often cry when watching anime myself. Guys cry less often but seeing that I'm not the only one who cries almost every episode of this anime gives me an inner comfort ;p What a beautiful story and journey. Thanks!
Same! I cry watching anime (and other stuff) all the time! (I've watched Frieren & Frieren reactions a bunch of times & I pretty much just need to hear Himmel's voice to start to tear up!)
You guys had me worried that we wouldn't even get to EP 15, but you recovered magnificently. Chillih and Nesa fight like Fern and Stark, and Fern and Stark fight like an old married couple. Cutest slow-burn romance in anime but then they are only about 18! Very fun reaction vid of another beautiful Frieren episode.
You guys need to remember that Stark now studied Etiquette, the Orden art of Swordsmanship and how to ride horses. Kinda to show that Stark is growing more confident (he’s a coward now) and more than just a warrior who’s good with an axe. The end of the journey Stark will be someone outstanding (just like Himmel)
It’s clear Himmel loved Frieren, nobody can refute that. As for him not being vocal about that, there could be a few reasons why, which you both mentioned. One reason may be so he wouldn’t cause her pain after he’s gone, since losing someone you love is heartbreaking. And the other being he knew she, and Elves in general live apathetically, and aren’t as emotionally mature and intelligent as other’s like humans. And therefore chose to show his love, rather than say it. Whatever his reasons for not saying anything to her, he loved her, and I believe she understands that as of episode 14. She’s learning by taking the time to slow down, and by observing other’s like Stark and Fern, who kinda mirror her and Himmel, and are what they could of been. I believe she loved him, only she didn’t understand it at the time. it’s only through this new journey that she’s understanding not just her own feelings, but those of others from the hero party, and those in the present. Final thing, the clock tower signifying the only thing that stood between them was time, is also offset by their hands and the eternal love ring being joined in the middle of the clock tower, signifying that their love transcends time. It’s bittersweet, beautiful and tragic in equal measure.
The budding romance between Fern and Stark is great because it's much more realistic than with other romance in anime. There's a natural relationship flow that's more relatable.
6:04 you gotta love the animators. The yellow exclamation mark popping up is so out of place compared to the rest of the show, but somehow it feels like it needs to be over that loot goblin of an elf.
If they make a season 2 and it covers a similar amount of the manga as season 1, I sooooo want to see how she handles the last three episodes of that season 😅
I've been bingeing on reactors watching Frieren, for some reason there's a second wave of waters. Your is one of the top, because (Nesa) doesn't hold back her emotions. I don't see the point of trying to hide your emotions when watching an emotional show~ it guarantees I will not come back to watch you, because y ou are trying your hardest to not be genuine. Count yourself lucky you have someone like (Nesa) on your reactions, she's one of the most real reactors out there!~ I assume she's Nesa, but you never announce your names on screen, so I am guessing.
I have to admit this is the first time a comment hurts me, yes I am very lucky to be with Nesa, but it hurts me seeing people thinking I'm not genuine and that I'm "hiding my emotions" everyone is different, I am not obligated to cry just because "I'm supposed to" on an emotional scene (that wouldn't be genuine would it?) I have cried at many pieces of fiction before just because I didn't show "emotion" on a specific scene that doesn't mean I don't respect it, most of the time I'm just mind blown by the way this show does things and those thoughts in me overpower the emotional moment for me. -Chillih
Do you really think it was necessary to leave something like that to the guy. You sound like a total simp, that just wants to hurt him out of jealousy. Doesn't give a good impression to people that understand what you are doing.
@@ChillihNesa I understand English is not your first language, so my text can be misinterpreted. When I say 'You' i mean the collective 'you' of reactors, not YOU specifically. There are many reactors who refuse to show emotion, which makes them bad reactors. Because of Nesa, YOU (as a channel) don't fall under that category. This is why I said your channel is one of the TOP. Sorry if you took it personally. And thank you for letting me know your name so I know who is who.
Massively in-denial lol It was not meant to be, it's sad but good stories aren't afraid to have sad things that remain sad to the end You will understand what Himmel realized and why it was not meant to be at episode 16 when you guys get to it There is a reason why Himmel did not mention his feelings to Frieren On top of that Frieren doesnt realize all this (and is only beginning to realize it) because shes a child. Yes shes 1000+ years old but shes an elf. In elf years thats a child, they do not grow up and mature like us humans It was very painful to hear her blame Himmel for certain things that show lack of empathy like he hasnt shown to be the most empathetic person in the whole show.
I don't really think Frieren is a child by elf standards. Sure, she cuts a rather petite figure, but so do other grown women both in this anime and out of it. Her proportions are not that of a child, and without a large enough cross-section of elves to compare her with there's no way to know whether her behavior would count as it either.
@@lewstherintelamon244 its not just about her proportions. You pretty much can compare her demeanor to an actual adult elf already. Kraft has been around since ABSOLUTE ancient times no one nowadays even knows what he did long ago. Frieren is an absolute child who has not matured yet in elf standards
@@ChiisaiRamen The issue is we also have another elf in this series who, in some ways, seems less mature than frieren but in reality is oldest (BY FAR) out of the three elves we're introduced to this season. So really, you really can't attribute her demeanor to her young age.
@@FlashlegendSC That is because that particular elf did not have meaningful interactions with people who are equals to her. Her interactions with others are just people who revere her. Because Frieren has friends who have given her an experience, she is growing up sooner than elves typically would. Which is whats going on in the series at the moment.
@@ChiisaiRamen And how exactly do you know that to be a fact? There is no indication in the show as to what her life has been like prior to a little more than the last 1000 years and we both know she is SIGNIFICANTLY older than that. Considering the knowledge she has accumulated, it's very difficult for me to believe that is true. If you say you've read ahead and know from them explicitly explaining that in the manga, fine. But if that isn't the case, it sounds like you're just making things up to fit your narrative.
"All of this is mostly Himmel's fault" 😂 Bro was too considerate, kind and good for this world

the best part is the entire dance sequence in the manga is just 1 panel
the animators were just flexing with that sequence
Frieren only had 5 seconds to defeat that monster. Unfortunately for it, that's about 4 seconds more than she needed.
4 seconds for her to decide to wake up 😂
