In the Manga, their dance was just 1-2 panels at most. Madhouse really boosted the ship with the beautiful sequence❤

The craziest thing about the dance scene (other than the fact that it's just 2 panels from the manga), is that it's all hand-drawn, using real choreography as reference. In other words: Every single frame of that animation was completely hand-drawn. Just shows how passionate the people behind this show are.

Rewatching this episode with you made me realize how sad that moment her old friend demonstrated memory loss. There are so many ups and downs with this show it’s hard to say which moment was most happy or sad but rewatching that moment hit me

If there is one upside to the lifespan issue, it's that elves don't seem to deteriorate mentally with age. Frieren remembers things from a thousand years ago as clearly as she does from eighty years ago. For elves the issue is more about other people forgetting important things from the past.
14 15 16 are straight up gut punches of emotion - a rollercoaster of happy and sad. it's insane how much frieren manages to touch you. amazing reaction as always

Madhouse hire a dance school and let the person dance the waltz so the animat0r can look and watch while they doing this. No rotoscope everything is handdrawn. Evan Call wrote for just the scene a new waltz. Love the details.

I heard Madhouse hired professional dancers to work with the animation team to ensure the scene's integrity & professionalism.
This show actually makes many of those side quests that never seemed to make sense in MMO's...suddenly feel right. I'm not saying you have to do them all, but they don't feel so out of place.
