Recently an active member of the New Vegas modding community, Desert Ranger, who was best known for FNV Arsenal Weapons Overhaul, passed away. His family is collecting money to create an association to help others like him with Asperger's and if you’d like to help, here’s a link to where you can donate.

I'm not very familiar with the New Vegas modding community, because I play on console, but I extend my thoughts and prayers to his family.
@Nagger he only made the videos about the mod, desmo and some other modders are creating the mod. i will miss his videos quite a bit.

What happened?
And so the Courier, who had cheated death in the cemetery outside Goodsprings, cheated death once again, and the Mojave Wasteland was forever changed. Because war... war never changes.

Love how they patched a bug and the community is like “No! Give that back!” And makes a mod that brings the bug back.
Honestly theres so many small things they coulda done. Gunshot sound effects and shouts as ambience woulda been amazing. Also the NCR radio during it is very calm and theres not a single shout or really intense order given.

@@theoneandonlydetraebean8286 Not just most, ALL of them except Josh Sawyer. Unless the NV writing team (or at LEAST John Gonzalez) are brought back, a theoretical NV2 would be pretty trash if the quality of Obsidian's recent releases are anything to go by.
Fun Fact : Black Isle's Fallout 3 originally had Hoover Dam as location in the game. It was ment to be a NCR City with the Followers of Apocolypse / Crimson Caravan and a big part of the the NCR v. Brotherhood War Side-Quest which would have tied into an Sequel (Which turned into New Vegas by design).
The quests involved you helping NCR Governor Dodge around the Dam and some NCR missions in New Mexico, such as cleaning out the sub level, restoring power, getting the City Council back up, and negotiating Peace between the BOS and NCR.
Doing Nothing could cause low morale on the NCR and BOS to storm the city and Dodge to off himself in the process, and Allis (A BOS Elder) to take over, changing life completely around the Dam, while helping would cause an stalemate / ceasefire for both sides.
Taking too long, the FEV would sweep through, causing the NCR to die out and BOS to take over still. If the FEV wipe them out, Super Mutants take over the Dam, causing more issues then needed.
Van Buren was truly a missed opportunity. Wish we could have seen it released but oh well, at least we got New Vegas.
@@ladela7348
Ye, true.
New Vegas is Van Buren 2 anyway. Or, was ment to be Fallout Tactics 2 technically since it was ment to focus on the Brotherhood Vs NCR.
Still cool they went back and just used their sequel idea and made a game out of it.

The first three fallout games AND New Vegas are actually getting remakes as mods for Fallout 4 (Vault 13, Project Arroyo, Capital Wasteland Mod and F4NV).
Hannibal just throwing him outta the verti has to be the bug with the most personality
New Vegas doesn't need a sequel, it needs to simply be completed the way the dev's had in mind with new technology, a higher budget, and no time constraints. I hope Microsoft lets this happen, it'd be an easy win and make them millions: "New Vegas: Complete Edition"
A sequel would probably flop honestly, as the majority of those who made New Vegas don't work for Obsidian anymore.
A New Vegas sequel would be a shadow of itself. However a remake is wholly possible for current Obsidian, as they have the groundwork in place for much of the game. They'd just need to add in the eastern half of the map and Legion territory, and have someone like Trianglecity on hand who actually knows all of what was cut.
I'm not saying they would be able to pull it off though, only that they _could_
@@planescaped - This is absolutely correct. New Vegas was a unique situation that would be very difficult, if not outright impossible, to replicate again. It had the benefit of having the following conditions in place:
1) Lore/story was largely completed (Van Buren concept), with numerous designs and story beats being adapted from the latter (saving a ton of time in writing/pre-production)
2) It had a ton of legacy content from 3 already content-complete, meaning it could be popped in with no delay
3) A reduced development period (by design, depending on who you talk to) - that meant the team had to work at breakneck speed to get the thing out the door in 18 months, while simultaneously trying to cram in as much content as they could
4) A unique DLC schedule that utilized cut content from the game to create an overarching narrative that spanned four separate DLCs.
5) It had a fair number of designers, writers and editors who had worked on the Neverwinter Nights 2 DLC Mask of the Betrayer, which is commonly held up as one of the best DLCs ever made for a western RPG.
Interesting, I remember playing FNV again and when I got to Hoover Dam, I always had a feeling something was missing, like these fountains or these scaffoldings and I wondered why they were gone and even thought they were never there at all, but apparently, they were.
yeah
the whole game I felt like something Is missing. I never realized what it was until I learned the game was severely cut in size.
This game needs to be remade with all the cut content put back in and more faction choices made available.
Not really a remake but the Jsawyer mod adds back in a lot of the cut content from the game and is the closest were gonna get to a remake/remaster for a while I think

Okay wow this brought back some memories. My first playthrough of NV was unpatched on ps3 and seeing all this stuff disappear always made me think I was going crazy or something. I can't remember exactly if there were ever any actual dogs during the final fight, but there was 100% a gate in the camp with the message saying you could lock it to prevent legion hounds from appearing.
Yeah that option exists, you can lock a door there it eases the fight a little bit
3:28 a discussion about cut content.
Buggy physics in FNV: allow me to introduce myself
man, it would be neat to see a mod that reenables all of the props or objects like the flags, corpses and water fountains, that were disabled by patches to make it more like the original release
New Vegas is already probably the best game of all time, if they had a year or two more to work with or if there hadn't been such a focus on 360 and PS3 the game would be insurmountable. Or both. Either way just imagine them remaking the game on a new engine with all the concepts they originally wanted to implement.
The special Hoover Dam armor explains why I had so much trouble during the battle when I showed up with no condition on my armor and assumed I'd get by with jury rigging.
Minor correction - at 14:11, the DLC your referring to was “Operation Anchorage”, not “The Pitt”. O.A had the elevator ride to meet the outcasts, but there was no elevator ride at all in T.P.
Just what I needed.
holy shit I remember those walkways on the side of the dam from when I first played - never noticed they were gone.
got stuck in there with loads of legionaries in the final battle lol
Are there some cut contents from Honest Heart ? Out of all the DLCs, it's the one that seems the most empty and it gives me that same "unfinished vibe" as the original game.

I wish there was a mod pack or something to bring back all this stuff
Consoles: The old nut cracker of the past 3 decades.
They couldn’t release an only PC version with all the cut content?
@@michaelponiatowski363 Sadly it's just not very viable to release wildly different versions of a game for different systems. It's a lot of extra work sometimes, which might not be something you have the time to do. Not only that, the PR side of things might get messy when people point out how much the console versions "suck" in comparison to the PC, and they might not buy it.
Guys, a remake wont fix these problems. Generally, remakes never bring back deleted content and most of the time, they even remove from the original, shortening the game lenght. Only modders can restore this content...
Yea. Its Bethesda we're talking about. We know they're just gonna cut more and make everyone unhappy.
@@USSCYT idk man, Microsoft owns obsidian and Bethesda now, so they could make it happen. Microsoft knows how to make money, if we damn near harass them on social media and beg for them to let obsidian make the game they wanted to make the first time. They would make a shit ton of money if they gave obsidian as much time and let them add in as much as they want, and papa Microsoft loves money. Bill Gates isn’t the richest man in the world anymore, he needs this
@@TrailMix135 you are right, however this also gets in the way of an already existing issue with New Vegas and Obsidian. The former employees behind NV no longer work there, with the exception of a handful of guys that still work there. Josh Sawyer has always been positive about working in anything Fallout related tho, so that could be a thing maybe, but I don't see NV being remade in the near future.
@@francocavecchia8246 yeah, I don’t think it’s ever going to actually happen, especially with most of the original new Vegas staff gone from obsidian, but my hope is that if they ever did do it, they’d invite as many people back for it as possible. But even if they can’t get everyone, The Outer Worlds is a promising enough experience that I would trust the new staff with a fallout project. Maybe we’ll get a sequel at some point? Idk I try to be hopeful
Some remakes though are direct improvements. Take Metro 2033 and Metro 2033 Redux. Several game elements were improved such as using Metro Last Light’s HUD design, and to my knowledge nothing was cut. Another good remaster/remake was Modern Warfare Remastered. There were multiple Easter Eggs added into the campaign and again nothing was removed. You can argue about how broken some of the DLC in MWR Multiplayer is but that’s another story.
I guess what I’m saying is this; a remake of FNV, with cut content and maybe some changes made based on improvements from Fallout 4 (maybe optional HUD changes, or added guns, take your pick but I think it would be cool) would be perfect. Imagine the capability FNV Remake would have on PS5
Patrolling the RUclips almost makes me wish for Triangle City content!
I think what I'd have liked to see would be if the player did in fact fight their way along the bottom of the dam, while sound emitters that emit shooting, shouting and screaming, explosion effects and the occassional ragdoll flung off the top would give the impression of a big battle that goes on above as the player fights NCR Rangers and/or Legion centurions & Praetorians that are trying to flank around and bomb the other side's access route. It's a much more efficient way to imply a battle is going on without showing it, while at the same time not necessarily feeling like you're on the sideline.
Always excited when one of your vids pops up into my feed. Appreciate the content brother!
Can I just say thank you for creating the content you do. These videos are so interesting and I love for cut content. I particularly found the parts about the Arizona spillway as well as anything touching on the eastern part of map very interesting. I’ve often wondered what the spillway was and if it had purpose. Absolutely loved this video
Thank you for validation, I always remembered these details and others from past videos as I played the original version and just thought I'd mis remembered things like the walk to the legion camp being longer or the scaffolding
By far the coolest episode so far!!! Really enjoyed this one!!!
It's one thing to see things abandoned before leaving the planning phase, that's fine, honestly the map was big enough as is. But seeing all these nice little details being REMOVED later? That's painful.
It's likely that even more was removed prior to release in performance passes. Sadly we'll probably never know what they had to remove for consoles during that time, short a very early build dropping.

Surprised you didnt talk about the unique anti material rifle held by one of Oliver's guards if you fight him
Apologies if you've done this before, but it would be cool if you did a video about the area around Novac, CottonWood Cove, and Searchlight airport. It feels like some areas there, like the hills between CottonWood Cove and Techatticup Mine, were meant to have more content there. Also HELIOS One has Legion soldiers that occupy the building after the NCR is killed, but only two of them, suggesting more content might have been planned maybe. Also as well near Novac, between ranger station Charlie and Legion raid camp, there's a trigger that plays a door opening sound fx which was probably meant to be cut out.
I’m in agreement about novac, it’s my favourite settlement!
i can remember a few of these things from my release copy of fnv back in the day, and i was ALWAYS curious if Lanius had a face or not!
Thousands of hours and theres always something new to find
FONV is one of the few games I believe would be very cool to see remastered or remade, with restored cut content, or some of the original visions of the game, considering now a decade later, consoles and PCs have much more power on tap and some areas could see their full potential realized.
These videos make me want modders to bring back a lot more of the cut content.
The final battle at Hoover Dam always felt like a massive anticlimax for me. I realise it was due to time and engine limitations but it felt dissappointing to go to this final battle that the whole game had been building up to, and find about 30 people involved in the whole thing.
Holy shit Lanius hit the Courier so hard he became the Hunchback of Notra Dame

I have to say I appreciate this series and your channel because I currently play Fallout New Vegas on my Ps3 and knowing so much content was gone and to see what would have been I love knowing the hidden things and unknown quirks about Fallout New Vegas.
This is probably the biggest example (aside from Freeside/The Strip) of how having to make the game playable on consoles forced them to scale things back and cut things post-launch. Thank God for mods so that PC players can experience the game more or less as it was intended.
There’s some real nice cut content mods for us. A massive legion expansion one just came out and it’s a beaut.
Man, just imagine the absoslute masterpiece this game would've been if they made it on current gen stuff with more time
Ive always thought the battle of hoover dam felt empty. Anyways nice video!
what game(s) are you planning on covering after NVs cut content is finished? love the vids man been subscribed for a long while, perfect for watching while wrapped in a blanket. peak comfy.
14:05 , that's not from The Pitt, it's from Operation: Anchorage. You ride it down to the outlying Brotherhood base, where you find the VR gear to liberate Anchorage, and the incorrectly-specified power armour. Instead of the one you were meant to get, you get the VR-version, which is undamageable! Makes playing a somewhat-fun DLC fairly early in the game worth bothering. You're then powered-up for the rest of the game, training included.
If only New Vegas was a PC exclusive, console held it back so hard

Learning more and more of what FNV /could/ have been, and even the impact it made, makes me respect Obsidian even more, and detest Bethesda even more.
This game deserves to be talked about twenty more years from now.
So much cool stuff is making me want to obtain an unpatched FNV for my PC and get back into Fallout.
It’s insane how damn limited the engine was, the multiple hacky stuff they had to do to get simple stuff like an ncr radio working
Yoo I remember the old scaffolding when the game first release!
You should make a video compiling the cut content you think should return. Sort of like a personal ultimate edition
Damn, just from watching all these cut content videos for New Vegas you can really tell that the console versions held back a lot of content. Makes you wonder what could have been if the game was pc only.
We can only hope this game gets a remaster. This game feels unfinished especially the Legion side
There were problems across all platforms. When I upgraded my PC from a dual to a quad core back in the days I had to force the game to use 2 cores because looking at the sun crashed the game if it ran on 4 cores. If that problem had been more widespread they might have just disabled the sun flare effect to fix the crash. The problems with NV are not just the lower console specs. It was mainly the 18 months development. No time to balance and optimize things properly across all platform so they just had to cut until it ran properly.
