I can't even eat shellfish but still I watched the video. I'm also tempted to pop a bunch of Benadryl and try these with a side of epi pen.

I usually pop 10-12 benadryl and smoke some good weed when i watch chef john. I love his cadence and tone of voice.

When I was stationed in South Korea in 1985, there were street vendors that sold mussels from a cart. So every time I eat them, it always takes me back. A very nostalgic and comforting food. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! As mentioned, just add the fries and this is an awesome spin on one of my favorite Belgian dishes, “Moules Frites” (aka mussels and fries). Yummmm.
Chef john i am sure you know this and probably most of the subscribers/viewers do also, but if your mussels are being stubborn with releasing cleanly from the shell, an oyster shucking knife or small paring knife will remove them very easily, and the mussels muscle (attached to the shell bottom, no pun intended , well maybe it was intended, but had to be said because your dry humor is contagious,lol) for those who may be new to the seafood or cooking world, i love this show, everyone have a great day.

I tried the sweet thai chili sauce today, wow. My dad accidentally took a big spoonfull of it thinking it was something different and ended up coughing, eyes watering. I was like thats a dipping sauce.
This is like a way-fancier version of the mussels I get at my local Asian buffet, only they serve theirs with Italian dressing on it! I never would've thought to put those two together before, but they're really good that way too.

Chef John, i was watching this for the 2nd time, and i guess i missed it on the first run, no way did you mention Nipsey Russells name. Lol, i have not heard that name in appx. 35 years, at least, so you are giving away your age and mine. You said"you are the Nipsey Russell of your mussel" and i almost fell off the chair,lol, i am not sure i even recall the game show he was on, i want to say Match Game, but i am not sure, then there was the one lady named Brett and i can't recall her last name. Pro tip: asian grocery stores often have better muscles than the ones you find in the seafood section of most stores and are still better than many dedicated seafood markets. I'm a seafood fanatic, i harvest my own clams, and I love local seafood over all others and my family are all the same way, but we still like the ones from the asian stores more.
