Your camera work has gotten so good over the years. I've loved watching you cook and hearing your soothing voice (been subscribed for a longgg time), but the images throughout these videos have gotten so clear and beautiful. They keep getting better and better. You really do the beautiful ingredients and final product justice 👌🏻just stunning.
I've attempted to recreate more of your recipes than I can count, all of my family and friends know you by name. I give credit where it's due! Aside from practicing daily, I've learned most of what I know about cooking from you. Thank you! Please keep up the excellent work for many years to come
+Dairon1869 Thank you!
+Food Wishes agreed! the voice has always been amazing
I agree with you
+Dairon1869 yup same here, been subbed for quite a long time. I learned most of what I know from recreating these recipes. Now I don't even follow recipes anymore. Thanks to this channel I feel I learned the logic of cooking and now I just throw stuff together lol. Thanks Chef John!
Chef John is one of the greatest RUclips Chefs. I don't even like clams yet I am sitting through the video enjoying it
Agreed!
haha! Me too! I know that I'm never going to make this but I watch it anyway.
me too
I don't do clams, but I might try with mussels
You make this Spanish girl who moved to he US extra happy every time you upload something like this! Great job
By the way Whole Foods has amazing Spanish chorizo (some info for those who can't find it )
+Iris Cv I'm Spanish too, but I've never tried or seen clams with chorizo in Spain. Have you ever tried this?
I tried making these for my boss for a formal dinner meeting, but then somehow managed to burn them. In a hasty panic I snuck out of my kitchen window and bought hamburgers.
That steamed hams reference was done right
I thought we were having steamed clams
Plum Windmills No, no I said steamed *hams* . That's what I call hambugers.
Lies! You didn't make steamed clams. You burned a roast and told your boss that you were making clams!
I’ve had all the water & wine cook off when making clams. It’s very frustrating.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - Chef John, you da Man! Please keep 'em coming. Thanks so much.
ahh. your videos make me so happy. you explain things in such a simple yet funny/witty/entertaining matter. NUMBER 1 RUclips CHEF RIGHT HERE
Chef John, my wife and I (and possibly our 3rd child) thank you!
You are the Barry White of our Steamed Clams Delight!
Chef John, you keep making me hungry. Not a bad thing. Several years ago I had the good fortune to work on a Spanish Cable Ship based out of Curacao. We would have this dish several times and also Paella almost every Sunday. I miss those meals with the Officers aboard ship.
Keep up the good work and thanks for bringing back some very good memories.
I think that is really good, although i've never had clams before! What a great recipe as usual!
I love clams. Gonna make this real soon. Thanks chef John!
Wow. Thank you. This is essentially the same recipe my mum used to use to make one of my favourite dishes. Sadly she died before ever having a chance to give me the recipe. Thank you Chef John, you have no idea how much this recipe means to me.
Chef John is the bomb! Love his rhetoric
"Why is there smoke coming out of your oven, Seymour?"
+Inept Swordsman you are an odd fellow but I must say, you steam a good ham
*A U R O R A B O R E A L I S*
AT THIS TIME OF YEAR, AT THIS TIME OF DAY, IN THIS PART OF THE COUNTRY, LOCALISED ENTIRELY WITHIN YOUR KITCHEN!
Not in Utica, it's an Albany expression
I see
this looks so good
I just finished making your recipe for my family, but I added shrimp as well! Awesomely easy & DELICIOUS!!!!! I LOVE your recipes - thank you!
I made this for dinner, it's amazing! My husband loves it, he ate the whole thing :D Thank you!!!
Love your videos!! Can't wait to make these meals for my husband.
I've been watching your videos for a couple of years and I love them! Your recipes and humour are fantastic! Thank you for keeping me well entertained - and my dinner guests very impressed. 😋
We’re going clamming for the first time tomorrow morning! I hope we catch some and we can try your recipe!! You’re the best, Chef John!

chef John you always get me motivated to cook, keep doing what you do.
one of the best cooking channels i've ever come across. always interesting stuff. amazing voice and production value.
Looks so good !!!
I'm going to try this over the weekend!!!!
Anything even remotely Spanish inspired, authentic or not, is bound to be one of the best things I've ever eaten IMO.
Also, too bad we can't libertarian up the TSA a bit, they took my Bellota ham when returning home and I'm still stightly hurt by it.
Parece ser fantástico e saboroso! Muito obrigado pela receita chefe
This is tasty, very tasty. Did this with mussels before and you just can't stop eating, ever.
Yes that looks delicious
I loved the Rand Paul shout out!!
Man, chorizo has such a beautiful color. So tasty too...
John you rocked this one......I am going to do this in my Cataplana with mussels for New Years....It will be a great starter...Thanks for sharing...Cheers Jeff
I love clams and I love Chorizo 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️. Chef John I just love you!
That looks very delicous, will give it a try!

Excellent! Would love to see you do a oyster video, since I can't get clams on the Mississippi Gulf Coast
Chef John inspires me.
This is remarkable.
wow amazing recipe
This looks amazing!
I thought you said we were having steamed clams? No, you misheard me, I said steamed hams! That's what I call Hamburgers!
+zanesmith666 and you call them steamed hams despite the fact that they're obviously grilled
SEYMOUR! THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE!
@@madskillz808 No mother it's just the northern lights.
Well Seymour, you are an odd fellow. But I just say, you steam a good clam.
@@H0n3yMonstah May I see it?
Oh how I wish that I could get fresh clams. No such thing in rural Kentucky :-)
I used to live in San Fran. I walked to the docks for fresh Seafood often.
I would have never thought of this combo. Looks great! TY John :-)
Chef your Clams and your sausage look Awesome... :)
Mmmmm, steamed clams
Thank you! This looks perfect!
I've never had clams before and yet here I am googling on where to buy them now!
make sure you are not ilrgic if you never had them
+Muzna Taj Precisely, being ilrgic would be so unfortunate!
+Sanna Benba I think being ilrgic adds to the fun
I got to admit, from time to time, being ilrgic does come in handy.
Well excuse the fuck out of her. Clams are not quite easy to find. Even my local fish market (which is huge) does not have them most of the time.
And yes, I am a self-proclaimed Chef John's advocate of peace (And sarcasm, but shhh).
I know this may sound stupid to somebody but I but I always have my top 10 people I'd love to meet before I die.
This could be actors sports figures politicians is allocations whatever.
Jeff John made this list. I think he is a
Good man , and knows his stuff about
cooking. His videos give me a sense of
calmness, positivity, wellbeing , and in a relaxed state of mind. Thank you Chef !
Giving this a try this weekend! Thanks!
This looks SOOOOOO goood
"Skinner with his crazy explanations, the Superintendent is gonna need his medication when he Skinner's lame exagerations there'll be trouble in town tonight!"
Great idea.
Do you have a cookbook on the market
I don't like clams but darn it all if I'm not digging this recipe! Chorizo is excellent in an of itself so adding it here is icing on the cake!
thanks! came out great!
Your video's really rock. Each one is better then the next. Great VLOG's.
When I think of steamed clams I think of Krusty burgers.
+glaxko2 that doesn't sound appetizing. what kind of stew do you have?
aurora borealis
I'm not usual a fan of Clams but this looks sooooo good. I reckon i'd eat the broth on its own :)
What is the size is the white Le Creuset dutch oven you always use? Thanks. I love your videos.
I just made these. The broth is worth dying for. Subbed shallots for the onion.
Amazing video thx a lot! sorry but can i ask why couldn't you add the butter before you add in your clams so it is easier to stir and mix better together?
John, I absolutely love your videos and I've been watching them for a couple of years now, but one thing that I would like more of is desserts for people that are allergic to milk, egg and nuts, which I am! :) It's sometimes really hard to find good recipies so I'd really appreciate some of your tips :)
Big fan of the Chorizo, but I have to say that I'd absolutely love to see more recipes featuring Portuguese Chourico, which is far superior IMO.
Nope. #spanishmasterrace
Having tasted both, I approve of... freaking both!
Do you mean Linguica? Chourico is really just the Portuguese word for Chorizo, and even if it's made in Portugal, it's really just a replicate of the classic style/recipe originating in Spain. Don't get me wrong though; I love Linguica, but both are very different. Linguica has a distinct anise flavor with coarser chunks of pork and is often milder (although I've seen spicy variations), while Spanish Chorizo is more garlicky, peppery, and spicier, while also a redder in color.
(One thing to note: In Brazil, Linguica is the word used when referring to Chorizo; while Chourico is used when referring to Morcilla, which is a blood sausage known throughout the rest of Latin America.)
+gabrielgvs0619 What is the difference between Portuguese and Spanish chorizo? :) Thanks
grimTales1 The country.
That sure does look good!
nice video!!!
yes. yes. yes. please.
no
Making this today!!
Remember screw top doesn't mean bad, screw top means cheap. Lmao GOLD. I love this recipe. Thanks Chef John.
awesome commentary and recipe :D
Chef John, we need some mexican recipes, please!
With hopes for the future, a hungry mexican.
chef John, if I can't use wine what can I use else?
broth or stock. your choice
When you cook wine the alcohol evaporates so it's totally safe for kids and people who don't like alcohol
+Iris Cv they could be asking for religious reasons
+Manabinbe this is exactly why I can't use wine
+Ahmed Adel Mahrous then i would take the first commenter's advice! stock would be fine
So simple!
yum!
would love to see a video on
kalua pork, manapua.
possibly some Pho to go with the bah-Mi
Chef John does have a Pho recipe :)
Looks good Jhon
I mastered my mussels recipe now I need to do the same with clams.
That's a money maker. Deelicious!
This is such a beautiful dish! Very nicely done Chef! TFS :))
Chef, Can you try to make M&S milk bottles?
It is so tasty.
I love the idea of this dish; it's simple, looks great and (probably) tastes fantastic. My only qualm with these clam/mussel dishes is, that they don't really satisfy a proper hungry person.
If I were to use this as an appetizer (or in combination with pasta) would you have any suggestions on a complimentary entree?
I haven't made this yet, you really need good chorizo,... but I had this exact dish in NYC and it was the best dish I ever had.....again you need some really good chorizo.
+Paul Kitas Oh BTW the chief told me he uses a hard chorizo from Portugal,.. I haven't been able to find it.
+Paul Kitas couldn't you just use spicy pepperoni. .. same thing...
you should try to make some piroshki's
We eat a lot of this in Portugal, I’ll be doing my Fathers recipe on my channel soon 🥰 just subscribed to you 💪🏽
Can i do with Mussels?
yes
+Benkő Zsolt Did you even watch the video...?
Thanks for this recipe, chef John. It's an unusual association, but I am sure it tastes good:-).
I love sauasge ;)
+1 for the Rand Paul shout :)
Living in Gothenburg on the west coast (best coast) FRESH SEA FOOD is da bomb
Love 'dem clams !!
Chef John could you do a Lima Bean recipe? My parents always made slow cooked Lima Beans with smoked turkey legs/ham hocks and seasoning during the winter. It was cheap and easy and it kept me warm. Black eyed peas also work.
durp
Well I know what I'm having this weekend!
Oh, that chorizo seems softer than the harder-than-titanium nunchucks I am used to. Man, I'd like to try those.
I think he used Mexican soft chorizo. Not as good as the hard ones you're used to from Spain.
Hi chef! how about homemade vinegar?!
Chef John, sorry to say but this isnt a Spanish dish, but a Portuguese dish.
Its called "Ameijoas à Bolhão Pato" or translated to english, "Clams Bolhao Pato Style".
And it doesnt take chouriço!
But it looks delicis! Have to try it! thanks for the recipe.
What replacement do you suggest for the white wine? Can I use chicken broth?
I used Mikes Hard Lemonade and it was delicious!
That rand paul joke made me wake up my fiance from laughter. Good going ol boy.
Chef, I'm using thick sliced Nat.Hardwood smoked BACON !
Am I ok with with this ?
I also have 2 Doz small OYSTERS
that I will be using this bacon for.
Whadda yah think Chef ?
