Watch a Weaver Bird build a nest in a single day

  • The masked weaver bird is a skilled nest builder. Did you know he uses his beak and feet to weave the grasses together? While camped outside of Pretoria, South Africa, we watch this amazing bird build a nest in a single day. For real! There was another bird building in the same tree... it took him several days and it didn't turn out that well. (A video for another time maybe.)
The huge deal is, if the female doesn't approve the nest it gets ripped apart! And yes, he has to start over again. Was this nest approved? Watch and see.

This is so crazy, just imagine the built-in intelligence of these birds. No man taught them, yet by nature, are able to build a nest. Weaving and tying the branches together, something I’d have to go learn in a basket weaving class to be able to do myself. This bird is able to basket weave. A bird!! That’s crazy!!
