(Sparky came back home to us here in Arizona in the Spring of 2020) I rescued Sparky at 8 days old. I raised her for two years, then we needed to find her a home because we would be out of the USA for sometime. This was the hardest thing for me, she was truly the best pet I have ever had. I found her a very awesome home with a couple that lives in the Pacific NW. We moved her beautiful 8' x 6' aviary to her new home with her. Sparky loves her new home in the country and even goes outside without a cage with her new family, she is so smart, and stays close by.
I Wasn't sure if she would remember me since we had been gone 2 years. But once she heard my voice and the familiar whistles she wouldn't leave my shoulder. It was so touching to whistle duets with her. What a beautiful visit it was. We are working on our home in Arizona and she could always come back to us if the opportunity arises.

My starling “Peeps” is now 14 years old and still going strong, with lots of singing, talking, and of course kisses. I’ve had peeps since before her eyes were open and before she had any feathers.
How awesome...14 years!
That is awesome! I live in a small apartment and out birdie starling is 23 days old. Boy, does he poop a lot
My husband and I are trying to get her able to feed herself before releasing. It's becoming so bitter sweet and she has become a sweet pal but our place is way too small.
Congratulations, Peeps!
@@sarabarruffe5373 Peeps does poop a lot, but mostly just in one place in her very large enclosure now, even though we leave the enclosure open, a lot of the time, she goes there when she wants to poop.
These pests need to be eradicated along with English House Sparrows. They kill our native birds, smashing eggs and throwing them out of the nests then they kill the parents and take over the nests.
I’m so surprised. I had no knowledge of what Starlings are capable of. I wonder if Peeps shows affection to you? My 5 year old Senegal can be very affectionate sometimes. Is Peeps fully flighted or have her feathers been clipped? Birds captivate me in their intelligence and willingness to live with humans. Thanks for telling me about Peeps
I raised a starling too...male i believe. I named him "Horus". He stayed with me until he fledged and flew away with the local starling flock. After a couple of weeks he returned (on fathers day), landed on my shoulder, put his beak in my ear as he liked to do and finally flew away. I haven't seen him since. I assume he's found a mate and started his own family by now.
God is good brother
That’s incredibly sweet. If that’s the case, I hope Horus is thriving with his new family now. :)
Aww, That's a beautiful story thank you so much for sharing that❤
i am wondering if she gets to go outside. seems like she should get to fly with her family if she wants.
Thanks for watching.... BTW Sparky came home with us about 3 years ago. There are more videos of Sparky on her page on our RUclips channel.
It's very touching when Sparky remembers her. I was impressed by how well Sparky can talk.
This was just beautiful. My Auntie just passed away yesterday and I’ve been feeling lost. I didn’t come upon this by accident, she was a birder and this filled me up with peace and love. Thank you so very much.
So sorry about your Auntie. Thanks for watching.... Glad it made you feel better.... Also,, more good news, Sparky came home with us about 3 years ago. She has more videos on her Playlist.
Am sure this was a sign from her to you through her love of birds. So sorry for your loss but so happy you found peace in this video ❤️ many blessings of healing and love
This video interaction made my day!
So sorry about your Aunt. ❤
The fact that you're teaching her to sing "Amazing Grace" was not lost on me. We get lots of starlings here in Vegas during the winter months. They will play catch, just like the Grackles.
So far, in the past 8 years, I've rescued 12 pigeons, 2 sparrows and 1 mockingbird 1 of the sparrows still lives in the palm tree in my yard and 1 of the pigeons lives on the roof of the building across the street. Both are daily visitors and still my buddies after 2 years.
I'm all the way in.
I'm a lifer at this point. The only way you could get me to stop is if you put me in a place where there are no birds.
Sparky came home with us in Arizona about 3 years ago. There are more videos of Sparky on her page on our RUclips channel.
May God bless and protect you for doing the right thing.
Amazing
I l❤ve bird people xx 💋
Thankyou for caring for our wild life
I had no idea starlings could talk? Birds are so much smarter than we take them for xx
For such a small creature, they have a lot of neurons!
Must be for adaptive flight and quick reactions,
but can also help them mimic other sounds.
"Pip, Pip, Pip, Peep" (the old Grenwich hourly time signal), was copied by a Starling on a neighbours chimney, a bit odd, when it wasn't at the hour (twenty, fifteen, or ten minutes to!).
I cried when I saw this. Animals never cease to amaze me. I especially love birds. They are such a joy. Such a nice video.
me, too.
Me tooooooo❤️
The creatures of this planet are precious beyond words…❤️May they all be loved and respected someday. ❤️
So well said. It always amazes me that there are people who dislike the little creatures of our world. 🦋@@YT313YT
I love them too, they are natures jewels
Birds have deep, mystical animal souls. It’s remarkable, if you’re tuned into them, how they can go from being hilarious little goofballs to suddenly and seamlessly becoming a still, hypnotic presence reflecting back to us the stirrings happening within our own human souls. Your bond with Sparky is special and beautiful to watch. For such a tiny little being to cast such a huge spell upon your heart was an amazing moment to capture.
This comment was amazing. I 100% agree with that.
Beautifully written.
Truth. I feed cross and rasens and then play music to them and dance and they observera me. I love them. They have deep souls beautiful pure hearts. There must be a heaven for animals.
Move that electric outlet
I would advise you to strip of the psychedelics for awhile…
I love how you taught her to sing positive things. You are a good bird mom.
A neighbour inherited a sea captains African Grey,
the large cage had to be covered over, so it would doze off, when she had visitors, to save embarrassment!
The mild phrase was "Are you going yet?".
Its hard to whistle when you are crying. What a sweet bird.
Clara Nimmer Sweet lady.
I would be crying too. We think we enrich their lives when we rescue an animal but when it goes well, it is like a bit of heaven on earth how they enrich our life, even if only for a short time.
That moment of recognition through shared song was touching.
So precious.
This is so precious. I am glad you had the opportunity to reunite with her. Blessings to you both.
She has been back home with us for about 2 years now. There are a few other "Shorts" videos and some photos on the community page of her also. Thanks for watching!
@@undergroundandoffgridinari540 ooh i'm so happy for you
Starlings are very special birds. Their murmuration is one of the most astounding things in nature. This little girl is something else 🐦
How Wonderful & I Love It, Thank You!!❤
@@dorothyspainhower4637 yes I agree, what a lovely comment
Murmerations are amazing to watch I could never get bored of them.
Some folk think starlings are a pest , dunno why, they keep insect population down.
Sparkys a good girl !
OMG!! I had no idea starlings could talk. This is amazing. And the clarity of her voice is incredible... listen when she says “Sparky’s a good girl” after she sings her duet. Sounds like REAL human.
i was absolutely dumbfounded i had to rewind 3 times and still thought there was a third person off camera. So it is the bird and not only that, she even imitates the woman's voice very well.
In a weird roundabout way, their ability to learn speech is why they are in America in the first place. Starlings were introduced here by a group who wanted all of the birds mentioned in Shakespeare to be in the U.S. They released about 100 birds into Central Park in NYC around 1890. All the starlings in the US are dependents of those birds. They are in Shakespeare because in Henry IV part I Act I Scene 3 Henry Hotspur who has been forbidden to speak the name of Mortimer angrily says he will teach a Starling to say “Mortimer” and give it to the king. So you see, Shakespeare mentions them because they can be taught to talk and they are here because of Shakespeare. Weird huh?
What?! Now I have to re-watch it.
3:47
All five of my starlings talked. Their vocabularies were amazing. Angel Man even made up his own words like "excitimulated" and "magicited." Yes, they LOVE their baths!!
I miss my rescued Crow...I am in tears watching this! Birds are so intelligent!
When you said “Jesus loves you” it made me cry. What a beautiful relationship and beautiful message this video brings!!

I have two male starlings that I raised as babies. They are absolutely remarkable little birdies. They are spoiled rotten. I almost cried when she teared up because I can understand that love ❤️ 😍
Nikki I am currently raising a 5 week old starling. how can I tell if it's a male or female? besides going to a vet...
@nono lunt the color of their beaks. Youll probably need to put them in separate cages at some point if they're males because they get aggressive about their food. If you need or want advice feel free to contact me. They are amazing mimmicks & mine talk 🥰

The sweetest love flows when one opens their heart to a birdie. "Was blind but now I see..." Tiny sentient beings.
I would never look at a "wild" bird in the same way again. How amazing to be sharing our planet with these wonderful little beings. And after a full day of anything but, the calmness and serenity of this video brings me back down to ground. Thanks!
SACRED GROUND
This is a beautiful example that sentient animals deserve our utmost respect and love. We shouldn’t kill and eat any of them, but make them a part of our lives.
Yes, I do wonder what she had for lunch…
Starlings are insect eaters. All life deserves respect.
Thanks for watching. There are more videos of Sparky on her page on our RUclips channel.
i like how she's so much quieter when she's on your shoulder, she knows she doesnt have to shout.
A wild bird close up can be incredibly loud, it hurts your ears!
Especially the Wren, which sounds like an antique musical box (around the other way really).
OMG...absolutely precious...it doesn't get much better than this...your heart...makes me cry with you. She still knows you, remembers you...loves you...

Starlings are incredible. I was surprised to learn they are invasive. I like that they are here even if maybe they shouldn't be
Population has crashed in parts of the UK, they are now on the "Red List"!
I raised a wild bird I found in my yard . It had fallen out of its nest. It was a wonderful experience to raise it. It used to ride on my shoulder and take baths in my hand under the faucet over the sink. It would fly to me when i called it and would play a game with on my kitchen table. Running back and fourth from one side of the table to the next.
It used to go outside and fly to a tree in my yard but come back when it got hungry or just didn't want to stay out.
When a group of birds like it came to the tree it would visit them. Then one day it didnt want to come back when I called and i knew it had found its flock of friends and could live wild. Blink Bill was the cutest bird.
That's was an awesome experience for you.
It sure was wonderful . The bird was so sweet Andi loved it when it would ride on my shoulder and hide in the hair on the back of my head and make cute little chippering sounds. I love birds.
I bet it was the same feeling of a son leaving the parent's house
I guess I'll never be angry again when the starlings eat all our cherries 😍
Exactly
Teach them to say cherries please
They are absolutely thrilled to see each other. What a gem of a moment. Thank you for sharing it with the world.
i totally understand how she got attached to the bird, soo sweet

If only more people could see how beautiful just being kind and helpful can bring such warmth and joy, thanks for being such a wonderful person 🥰🇦🇺
What a wonderful human being. I hope the bird has the chance to fly outside.
She goes outside every day without a cage and she chooses to stay with me.
I live in a top floor flat and have a pair of starlings who visit a few times every day. They have a beautiful and strange song which I started whistling back to them a few years ago. It's not unusual for them to sit there for an hour chattering about whatever is important to starlings. Anyhoo, I thought whistling back to the birds was eccentric at least but after watching this, I feel better - it's obviously the birds who are crazy and not me.
Sparky has been back home with me over two years now, and we have birdy conversations all the time.
Have a whistling match with a Nuthatch!
They are such cheeky little birds.
"whit, whit, whit", they may reply, or come to see what the noise is.
Special bird. Thank you for sharing Sparky. 👍🏻
Oh this is so Absolutely Beautiful...she knows her Mum. Bless!....love is Huge between you both. Much love & blessings from Ireland x🥰🤗💕
What a beautiful little bird - one of the most touching videos i've seen : )
What a sweetheart. She was so excited. 😍🥰
I recently moved to a new apartment, and several European starlings hang out near my bedroom window in the mornings. They are such beautiful singers…such a variety.
What a beautiful and magical thing.
We raised 3... They stayed in our backyard for 2 years untill they individually left with local flocks.. VERY smart friendly birds..
That's a great outcome, and the right way to rehab wild birds!
How lucky for them! Thanks for doing this
Yes unless there is something wrong with them they should be released.
I am watching your video from Germany.
I was moved to tears when I saw and felt, how deep the relationship is between you and "your" starling you raised many years ago.
Since I have birds myself (two little parrots) I know, that every each birdsoul has its own unique personality!
When looking into their eyes while speaking to them, they will begin biulding a deep relationship to their owner.
I thank the owners so much for doing everything to make this cute, wonderful beautiful being happy!!

I so agree!
Birds are sooo awesome! My hubby and I rescued a baby robin this last month. (The nest was too high up to return him.) There are a bunch of stray cats in our neighborhood so we'd bring him into the laundry room at night and put him out during the day where his parents continued to care for him. He and dad took off last week but they came back for a visit yesterday. He's growing up so big and strong!
That's awesome

You have a heart of gold. I'm in tears.
Oh yes, that would be emotional for me too. Congratulations on your visit.
So wonderful to watch you two. We raised a young female sparrow, which was hurt and weak. She grew up, always cuddling with us, accidently got out of the window when she could not fly propperly. She screamed so hard for us, tried to get down the tree and was chased and hurt by other sparrows. It was such a hot day and she hat no time to rest for hours. Finally she found a way to get back to us, sneaked herself into my husband's hands and was so happy to be with us again. She had marks from attacks of the others and does not like to see birds of her own kind at all anymore. Now she is happy and sings with us and even alone to music. Warns us if any other sparrows are near, and there are a lot, and cuddles with us. What she does not is trying to get out of the house at all, she rather hides in her dark sneaky places. 😅

So cool that you had no doubts Sparky would remember you after so long.
Clearly, you found her a good home. Be glad for that.
When I moved to another country, I was glad that my best friend took my two pet rats and I knew they'd get good care. They were not young anymore, so when I was visiting half a year later, one had died and the other was old, half a year is a lot of time for a rat. Kobold did recognise me, but oh boy! He almost died of a heart attack when he did. He freaked out when he saw me, started hyperventilating and looked at me in horror. He must have thought that I was dead. Poor guy. I was so sorry that I made him feel scared.
I love all people who rescue.
Humans are just sharing this planet with all other living, sentient things. Humility and compassion remain far more valuable than money.

My aunt rescued a pair when they were a couple weeks old. Wind storm blew them from the nest and all attempts to reunite the mom with the chicks proved unfruitful as they both suffered injuries in the fall. So my aunt rescued the two of them and raised them together for a long time! Many years! Maybe 10 now and one of them is still alive and talking up a storm! Gonna share this with her! I had not a clue Starlings could talk? WOW! Very good video.
What a beautiful and clever bird. Starlings are often very under-rated.
Yes they are....and more beautiful up close.
I always work hard to protect them in my yard, thankfully they are very smart even as fledglings but when one gets out of pocket close to dark I will bring them in overnight to find their parents and siblings at sunup. They are so smart they intentionally stick to my chicken run while fledging because the whole chicken yard is fenced off from dogs and cats so as long as the starlings don't go through the fence they are safe. I've thought about keeping one as a pet but the poop is so...daunting. anyone who gets to know them loves them.
And yes! Jesus does love them! And all His animals.
Why on earth am I crying?? I don’t know how I got here but I’m crying.

It's hard to cry and whistle at the same time. Amazing the bond between you guys. Can't she go back into nature?
Starlings, wonderful as they are, are considered an invasive species in the US, and if you save one, I don't think you're supposed to release them back into the wild. I get the logic behind the law, but it sure does seem cold.
not a great idea to release a bird that's bonded to people anyway, it's next to impossible they figure out how to get food and find others of their species sadly. Less like freedom, more like death sentence. In the US, if they're a native species they'll have to be taken in by an accredited wildlife rehab as native birds are protected by the migratory bird act and are a federal crime to possess, but invasive birds can be kept as pets
That was so so sweet watching you tear up as you realized she recognized you. Beautiful moment 🥹❤️
