The petrol Abarth 500 managed to outlive its Fiat sibling once that car went electric two years ago, but Abarth has decided it’s now time for its pocket rocket to go green as well - something that this show car has taken quite literally. Join Rich as he takes you on a full tour of the new electric Abarth 500e and shows off its rather polarising new feature.

Would be worth the time to promote Transition One. They have kits to retrofit everyday Fiat 500s into EV runabouts for around €5000. Potentially Panda's too.
That's what automakers should be focusing on; refurbishing and retrofitting existing cars, not solely relying on brand new builds with ever growing profit margins.
That's more what we need to see now. But this Abarth e is only vindicating diehard EV haters.
Great expensive city car to wake up all your neighbours with super loud exhaust!
Lovely car. I prefer stealth. I wouldn't want my car's exterior to appeal to opportunists or professional thieves.
Just a question... how come you're only releasing this video now, when other reviewers had it on their channels a whole 2 months ago...???
That aside, like you said, if the sound generator can be switched on and off, then why not...? 😉
You lost me at sound generator. Goodbye.
I'd still have to wait a few years to see how reliable it tends to be. Otherwise it would be great for the daily commute and local errands.
Why would you buy an electric car and then add a fake engine and exhaust sound?!
Inane, really. It's the same lame idea Ford had a few decades ago when they insisted on a faux spare tire hump on the Lincoln MKs 7 and 8. And Audi's fake exhaust outlets. And any number of fake air inlets from several manufacturers. Just stupid. Chrysler is planning on doing the same thing with the EV Charger. Fake flourishes are amateur-hour decisions.
They lost me on £38k, for a compromised two seater or 2+2 at a push. And £38k for a 150 mile range car off of 44Kw battery. So less than 3.5 miles/Kw. Many cars are doing 4 miles/Kw or better now. Then that sound, OMG. EV manufacturers just haven't got it right. Either the cars sound like an extra from a low rent sci fi TV mini series or they attempt to badly emulate an ICE. Surely the manufacturers can come up with something far better. Or will Abarth be offering a mod, so you can make your Abarth 500e sound like a F1 V10? hahahaha
Sounds like all bling & no sting at 38k+. Sound generator 😆
I like the sound generator, hahaha but I understand why people hate it…hey fiat put the hayabusa sound on it
Amazing how many who do these videos and they do not know how to pronounce "ABARTH".....It is pronounced Abart ( the H is silent....)
💛💚💛💚💛
Can all EVs come with a sound generator I mean surely this is an easy add on. It would be a great addition to any vehicle
As long as it doesn't cost extra and can be disabled. Silence is the second best feature of EVs.
Fake noise. Says it all to me.
Wag car if i every saw one........pointless
Let's be straight on one thing : if is called Abarth at least 0-60 in 5s 😉 I don't see the point 🥴
A petrol Abarth isn't even that quick!
