FIRST GLANCE - Abarth 500e 'Scorpionissima' - An EV that sounds like an Abarth ! | 4K
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 9 июл 2024
- In this video we take a first look at the first all electric Abarth. The Abarth 500e 'Scorpionissima'. With 155 horsepower the Abarth 500e will do 0-60 in 7 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds slower than the most powerful Abarth 695, however the mis-range acceleration and track performance of the 500e are actually better than the ICE car.
The Abarth 500e has a 42kWh battery giving a range of around 150 miles. It supports 85kw charging giving an 80% charge in just 35 minutes.
The Abarth 500e has 3 drive modes; Turismo, Scorpion Street and Scorpion Track and sounds like a petrol Abarth thanks to the innovative external sound generator.
Thanks to Joe at Full Gas Creative for the fantastic camera work and Simon for the awesome thumbnail !

I would just want to annoy people at the Charging Station with that Sound generator , It's really cool 😂😂
Sound generators good for safety. Love the looks and colour.
Yes they are!
I like it. For me city EV’s make way more sense than huge SUV’s. We had a twin air 500 for a few years and my wife still says it was one of her favourite cars.
This was really well filmed Ped! Top notch vid
Thanks very much 👍
I love the sound generator and think all ev should have it. Even the old George Jetson bubble sound emmitted to let pedestrians know an EV is coming.
Love it, Can't wait to see you drive it and review. Looks proper cool to me and I for one love s noise.
I can’t wait to drive it 👍
Great video! 'Electric' would indeed be awesome as a feature. Surely you will see more powerful LE's come soon with spoilers, livery and all the drama we expect from Abarth. I like it so far!
Great stuff Pete 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
When 50 RUclipsrs do the same video on the same car and go live at the same time - it’s not good ! Spoils your amazing content. ❤
That is a challenge for sure. It was a big thing for me to be invited though and for the brand they get to hit several different audiences at the same time 👍
And it was more like 5 😜😂
@@PetrolPed Totally appreciate that - Don’t do too many ! Your better than that !
I’ve got to agree with a lot of comments, that was an excellent vid Pedro, so fluent and informative. I wonder do you ever have to do many retakes! you come across so natural.
Not retakes on this one. Had to pause a couple of times to check facts but done in 4 pieces to camera each done on first take 😜👍
How refreshing! Honestly I would drive this! 👏👍😀. Looking forward to you driving it now Pete! 👍
You and me both!
Does look amazing especially in that colour.
Yep 👍
Thanks so much indeed for sharing ❤
You are so welcome
Outstanding video Peter. Really loved the 4K, so crisp and clear and detailed, definitely the way ahead if and when you can film with it. The wee Abarth is absolutely stunning, really do love how it looks and the colour. I’m impressed with the interior and like most do struggle with the price, but then lots of electric cars are expensive!
For me, I really love the sound generator, it’s funky and different. I know it’s not for everyone, however it’s a cool, funky and fun wee car so why not have the ability to have fun with the sound. I love gadgets and really do like this one. Can’t wait to see a driving video. Well done Peter 👏🏻☺️👌🏻👍🏻
Thanks buddy. What’s the time ?! 😜👍
@@PetrolPed no problem, the times all good thanks to my Pilote 😁👌🏻👍🏻😆
Love the car, love the colour, hate the price! This is a boys toy for Sunday thrashes. Can’t see that upholstery standing up to heavy use. All the same if I win the lottery I’d probably have one in my imaginary stable of motors. Great review Ped, do you use an autocue, or do you have a photographic memory ? Jonny Smith relies on his notebook 😅
Love it 👍 it’s a yes for me for the noise
👍
Another excellent video Ped.
Used to own a 500 twinair and it was nippy enough, never been in an Abarth though. Guess that would take it to the next level !
Love the style evolution of this latest electric version but 150 mile range might consign it to being a weekend toy.
Smart little car and a great review.I like the noise.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great informative piece, and a good looking motor 👍
Thanks Chap 👍
What a very professional video petrol ped thoroughly enjoyed it very informative. I’m not too sure on the sound generator personally, but it’s good that you can turn on and turn it off and some cause you can’t do that. Thank you so much for the fantastic video
Glad you enjoyed it
Owned a 'New 500' now for over 13 years, just flew through its MOT and used mainly as a city car, only 49,235 miles (!), so was looking at the 500e when funds allowed or on that 'Onto' option. Chuckled at the sound, it is much, much better than both my friends Tesla and next doors hybrid Ford Kugar when they are reversing. Both sound like they've got a handful of ball bearings rattling around in the drivetrain as the pedestrian warning! Nicely shot Vlog too👍🇬🇧...
Thanks 👍
Excellent video as always and the 4K is looking great. That price though 😮
Tell me about it 😬
I really ❤ this so much ❤️
Looks cool!
👍
@petrolped Love it!! Oh, if you could do your video launches at this hour it would be great..... For us on the other side of the globe - hahaha!😁🙏🏾
Noted!
Hello Again. Good to see you 'Pete', yes the '500' looks good in any 'power' pack, however I really hope the corrsion problem that the early models suffered from has been sorted because they cost a lot of money to 'rust' away in just a few years !!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Regards. RichardA.
We shall see
Great video. The Abarth 500e is so cool, and the sound generator is so great.
An Abarth 595e will arrive in the future, with better performance and more horse power.
Let’s hope so 👍
Video looks mega in 4k Ped think it is brilliant and love the video think the car is mega
Thanks 👍
Looks like The Tomorrows World Studio channelling your best William Woolard 😉. Just needed the Farahs 😆😆. Nice video Peter 👍
Thanks Richard 👍
Loved the camera work and quality. Is this your first 4K upload?
Yes it was 👍 Looking to move over to do everything on 4K 👍
Great video. The noise is a good idea as I have nearly been run over by an ev6 and a jag . Pace.
Thanks 👍
It’s beautiful. I really like it and hope they bring it to the USA. I just sold my fiat 500e and already saving to buy that new one if it does come to the USA
Awesome 👍
Cracking looking little car, and I love the sound addition. All EV cars should have this, as long as it doesn’t sound synthetic. But £40k😮😮😮😮
exactly 40k, you could buy a house for that.
Where can you get a house for £40k?
@@chrisclokey4840 in the north of England, you know the part of England the tories don’t give a dam about
The graphics down the side look very modern. 👍🇬🇧
Another quality video Pete and great styling on the car.. but! £38k 😮 …. Give me a Toyota GR Yaris any day
Great car 👍
A very professional review Pete. Who did the camera work for you 💪🏻👏🏻👏🏻
A guy called Joe from Full Gas Creative 👍
Hey! I'm #6! Would be great if we saw these in Canada. Great content as usual!
Well done 👍
The sound generator would be cool if you could programme in you own noises, much like you could get different voices on sat nav’s in years gone by.
You could have a whole heap of fun with that!!
😂😂😂
Agree.... 100%. I would want my A5ooe to sound like the Jetson's car......how cool would that be ??
Ya hear me Abarth !!!!
@@kidoctane 🤣🤣
Ice cream van?
Giant fart gun.
Great content.
Thanks 👍
They'll a bunch in the Channel Islands. Cracking little city car.
Oh yes 👍
I want my electric to sound like the flying cars in the Jetsons cartoon!
😂😂😂
Excellent video Pete.. I drive an Abarth Scorpioneoro and absolutely love it, this new EV version looks great and given time i may even forgive it for the fake sounds? sadly everything about EV`s is being forced upon us so i can understand why manufacturers are all going this way BUT wouldn`t it be good to see a final ICE version of this new 500 using the "old 595`s mechanical s" before its too late?
Love the Scorpioneoro 👌
The 695 Biposto had 18" wheels.
Totally agree PP, I think it looks Super Cool. From the front the car it looks like an emoji face & it's Surprised to see you with those eye brow features, and the indicator winglets remind me of the old Semaphore indicators on 1940's & 50's cars. Just a pity there's not a little more range from the Battery, but if I had to have an EV for city driving then this would be it for me, looking forward to you test driving this PP. 👍😯👍
👍
If I could charge it at home I would have on in a heartbeat.
Brilliant review with subtle grey back drop which sets the car off perfectly and so well presented no wonder you do BT training videos. I never thought FIAT would make ALL other EV cars look so boring (Tesla's already boring enough to look at) . Love the colour but possibly too bright for a driver of my age. Interior looks stunning and at last a manufacturer fitting AC button controls in a cool way under the infotainment screen (listen up manufacturers). Alloy wheels are amazing !
Range might be an issue for some but 80 to 100 miles in winter and 140 miles in summer most probably achievable. What MANY people looking at buying an EV car over look is smaller batteries take less time to charge on 7kw home chargers. Any EV with over 58kwh battery might struggle to charge overnight. If you have a low electricity rate between midnight and 4 am you will only get 28kwh of charge (7kw times 4) so the rest is at a higher rate. If you have a solar array and battery bank then which one do you charge overnight on the cheap rate, the car or the battery ? How many long trips do we really do in the UK, 3 or 4 a year ? Most daily trips / commutes are less than 60 miles.
Ah, have you seen me as installer Mike ?! 😬😂
@@PetrolPed No was on one of your You Tube videos
I think it looks great, great stance, looks, and great sound, but not sure on the line yellow colour though? Great review Pete
Thanks 👍
I love your meticulous presentation of the Abarth than I actually like the car, nice content Pete!
I do drive EV as part of my work fleets but nothing is more satisfying when I cold start my BoxEngine and it splutters into life with a cloud of white smoke 💨 like a crack pipe. The metallic gruff that it emits unit the Rev counter settles just above 1000 rpm is a driving ritual that EV cannot provide to a petrol heads’ weekend drive. 😂
Cool, thanks!
Yeah, the ev probably wouldn’t even start on a cold winter morning 😂😂
Wow! ❤
👍
Interesting car , concerned about how the weight is going to effect the car as they have always been about being lightweight but let’s see once you have driven it. I do like the looks though. Great job with the video presentation and smashed it out the park , the TV experience really paying off
Thanks Bud 👍
Yep... 10/10 for Style.... And probably great fun to drive.... :-)))
Totally!
I like it 😊
Totally agree, give it an electric whirr or just leave it quiet.
👍
Looks smart that Pete, price aside it's a winner.
👍
Well…lots to like indeed but £38/41,000!!! I can understand why anybody would want such a neatly executed pocket run about but the small range might well be a problem in Winter with heated seats etc..hmmmm….I like it….but £38,000 buys a lot of interesting used cars! 🤔😃😃😃Richard.
Great vid as always Pete but for me as an Abarth owner this is a great looking car compared to the current parts bin offerings being sold off but that's where it ends for me as they should have offered a petrol alternative as the sound of an Akra or a Monza is what these cars are all about. At pushing £40K with only 150 mile range sadly not for me so I'll be looking for a late petrol Comp or EsseEsse as my last throw to buy as a keeper. Keep it up with the great content!!
Sadly no new ice cars from 2030 so manufacturers aren’t planning or building them 😢
Hi Ped
Congratulations on a very interesting pro video. Have to agree very cool looking car, but at that price 😥 I know we are getting closer to the ICE ban, but I do think there will be problems ahead on the EV route. I know in our own household Mrs P will not be parted from her 500C, which she adores, only 12000 on the clock and in immaculate condition, and of course no range anxiety!
Yep…that’s a challenge 😬
;>) Peter, where do you put the golf clubs? I don't know about the fake sound... sounds a bit like when you put your running shoes into a clothes dryer. I'd still be looking for a shifter, but looking forward to you taking it for a spin up a hill. Enjoyed your walk-around. Cheers!
They have to go on the back seat 😂
@@PetrolPed With the pups. ;>)
Will it be available in right hand drive? might have to order one.
Yes absolutely 👍
Very interesting and professional report, although the Abarth seems very expensive compared with the 500e, which has a recorded 0-60 time of 8 seconds dead on several UK-based RUclips channels and as low as 6.95 seconds in one case.
I've owned a 500e for over a year and build quality is superb, so I'll guess the Abarth is the same. But I don't know how I feel about that fake exhaust noise as I like the sound of an electric motor!
I would like to see the "eyebrows" on the bonnet to be DRL's. Well done to Stalantis for allowing their designers to put together individual cars...
👍
another really enjoyable vid ped, i really liked some of the styling with this car, the indicators are excellent, love the seats i am a real fan of alcantara/leather. but the elephant in the room is 38.5k for a city car that in real world driving probably won't get near the predicted range. i like the colour and the styling but wouldn't pay that kind of money for a car with such limitations.
It’s a lot of money for sure 😬
Those indicators might get damaged
Morning buddy, defo a Citrus. 👍👍🇬🇧
👍
I love it.
I had 4 500/595 and maybe I'd use the sound generator, sometimes.
We are a single car family and the range makes it unsuitable
Yes the price is high, as with all "leccy" cars, maybe the PCPs will be a better bet
I'm sure they'll be more power and even range in the future
Let’s hope so 👍
Well the exhaust sound generator is definitely interesting to say the least 🤔!!!?
It is!
Well balanced video as usual, you’re still one of the few EV evangelisti that is willing to accept that they are not the be all and end all of future transport and recognises that there are still problems to overcome 👍🏻👍🏻.
But …. why do all journalists/vloggers consign any car less 4m long and sub 200ish hp as a “City car” is this so that any small EV with an unacceptably short range is given an excuse, or has a new class of car arrived that is only any practical use in the city, or are journos so spoilt that they couldn’t possibly consider a 200 mile trip in a small car? Most of us have “A Car” it has to be a jack of all trades, if not a master of any particular discipline. Car manufacturers and journos need a reality check very quickly, I’m pretty sure that £60k and 2.5 tonne monsters, no matter how technically clever, are not the answer to a global energy price crisis, never mind, as you more eloquently said, the answer to CO2 emissions. Anyway, rant over, keep up the good work fella, always worth watching 👍🏼
Thanks 🙏🏻
Didn’t we all have a sound generator while we rode our budgies and choppers back in the day…. Lolly stick in the spokes
Or playing cards 😜😂
Awesome video work here. Really looks pro. Drove a 595 competizione jus over a year back, yep a bit down on power from my Leon Cupra but defo fun. Prob helped been a manual compared to a DSG or Fiats automated manual MTA 🙂
Very cool!
Surely you can put foot on brake and rev the erm speaker?
No. I did try 😜👍
nice review, thanks. seems you missed talking about the rear end, never mind...i definateley against the fakery as opposed to creating a new sound for an electric car,
I've just sold my abarth 500
But I would definitely have one of the electric ones
Shame about the range on it though
But the fake sound is genius and yes it was about the noise they make
But almost £40k for it seems quite steep in price
I'm ok with piped in sound. I'll be better with the idea when you can download your sound of choice like a ring tone on your phone. I could see a lot of e-cars driving around with Jetsons car tone when that happens.
That would be cool 👌
The abarth community will hate this, and i get that totally! but you can`t deny this is mega cool, the only EV i would ever own, would have one tomorrow but a bit overpriced for me, great video.
It will all be about how it drives 👍
...........Fiat 500E vs Abarth 500E...............coming up Peter!!!!!!
Great idea!
Love the exterior design and high end interior. Why can’t a subcompact have a luxury interior (if desired)?
The exhaust sound is definitely needed as it’s an Abarth and they were known for their aftermarket exhaust systems. Can I get a double bubble roof? I’m dating myself.
I have never been a fan of these cars but being an ex Mini owner I can understand the attraction if you are. My neighbour has a Fiat 500 and I kind of like that. I was interested to see an artists impression of the new Fiat Tipo in SUV form which i really like having had a Tipo as a Company car 30 years ago.
👍
It's £40k though isn't it? Not denying it's not fun, I had one as my first car and loved it but that was £13,500 back in 2013!
Wow 😮
Good quality vid Mr Ped, never been a fan of the 500, yes it looks cute, it's very expensive for what it is (a second car for local run abouts) and has a pointless gimmick in the sound generator.
why the "normal" has not disks at the back but the electric has? I expected the opposite since the electric can break more effectively due to the regenative breaking
No, the Fiat 500e has drums (that’s an EV) and the Abarth 500e has discs 👍
A very well done video Sir Pete! It’s really cool to see you get special access to new launch cars like this. This one ain’t for me but it still seems pretty cool. I’d rather have a abarth 124 spider in a hard top personally.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sir Pete...?
Why was the audio recorded in a chuch? #Reverb
Very echoey studio. This is after some work on the audio 😳
Great review and nicely produced 🙂
Looks fantastic inside and out but for the price needs to be pushing out more power (at least 180bhp, and ideally 200bhp), even if that is from a time limited boost button to protect the battery pack - after all a car like this is going to be ragged at every set of lights!
I think the fake engine noise should just one of several choices including a more EV hyperdrive type sound - so you can take you pick or just switch it off, as the mood suits.
Totally agree
Abarth 695 Biposto has got 18” wheels
On.ebay at the moment there is a 2018 fiat 595 comp with 250 bhp and 8 pot tarox front brakes for £12995 .
Love the car it’s fun what a small car should be as for the noise generator every electric car should have it by law so that people can hear them big problem for many people with hearing disability or those that are blind is you can’t hear electric cars etc it will also help in countryside especially narrow lanes to be able to hear an electric car to avoid collisions and for horse riders dog walkers etc to know one is coming
I owned all the versions of the 500, diesel, pertrol 1.2, 1.4, 1.4 Competizione 180hp, Twinar and now a 2022 500electric. The electric version is a dissapointment, very expensive and in the real world driving ( mostly town and suburban area) only manages 20kw/100km ( climate on 22deg winter/summer). Like any other electric car I drove, in order to meet the WLTP figure, you have to drive consistently slow, freeze in the winter and with no A/C in the summer. For a 40 000euro city commuter, no thanks. Not to mention all the erratic electronic glitches ( infotainment, AEB, etc) that appear and dissapear for no reason. I recently began to use a 2016 petrol 500 twinair automatic and rediscovered how trully great, incredibly practical and stress free little car the 500 was. Don t get me started how you "save" on maintenance in a electric car vs a petrol one, they are already hugely overpriced for what they are and they are all heavily susbsidized from tax payers money. " Sustainable" is about wasting less, not buying a new 2 ton car every 3 years, and building house appliances that don t fail suddenly after 2 years of normal use. I will not waste my earned money on this "greener" future. It is all about politics and is not sustainable.
Thanks for this 👍
I'd miss changing gear too much but it does seem cool. Price will, no doubt being an EV, be too much 🙄
Ooh I'm in the top 10
👏👏👏👏
Cool car and despite the price like it. This would look at home for yourself or Mrs P perhaps?
👍
So it's a more expensive i3?
Should have come up with a redesign for the reengineered car. It's tired now.
Controversially I disagree, the eyebrows make the headlights look comically round. The colour and everything about its design makes it looks like a Disney cartoon, the sound confirms it.
👍
150 mile range is poor, considering this will be practically unacheivable.....and if you take into account that FIAT themselves have said that if you use the heater on the standard 500e, the range will be reduced by around 40%. So that leaves well under 100 miles of range. So we have what is, in practice, a 2+2 that will cost nigh on £40k that makes a ridiculous noise and can't really take you anywhere but on the weekly shop......which probably won't fit in it anyway. A city car maybe, but not many living in cities have home charging facilities.
This whole performance vs range/whether to put a bigger battery in or not argument is a bit silly, if you ask me. You didn’t get that with cars that had internal combustion engines; a Focus ST doesn’t have a bigger fuel tank than a normal Focus with a 1.0 EcoBoost engine, so of course you’re going to get less range as the ST is a much more powerful car. Granted you have more options as to where to fill your car up and filling an ICE car up is obviously a lot quicker, but if you’re one of these people who charges your car at home and/or doesn’t do long journeys all that often, having to charge it up more often will be no more difficult than having to refuel an ICE car more often.
It’s really not. Battery size has a huge impact on range and weight. More so than fuel tank 👍
@@PetrolPed Yeah, I get putting a bigger battery in the car will cause weight problems, and I get that keeping the battery the same size and having a more powerful motor is going to reduce the range if both motors have the same battery, but that would be the same as having the same size fuel tank on two engines when one of them is more powerful.
Granted if you do on a road trip that takes you further than the range of the car, you’re going to have to plug it into public chargers, but if you’re stopping for as long as you probably should, to give yourself a good rest, it should charge sufficiently to get you to your destination or your next stop.
I absolutely love it fiat have nailed it but the price Pete ouch!
Yeah it was shocked too 😬
Love the sound. screams Abarth. also, electric cars can be so quiet, so boring, and dangerous to others who dont hear them coming. im all for it for all those reasons, but also because its fun
Exactly 👍
@blaznfattyz - I wish I could agree completely, but my career in DMV during which I worked extensively with an Independent Living Center contradicts this. Indeed, some pedestrians will hear and heed, but others who simply can't hear or are using their own sound generators will not be aware, and a degree of danger comes from the drivers of any vehicle that assumes they can be heard.
That said, if we have to put up with any extra noise generation from any vehicle, I admit this Abarth would be one of my top choices.
I do think electric cars should have some sort of external noise from a pedestrian safety point of view but also thinking that much noise might be just a little too much. Great looking little car though 👍🏻
Electric cars are actually forced by law to have a sound generator when driving at low speeds. Most of the manufacturers just use some sort of electric buzzing.
Yes I agree
@@isthernes I know but some still are very quiet and I’m sure there’s already been incidents with elderly people who are hard of hearing. I can hear fine and I’ve been startled a few times by electric cars sneaking up on me lol
It's so wrong it's brilliant 😂
Tempted but the range probably isn't quite there, think I'll hold out for the R5 Gordini
Great looking car but that price, OMG. Plus it needs at least another 30bhp minimum.
Great video, but 150bhp is not much to talk about unfortunately. Nice little car though!
