Trick for warming your cold stick of butter to room temp fast: You get a tall glass tumbler and put hot water in it. (to warm the glass) Then you dump out the water and tip the glass upside down over a stick of butter. Only takes a few minutes!
Anyone else ever feel like Megan gets in trouble more often than the kids do? 😂 Megan, you are a hoot, and this video is fun. Thank you! 💕❤️
I just wanted you to know that your family is my favorite on the internet. If i'm in a funk or we have something going on thats super stressful or hard, my husband knows if he finds a new video out from y'all he will turn it on knowing it will immediately make me feel 1000% better. Your love and joy is contagious. Even my 4yo love watching with me.
I am so enjoying watching this video you are so giggling and bubbly today it's refreshing there's so much negativity out there but tuning into this amazing family is a joy grad you're all feeling better
I'm here for the Mike and Megan comedy hour! Love seeing how playful you both are❤❤❤
Your family banter is classic. I love how you say tree-a-cle. Its just tree- kle.
Years ago I worked in a doctor's clinic. At Christmas, we would get so many lovely treats from patients that our conference table would be completely covered in sweets. After a while, we'd stare at that table of deliciousness and wish there was a vegetable platter on it. I can hardly believe it myself but it was true. We'd have been stoked to get a plate of celery.
Mini lemon bars, anything with lemon, chocolate chip with dried cranberries, mini pecan bars, anything with pecan, fruit pebble rice krispie treats, 'stained glass window' shortbread cutouts with different flavor jelly inside, decorated sugar cookies made by everyone - super fun group activity, great gifts, banana bread with dried cranberries and pistachios.
I’m voting bread as gifts for your neighbors! Nothing better than homemade, fresh bread!
unless the recipient is gluten free then NOT a good gift at all, but neither would sweet cookies
@@juliecalene8281my Daughter is Celiac and Trader Joe’s has an awesome chocolate chip cookie dough in the fridge section. It barely tastes gluten free and the texture is great. It’s hard to find a good sweet and bread recipes that are gf
Coming from South Africa I make scones with the Lemon curd and a small container Strawberry Jam. Also the whipped cream. It’s very welcomed.
I keep my butter in the fridge, but, I have a butter dish where I keep it on the countertop, until it is used up, sometimes for a few days. I never had any problems at all. It has NEVER gone bad.
Fun video! My mother always made snickerdoodles a week or two before Christmas, froze them and then at Christmas she would thaw them in a container with a piece of bread, this made them so moist. It was a favorite memory at Christmas and I still do that 65 years later. You should do cookies for gifts, for sure. .
I love the Mike and Megan show! You two are so playful together and I think it’s so important in a relationship. It’s also important to see that interaction, so many of us have grown up in family’s that never expressed that.
Besides, you are pretty stinking funny too!
Bread all day! There are so many sweets around, I would love a homemade loaf of bread.
Your cats are beautiful.
Thank you for a light hearted video today
Donna
Because we are often overloaded with sweets, I think bread or a savory dip and chip would be wonderful. I have a friend that makes salsa in the summer from her garden and we look forward to that at Christmas. But I guess it's really the thought that counts right? Merry Christmas!!!
If I were your neighbor, I would gladly accept the bread gift or something else savory like homemade crackers. Or maybe a little cheese platter. There are so many sweets around the holidays. I wish there were more savory treats.
Megan, mad as a box of frogs today. Love it! Oh and in England we pronounce treacle , treecle . No need to sound out the a😄
I really love seeing people act like themselves on RUclips rather than the ‘polished’ version. I really loved seeing your ND side on display here Megan 💕
a
A sugar cookie with frosting never gets old, but really great ideas from everyone. You could just do something else to hear everyone tell you how awesome your bread is. he he he
Russian tea cakes are my go to. I don’t care if they’re boring! They are perfect!
I’m making those for a cookie exchange. I call them snowballs. But I’ve seen them listed as Russian tea cakes and Mexican wedding cookies. They’re so good.
They're not boring, they're delicious!
@@tamaraliscia3408 I agree!
Definitely bread!! Too many sweets this time of year.
Oh my goodness, the happy, silly vibe of this video was so refreshing during this stressful season! (Maybe it's the nutmeg!)
Hi, Megan. The attachment you're using on your mixer is for egg whites or butter and sugar. You need the paddle attachment for cookies. Love your videos. Merry Christmas, Knorpp family!
Nutmeg is awesome! Buy whole nutmeg and grate it yourself with a microplane! It tastes so much better than the ground stuff in
from a jar!!!
Agree
Grating my own definitely made me a convert in my hate/love relationship with nutmeg. My favorite spice today is Nutty Meg(an)😂
My microwave has a soften butter button and I literally just discovered it maybe a week ago!!!!! It’s the best thing!! Thanks for sharing all the different cookies!!
Megan's cracking me up. 😂
If I was your neighbor, I’d want bread, but wouldn’t complain about getting something sweet. Lol! A gift given with love is amazing no matter what it is! ❤
Walnut snowballs
Mix in order:
1 stick softened butter
2 cups flour
1/4 cup pwdr. sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 cup chopped walnuts
Roll in walnut sized balls, bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. While hot, gently roll cookies in powdered sugar, let cool completely, then if there are any left, store in airtight container so they don't get stale. Enjoy.
We make those but we know them as Russian tea cakes or Mexican wedding cookies. So cool you make them
I made Amish Cinnamon Bread for the neighbours, and it's been a hit. It's so easy to make, and delicious with a cup of tea/coffee/hot chocolate. I have 2 more baking while I take a break and watch this. I cut back on interior decorating this year, as I'm liking things to be more simple with statement pieces rather than bits and pieces all over.
Absolutely LOVED the snarky sarcastic tone to your cooking channel. I’m a forever fan. SO FRIKKIN FUNNY 😂😂😂
You two are a kick and I love your editing. Yes, bread!!! 💗🥖💗
Molasses Spice cookies (Martha's recipe) are our go-to cookie during this time of year. I thought your bread giving was exceptional when you showed it last time. You can get a cookie anywhere but fresh homemade bread is a real treat.
I normally give homemade bread for friend and neighbor gifts but this year I’m doing cinnamon raisin bread to switch it up 😍
Please share your recipe😊
Oh, bless y’all all getting sick. Glad you are feeling better! Love the ginger bread cookies dipped in chocolate. Yummy! I posted a comment earlier about Dickens Downtown in Alabama. The city is Northport, Alabama about 10 miles from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The free event took place on Main Avenue as the downtown area was transformed into a 19th century winter wonderland inspired by Charles Dickens, “ A Christmas Carol “. Participants dressed in Victorian-era style costumes as they enjoyed Carole’s, live music, artificial snow and more. Also touring the Shirley house! Maybe one day y’all can come and enjoy!
This video was so chaotic! I loved it so much. Calcifer trying to get the chicken was so cute. Reminded me of my cats (they prefer it cooked though). Such a lovely thing to make cookies and go delivering them to people! I think I would prefer bread to cookies for a Christmas treat - that way I would have some beautiful homemade bread to put my ham on to make a yummy leftover sandwich :) (but cookies would be nice too, I guess haha - I just am a savoury person)
I got my kitchen aid at a yard sale for $30 bucks!! It didn’t have the attachments but I payed like 20 bucks for them from Amazon so $50 bucks for my dream appliance was the best!! She’ll be in my life forever I love her!!
We had a neighbor in our old neighborhood who made us bread every Christmas! We absolutely loved it! ❤
My Dad was one of 9 kids and his mom (my grandmother) alway made a cut out cookie recipe that makes a couple hundred cookies every Christmas season. My sisters and I have continued the tradition with our own families.
I I would love it if someone gave me a loaf of homemade bread. Everyone gets so many sweets during the holidays, so my vote is for the bread! My family all love Peanu butter balls. They are so good!
When I worked as a dietary aid in a small town hospital we use to make those rice crispy pinwheels. People would actually order them from the hospital they were so good. Everything in that hospital was made by scratch back then.
This family recipe is the real deal from Scotland. It doesn’t look very interesting, but I’ve never tried a better shortbread.
Sangsters’ Scottish Shortbread
1/2 lb butter
1/2 c sugar
2 1/2 c flour
Melt butter. Add sugar. Mix with wooden spoon. Add flour one cup at a time. Spread into two 8" round pans. Prick all over (like every half an inch) with a fork. Bake at 275 for an hour. Should be light in color. When done, sprinkle with fine sugar. Cut before it gets cool.
Bread.. Love the craziness and laughter.
Definitely
Bread, because they're counting on the bread!
wish all of you happy and a merry Christmas enjoy the day's with every one of the family
I have that exact kitchenaide mixer. My late husband got it for me for Christmas back in the 80's and it's still works great!
A dear former neighbor of my mother in law always shared a plate of goodies the week after Thanksgiving. One or our favorite treats was a loaf of Friendship Bread. It was from a starter that lasted many years and celebrated many Christmas seasons. Essentially, it was a dark, spicy loaf that was wonderful with breakfast coffee, or a cup of tea in the afternoon to go along with a nice chat with that neighbor.
That bread sounds so nice wish l was your neighbour
“Mike and Megan’s Kitchen Special” is the best thing and needs to be a weekly series!
My most favorite and best seller that I made when I ran a bakery was my Amish cherry almond cookies. So cute for Christmas and deliciously addictive
My vote is bread like many have voted for too.
However, an easy go-to cookie that is always a first to go in my family growing up was the "cookies" my grandma would always bring to the gathering. They are those pb butterscotch clusters.
5.5 cups cornflakes, 1 cup pb, 1 package butterscotch chips .... put cornflakes in huge bowl then in a pot melt the pb and chips together then pour on top then use cookie scoop and put scoops onto parchment and let set in fridge. easy peasy. I have lightly sprinkled with christmas colored sprinkles before.
Our microwave does have a soften butter and I love it.
FYI- microwaves do have a soften setting for butter, ice cream, frosting and also a melt option for chocolate chips, marshmallow, Carmel, cream cheese. It’s so nice
FYI... I use a kitchen scale occasionally. My Italian
grandmother's recipe, for biscotti, is almost 200 years old. You HAVE to weigh every ingredient. Even the eggs. The nice thing is, the dough is always consistent. Cookies turn out perfect, every time!
Homemade ginger snaps with cinnamon, nutmeg, additional molasses and chocolate chips are so, so good!
I’ve had my white kitchen aid since the early 80’s.
I think homemade bread would be a great neighbor gift this time of year.
Years ago, all ofthe kids were sick when it came time to deliver Neighbor treats. So I bought a bunch of different Little Debbie Christmas treats & bagged up a variety for our friends with some cute little poem about not sharing our germs. SO EASY!!
BUT... For Years, our go to Neighbor Christmas treat is Homemade White Chocolate Popcorn, drizzled with Special Dark Chocolate. We've been told by MANY Neighbors & Friends, to NEVER change what we give, & that it NEVER lasts long. I have been dubbed "The Popcorn Queen."😊
I would recommend making a stollen for your neighbors. It's a traditional German christmas bread, but other European countries also have their own spin on it. I love the almond paste found inside the Dutch stollen. It's great with a cup of coffee or as something special for breakfast.
I think your bread is a bigger treat because there are so many sweet things around at Christmas. If I was one of your neighbours I think I`d be eagerly anticipating a fresh loaf. Love from the west coast of Canada❤
BREAD!! So many give sweets that a great treat is actually a savory tasting gift.
You guys have to much energy, I remember when I would make DOZENS of cookies to give as gifts. Now at 75, I gift boxes of hot cocoa , marshmallows and new mugs.
Megan, the pinwheel cookies with the PB Rice Krispies are called “Pinwheel Scotcharoos” here in the mid-west, and we love them!! You can google a recipe! Our family favorite cookies are Reese’s PB cup cookies (made in a mini muffin pan), Oreo balls, and Rolo pretzels :) We also do cut out sugar cookies to decorate together as a family on Christmas Eve Eve (the 23rd). Merry Christmas to your family!
This is my favorite video from you folks! You just had so much fun with it. Fun is good. ❤🍞🍪
Cookies for gifts! Homemade bread is really more enjoyable in the Fall as gifts! Your baking always looks so yummy no matter what you whip up in the kitchen! 😊
I would stick with the bread. It’s unique and some people don’t want sweets. My go to cookie family recipe is the danty. It’s basically a shortbread cookie flavored with almond extract, rolled into a long log, rolled into colored sugar, and then cut about a 1/4 of an inch. The diameter is around the size of. a quarter. You can bake a lot (8 to 10 minutes) because they don’t get much bigger.
Easy cookie ... Chocolate chip cookie dough add Christmas colored m&Ms instead of chocolate chips . So good 😊
Megan, you need to watch James Townsend and son if you love nutmeg. The 1700's cookbooks used nutmeg in nearly everything, and their channel is so delightful with reenacting.
Always enjoy knorrp and south videos ❤❤❤
I use my mom's old Kitchenaid that she recd from her wedding as a gift - 1966! Still runs like a gem and I sue often!
Whipped shortbread cookies are a must at Christmas in my family.
I agree, dark brown sugar makes everything better-especially zucchini bread!
My family LOVES you guys, my husband and i both come from families of 13-14 kids. your all are a joy to watch and see your family enjoy each others company. My kids are more pie people, i do a apple blackberry ginger pie with gluten free crust and we make homemade banana bread french toast soldiers with a maple caramel glaze
I love the cookies called Blossoms. Roll a ball of peanut butter dough then cook. Immediately after taking out of oven push a Hershey drop candy into the top. Yum
Merry Christmas to your beautiful family.
Ok I have easy suggestions for treats for the neighbors that we did this year: buckeyes, peppermint bark, and puppy chow also called muddy buddies. The neighbors loved getting them and they took maybe two hours to make. We did a massive batch of each to feed our kids and coworkers too along with 9 neighbor households.
Someone made the most beautiful "post card" cookies for a cookie exchange I attended. They were the best ginger cookies I have ever had.
I love it when you guys let the funny free
Double fun for me today! Two of my favorites posted new videos! …
Knorp & South and Sheepishly Me
Ginger cookies are not on my yummy list but watching your interactions while you bake is great!
Me too!
So, my grandmother spilled coffee grounds on top of lemon meringue pie then tried to get them off with a vacuum. It didn't end well for the meringue.
Bread!! I'd be the neighbor pouting saying.... Oh. Cookies. Thanks. Lol
Wow , ginger snap coated in chocolate looks awesome !!! ❤❤
Love the silliness of this video. ❤
I think I would love home made bread because of all the sweetness that people get at Christmas. 🎄💜
I also never remember to take butter out, the trick is you grate the butter, works a treat.
Russian tea cakes. Or some call them pecan snowballs, Mexican wedding cookies.."all the same thing. Recipe 2 sticks soften butter, 1/2 c sifted powder sugar 2 1/4 c plain flour, 1/8 tsp salt,1 tsp vanilla, 1/4 chopped nuts….roll into balls bake 7 to 10 min in the middle of the oven at 400 degrees…while still warm roll in powder sugar then cool and roll again. Super easy
I love watching your cooking and baking videos, as they inspire me to bake more. My all time favorite cookie is my great grandmother's sugar cookie recipe, handed down through the generations.
Another “softened” butter recipe…and perfect for a holiday cookie platter: Pistachio Cookies (or as my kids, grandkids and great grands always call them: Green Cookies). These are the most requested cookies by my family all year long - you’ll love them!
1 cup softened butter and 1/3 cup powdered sugar - cream together till smooth. Add 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla extract and 3/4 tsp almond extract- mix well. In a separate bowl, combine 2 cups flour and 1 pkg (3.4 oz) instant pistachio pudding with 1/2 cup miniature chocolate chips. Stir into butter mixture. I use my smallest cookie scoop (about 1 Tbsp) to portion the cookies onto an un-greased pan and then slightly flatten the tops. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Bottoms should be very lightly browned - don’t overbake! After cookies have cooled, drizzle melted chocolate across the tops and allow to set up till hardened.
I’d also like to thank those commenters who mentioned a butter softening button on their microwaves - who knew?!? I have one too - and it works! Happy Holidays everyone!!
Bread. Everyone give cookies or bars. Fresh homemade bread is a way better gift.
My neighbors enjoyed sweet breads. Pumpkin, zucchini, egg nog , and banana bread
I soften my butter by using the defrost button 10 sec intervals. Defrost works well for me.
My favorite cookies are chocolate crinkles from the Betty Crocker cookie book. Chocolate cookies rolled in powdered sugar! So yummy. They are best fresh and warm, but the dough needs to be chilled, so we just bake one sheet at a time as needed and the dough can last a week in the fridge.
I literally paused and rewound parts of this video multiple times, it was so funny! ❤
I love strawberry shortbread at Christmas and make blueberry and coconut loaf. I always laugh when Mike worries about the fridge being untidy! 😂 Good fun video! PS I love your cats!
I used to be a nut about mine.
Now it looks like an 💥 went off in there!
Cookies, I had a neighbor named Summer and she made me cookies one year for Christmas, I and my family loved them. She moved a few years ago. She always made me cookies. I miss it now. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas.
I love your pronunciation of tree-acle. We say treecle here in the UK. Tastes good either way! Yum at your baking.❤
This was so chaotic and I LOVED it!!! 😂🧡
Megan's humor is the best part of this video 😂
My mother made fresh crusty bread for our Christmas Dinner… she buttered it and placed it in a bread/bun warmer on the stove top. It was delicious‼️Yum. It made it more palatable choking down the Christmas Goose my father insisted on hunting and dragging to our table. If we got a piece of “shot” in your meat, he’d gave us 10 cents out of sheer guilt🤣
I love the idea of a "room temperature" setting on the microwave. Brilliant! 🎉❤😊
We always make molasses cookies (like gingersnaps but soft), our Christmas sugar cookies (with nutmeg as the secret ingredient), peanut butter cookies with mini snickers inside, and chocolate covered pretzels. Every year I make potica (puh-teet-suh), a Slavic nutbread, for our close friends and the staff at church. My grandma and great grandma (1st Gen American from Poland) used to make it. One of our friends is a chiropractor who is VERY careful about what he eats, but every year he tries to eat the whole thing himself...lol
Hi guys! Sorry for the ick you have been through. Glad to see you are on the mend! 🥰 great video, thanks! ❤
Happy blessed holiday❤
Favorite cookies: buckeyes, peanut butter blossoms, caramel cups, clothespins, Italian wedding cookies (sometimes called Mexican wedding cookies or snowballs), pizzelles, and spritz cookies… can’t go wrong with any of those! But I agree also with everyone who said the bread gift and maybe you could gift it with some nice cheese or fig jam :)
