As a former addict who climbed out of addiction I just wanna applaud her !!! I now work for the postal service and making 75k a year and just bought my own home. The years before I was homeless with no hope. See what you can do !!!!!! I absolutely love this !!!
This is my favorite episode yet. I love that she hires formerly incarcerated and homeless people. Janie is such an inspiration. I’m literally ordering her cookies now!!!!
Way to go girl, I've been sober for 11 years and went from living with grandma and being in rehab for Christmas to practicing medicine! It works if you work it!
I love that Janie talks about her "life changing cookies" - I realize after watching this video what she truly means by putting that above the front door to each of her shops. She's mission-based, which makes all the difference. Congratulations, Janie!
This Young Lady will go far in life!!! What a sweetheart to give others such an opportunity/ job when they’re in such need of a purpose. Cheers to her!!
Her story just hit my heart in all of the right places ❤ Thank you for sharing Janie. I find so much love in baking also and first found it when I was literally battling myself (feeling like an imposter for success I’d experienced, fear, anxiety, hopelessness!) in late 2021 & 2022. Baking helped me to breatheeee clean and clear again thank God. I’m saving this to watch over and over again. Selah. You were not alone. I hope all of your purest, wildest dreams come true! ❤🚀
What an inspiring story! (I'm an HR person and like to bake, so I seriously admire her.) This shows that there really is redemption, for Janie, and for her employees, and for all of us.
I don’t know you but I loved hearing your story and I am so glad for you. Addictions are a huge rock on anyone’s path. I admire you for being honest to yourself and recognize you needed to change. You are an amazing example. God bless you and your business.
This was very inspiring to hear. I love that this company don’t judge people on their past but places a focus on their common interest in baking while looking to build a productive future 🎉 I’m definitely going to order some cookies 🍪 Janie thank you for being bold to share your story with the world . I know that when people hear this , they too will put their hands to doing good work to help contribute to their private heart space , their private homes , then publicly help their communities and the nations at large 🎉
Janie is a real life Angel. I love her honesty and her genuineness to work hard, evolve and blossomed into someone amazing. She’s a true fighter. Not everyday Simone like her pops up on our screen sharing such an challenging past traumatic experience that is so ubiquitous to many others we have known. What a light she is ❤
Janie-i tried your cookies just a few weeks ago at the opening weekend of the Queens night market and i must say they were fabulous. the flavors are outstanding and your folks running the booth were very personable. i travel both domestically and internationally a good bit and bakery visits are a passion. Pie Crust cookies are world class. congrats and i look forward to ordering some online soon.
This is really inspiring! I'm entering the job market and this is an important reminder to make sure it's my passion. People have encouraged me to sell my baked items too, maybe I should look into that on the side
Omg this story is amazing! Need to see more stories like this! I wish I could give this girl a hug she’s gone far in life and truly Overcome a lot of struggles. You go girl xoxoxo
Janie, congrats on your success, you SOOOO earned it. Just friggin awesome!!!! Just may have to mail order some of your cookies. Take care and be well.
I just listened to her story on a podcast called dopey I am so proud of you I know I don't know you but I've been in I'm struggling addiction I think you're an incredible woman how big is awesome what you do with your life
I love that positive spin on imposter syndrome, how you are not undeserving but rather your experiences are exciting and special and should be cherished
Thee cookies sound delicious!! Congrats on the business and for having hiring give others a second chance as well! I absolutely love that and your story inspires me!
What a awesome story ! Congratulations on your sobriety that led you to this moment. Keep the faith and your story 🙏 can be a inspiration to others, best wishes to you !!!!
Congratulations! You deserve your success. Thank you for hiring people who have or are trying to overcome the adversity in their lives! They are definitely the ones you hire. They know where they’ve been and they know they don’t want to go back there. God bless you and your business. If you ever have any left it would be a blessing to drop them off at a shelter or soup kitchen. Better yet would be to donate some before you start selling.
I just found out about you 20mins ago. Watched this video & a GMA video on your pie crust cookies. You said “Apple” was your favorite in one video ~ so that’s the one I just ordered 5mins ago. I reside in Chicago. I can’t wait! I’ll go back & try the pecan - u mentioned you liked that one in the GMA video.
Congratulations on your success, but more so on making changes and being able to ask for help dealing with your alcoholism. For whatever reasons, and I can imagine there might have been many, my brother couldn't get himself to ask for real help, though family and I were there to support him and he died most likely due to the effects of alcoholism on his body. I wish you continued success and to those in similar situations, that you are will to hire. Peace.
3:42 Interesting - I thought her addiction problem was due to like childhood issues or trauma stemming from her family but maybe not... So great for her, how she chose to persevere.
Parents can be good parents in some respects and awful enough in other areas to cause severe trauma. Like for example my parents were great at getting me reading, sharing culture, books, films with me, but emotionally abusive and downright neglectful in other crucial areas. Parents have up and down periods, too, they can be good for a few years then something happens and they take it out on you. Even the nastiest most abusive person has redeeming qualities - the ex who broke my nose also taught me to drive.
Very inspiring. Congrats to you. Wish you even more success. Never heard of a "pie crust cookie" until now. I love pecan pie. I love cookies. So I'm pretty darn sure I'll love those pecan pie crust cookies. Is there delivery?
Super inspiring story about redemption! But I was a little taken aback that she wears a hair net during packaging, but not during baking. I'd be willing to try the pie crust cookie for the experience.
All these stories of making a lot of money with doing what you like is wonderful, however- In the United States they pay so much on rents and property taxes! I have a friend in San Diego who has a small business there and she pays a ridiculous amount on both!
@@AllAboutPurple But it's the whole country, correct? I live in Baja California, Mexico but my American friend lives in San Diego. We both have small businesses but she pays so much! And obviously makes so much more than me here but she pays so much!
Yes, that's Anna s Wilson, she is the real deal. I have already given up on trading when I decided to try her, turned out to be the best decision I made.
Having monitored my portfolio performance, Anna wilson has made me a jaw dropping $370k from just the past two quarters alone. I have learned why these experienced traders make enormous returns from the seemingly unknown market

Congratulations!!! That's awesome. I've heard they have great benefits.
Was it hard getting a job there
Keep it on you did well to leave the drug alone 👏🏼
Congratulations hope you’re doing well
EVERY FAMILY HAS SOMEONE WHO BREAKS THE CHAIN OF POVERTY IN THAT FAMILY,I PRAY YOU BE THE ONE
She grew up on the Upper West side of NYC …. I don’t think she grew up poor 🤔
Not true, my family has been poor since the 1800s and we’re still poor.
@@Anonymous.24. and you grew up in one of the most expensive areas in United States too 😑?

You are to be commended for the fact that you didn't let addiction control your whole life. Congratulations and continue the good work.
just stay out of it and never have a issue

I bet they have way better work ethics then a say 16 or 18 year old. They wont be constantly on their phones.
