I was making cookies in our community room this weekend and someone came in and tasted the batter, then dipped the same finger she just licked back into the bowl to get another taste. I couldn't even try one after that. gross..
I thought the same thing when she apologized for tasting the cookie batter. I was like what, doesn't everybody do that? 😂 One of my fondest memories of my mom baking was the anticipation of waiting for her to hand me a beater to lick. Did that with my kids too and now my grandkids ❤

Debbie Lavigne here ❤. I will be 70 in March. I too have changed up my kitchen shenanigans. I have always thought about canning but working 2 jobs and balancing my life with my husband and 3 very active kids left no time. My late husband and I pretty much cooked the tried and true recipes. This year, I planted some herbs and vegetables I've never grown before. I also learned to waterbath can and pressure can. It definitely makes you feel young again.

just a quick note about cracking eggs directly into your batter. I once had ordered a banana bread sandwich (2 slices of banana bread with a cream cheese frosting in the middle...delicious!) BUT!!! I it was ruined when I bit into a spot where the shell was in the banana bread portion...absolutely ruined it for me. My mother always taught me to pre measure my ingredients. If you pre measure your ingredients instead of doing them on the fly, you have time to double check yourself and you don’t ruin a whole batch by adding too much or omitting something critical. You also know if you have all the ingredients you will need and you don’t forget to add something. It takes pre-planning but has saved me on many occasions! If a person doesn’t have time to do it right the first time, when will you have time to do it over?
I took an online class recently with a French pastry chef….she insists we must weigh our ingredients and hers were metric, naturally. I ordered a scale in case I want to bake appropriately in the future because trying to convert a recipe from metric is math and, EW!
I agree that it is very useful to measure out all your ingredients before you start. What I like to do is make a bunch of different dough recipes in one day, refrigerate them, then bake on another day. I so admire Becky’s tremendous ambition but sometimes trying to do too much at once can lead to mistakes.
Just a friendly suggestion. Take heed and pre measure your ingredients when baking. I have made this same mistake more times than I can count. One tip I learned is to use a sticky note to hide the next step or ingredient and move it down as you work through the recipe. This will keep your eyes focused on one line. So glad you didn’t beat yourself up about it. Live and learn. That’s all we can do.
A word to the wise: Move the scale out from under your bowl when you are finished weighing. You will ruin its calibration if you continually add pressure to the bowl (i.e., using it as a platform for beating or stirring ingredients, etc) BTW, Google for charts to convert cups to grams... very handy tool!
@renaerolley5670 Gentle comment: I've found that different flour types have different weights. I reference the King Arthur Flour "Ingredient Weight Chart" as my guide, which indicates that an unsieved cup of AP flour is 120 grams.

Oh and also love that you are always doing new recipes to try out!!! Dry cookies are great with ice cream😉 great idea for those cookies to be used as a tea biscuit - or maybe use them for some kind of truffle, or cookie crumble pie - ohhh now that sounds like a good come back ❤❤❤ if I do say so myself😂 Love your enthusiasm and sharing with all of us.
Since you use a metal mixing bowl with your KitchenAid, just take your little torch and lightly run it along the sides of the bowl till the butter melts. I’ve done it often in a pinch! Also, a quick and easy no-bake cookie is melting Andes mints and dipping Ritz crackers. They taste very similar to the Girl Scout mints. Just add festive sprinkles 😊 And…Andes makes a chip just like the chocolate and butterscotch. They’re so easy to use😊 I can also relate to the slight dyslexia. I had to quadruple one cookie when I caught an error in time, but my future self will love having extra cookie dough in the freezer 😊
Beautiful cookies! When I was about 12 I started making Christmas cut out sugar cookies I am 57 I have those special cutters still❤just took me back your videos are heart felt😊

It is nice to see we all make mistakes. I almost put baking soda in my cookies and it called for baking powder. I want to thank your Mom for the idea of taping the recipes on the cabinets. It made a big difference in cookie making.
I am so glad you shared your diagnosis. You were so familiar and I wondered always find that you are amazingly successful. I’ve always taught my kids to look at it as a positive how to master it as a gift and you definitely have mastered it as a gift. Thank you so much for sharing and keeping it real.
Hi Becky, my name is Anna and I live in Germany. I love watching you and your family. I already tried some recipes and love them all!!! Keep doing what you're doing and stay as you are because you're just awesome!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
What helps me, Becky, Is pre measuring everything before you start your video. that way you can take your time, to make sure all the ingredients are correct. Hope this helps
Hey Becky! I have a strong case of dyslexia myself. One of the biggest things that helped me was reading strips/guides. They now have them in lots of colors for kids but I started with just a black piece of cardboard with a line cut out of it. It really made a difference. Forced myself to read for at least half an hour a day and now I can read without a problem. I do still use them for reading recipes and things that I have to go back and forth on. Hope you try it and hope it will work for you!
@@evamcneill1830 Another thing that helped a lot was training each eye separately. They gave me glasses with one eye covered and then later switched the eyes. There are lots of different types of dyslexia, so check with your doctors what will do the most for your daughter.
Agree with contessa about coffee in chocolate baked goods, I’ve always added coffee to the mix, even in boxed mixes! It really gives the chocolate a deeper flavor.
I love even when you make a mistake you show that too, it lets us feel like we can have mistakes in the kitchen and still be a success as well… Thanks for being real, thanks for being you. Hope your Holiday season is not all work and filled with fun for you too Merry Christmas 🎄to you and your sweet little family. May you feel God’s Blessings on you and your Family, not only during the Holiday season, but all throughout the year. 🙏
I mix coarse sugar and nonpareil sprinkles in the same bowl before rolling cookies. It looks pretty and stretches out the more expensive sprinkles. You can also buy chopped Andes mints during the holidays. They’re usually in the baking aisle next to chocolate chips.
I just made those sugar cookies last week! I used half white sugar, half brown sugar and rolled the balls in colored sugar...we have a new holiday cookie for our rotation! Everyone loved them.
I like your honesty. You're doing alot of recipes in one work day! We all have misread a recipe so don't worry about your little cocoa goof. A good reminder to all! Love your videos.
Hi Becky, whenever I make a new recipe that I have never made before, I pre measure my ingredients into separate dishes and add them as I need them. It keeps me from becoming confused which can happen quite easily, especially for me. Thanks. I love watching what you do, it's always interesting, informative and fun to watch. Great job !! ❤
Always crack your eggs into a separate dish then add to mixer(could have shell in or yolk could be bloody, then you haven't wasted the other ingredients).
Totally! I cried when that happened during one of her Christmas cookie extravaganzas (2022 or 2021 - I can't remember). She had to throw out the whole double batch of cookie dough because of a bad egg.
Yes I just watched a show on that. They are perfectly safe to eat. The commercial egg ers use X-Ray equipment to screen for those eggs bc, of course, no one wants to use them. Butttt, thousands of eggs are wasted from this process. .
Hi Becky! So I own a Great American Cookies down here in Dallas Texas And to save on sprinkles, all you really need to do is roll just half the cookie and leave the bottom without they will still look beautiful and also once you scooped the cookie dough out, you really do not have to roll them like you do your meatballs skipping them out it’s just fine🥰
I used to teach cooking and the first thing I would get the students to learn was to get everything together before we start, utensils, bowls etc. and ingredients . It used to save a lot of problems later. You are a good example to today's audience.
Becky on the sprinkle cookies press them out after rolling into a ball and then pat one side in the sprinkles and place on cookie sheet sprinkle side up. No need to sprinkle the bottoms of the cookies.

Becky, dont fret about the cookie fails, this is how we learn. I just made my homemade chocolate covered cherries and the expensive chocolate seized on me and ruined the batch. Oh well, i will learn from this mistake. I enjoy your cooking and I know Josh's coworkers appreciated your efforts! This is going to be good training for when Baby Acre is ready to bake and decorate cookies with his mom.
I like your show much, you are real, I like the variety, your show is amazing, you don't need to be on TV. I like your personal touch, ALOHA, from a great grandmother on the BIG ISLAND HAWAII
Your cookie-palooza is incredible. I love what you assemble for your Xmas recipe line up. By the way, melted butter that is not hot means to melt it completely, and then let it cool for 10 minutes, and not par-melted to be warm.
Be careful! We have lots of sprinkles without articial colours in the UK, but they tend not to be heat stable, sometimes not the dye OR the sprinkle! So fine if you're using to decorate, but for the cookies you cover in sprinkles and then back, they might a) melt and b) lose their colour! I always save my small stash of American sprinkles for those :)
That explains why they don't do well here then! 😂 I don't often use sprinkles ,but the few times I have here in the uk, they have been oddly disappointing with the color loss. I never noticed it they were all natural colors, but reading this leads me assume they have been.

This is so comforting as we all have been there and you show us it doesn't have to be stressful. That's a ton of cookie recipes - so hats off to you to taking all of this on in one day.
Just add festive sprinkles 😊
And…Andes makes a chip just like the chocolate and butterscotch. They’re so easy to use😊
I can also relate to the slight dyslexia. I had to quadruple one cookie when I caught an error in time, but my future self will love having extra cookie dough in the freezer 😊
The eggnog cookies sound delish!
Beautiful cookies! When I was about 12 I started making Christmas cut out sugar cookies I am 57 I have those special cutters still❤just took me back your videos are heart felt😊
Becky! I watch your videos while I nurse and put my 22 month old down for naps. We lay on the couch and he knows it’s Mama’s show and we both unwind. Xox
I love that you kept your mistake in the video and then talked about it so we knew what happened. Real life is best! Thank you for being transparent. These all looked amazing and I’ll be trying some myself 😊
I was taught many years ago to measure out all the ingredients before the mixing. I always go over the recipe before mixing.
It is nice to see we all make mistakes. I almost put baking soda in my cookies and it called for baking powder. I want to thank your Mom for the idea of taping the recipes on the cabinets. It made a big difference in cookie making.
You could make icecream sandwiches out of the chocolate ones. It may help to measure ingredients before you start, for me the extra steps helps.
I am so glad you shared your diagnosis. You were so familiar and I wondered always find that you are amazingly successful. I’ve always taught my kids to look at it as a positive how to master it as a gift and you definitely have mastered it as a gift. Thank you so much for sharing and keeping it real.
What diagnosis?
Love how you didn’t skip a beat on the too much cocoa. You are awesome!
You are are just so adorable. I watch every episode. Keep being you !
Seeing you be nice to yourself about your dyslexia helped me do the same. I had a very rough day because of mine today but we all do our very best!
Can I just say your kitchen is amazing! love all the ovens! slightly jealous 😊
I love her kitchen island!
There is something so cathartic & satisfying as a diabetic watching you make the cookies that I won’t.💕💕🙏💕💕🙏
Yes! Hubby is diabetic so no baking sweets here but it is fun to watch others.
Thank you so much for this input Tamara! My daughter was just diagnosed with dyslexia, ordered some strips there now. Never heard of them before😘
@@evamcneill1830 Another thing that helped a lot was training each eye separately.
Becky what a great video! The cookies all look good. I always tell my family, I share the good the bad and the ugly! Have a great week!😊
Your chocolate cookie will be good for dipping in ice cold milk. My Dad would love them. Great job Becky! ❤
I like watching your videos before going into work. It makes the process to getting ready for work mentally and physically easier.
Perfect timing, I'm having such a bad week, so I needed some yt time with Becky 2 put me in a better mood!!
Works every time!
Thank you Becky, your efforts help and your mistakes teach us all about grace. A word by the way I learned from you Happy Holidays my friend.
Blood in the egg is edible, just ugly😊 so if it happens accidentally, all is not lost
Yes I just watched a show on that. They are perfectly safe to eat. The commercial egg ers use X-Ray equipment to screen for those eggs bc, of course, no one wants to use them. Butttt, thousands of eggs are wasted from this process. .
Blood spots are fine and she'll can be picked out relatively easily, but into a bowl before does make that easier. Doesn't make me do it, though. 😂
When you started baking in both ovens I thought it would be interesting to compare and not how the two ovens bake. A great experiment!
Hi Becky!
So I own a Great American Cookies down here in Dallas Texas
And to save on sprinkles, all you really need to do is roll just half the cookie and leave the bottom without they will still look beautiful and also once you scooped the cookie dough out, you really do not have to roll them like you do your meatballs skipping them out it’s just fine🥰
Thanks for sharing part of your lives with others throughout our world via You Tube and Social Media. You are a beautiful family and very inspiring and entertaining! Thank you! I found You Tube and your wonderful channel a few years ago. It is like chatting with a great, precious friend. Thank you! What you share has helped me over come my anxiety. I love watching your channel when I might be feeling a little overwhelmed from having anxiety about different things, needing some mama time, doing household chores, cooking for our precious family of four and needing recipe and meal inspiration and or just wanting to relax a little. I look forward to seeing what God has for your channel in 2024. Much love, prayers and God Bless for CHRISTmas and the New Year from our family to yours from Australia . xxx
Your eggnog recipe is amazing! I’ve made it 4x this holiday season! Everyone LOVES IT!! A new family favorite! I’m actually making it for gifts!
They all look delicious, I always appreciate you leaving the oops moments in your videos, you are a rare find on you tube, authentic and a real awesome cook, great job friend, Merry Christmas to you all x
It makes me so happy opening the app and seeing that you have new videos ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I would love those chocolate cookies with a cup of coffee! I love dryer cookies with hot coffee in the morning while a read. Yummy!
Me, too! It's time to buy some ginger snaps...my favorite breakfast in winter.
My son’s favorite cookie is snickerdoodle so I would roll them in cinnamon and sugar and add some colored sugar as well.
You are adorable,Becky.! I love seeing you seeing your different recipes and how you need to change. You have such a beautiful Soul! ❤ I love you 💝 so much!!!!
Becky you did good never seen so many cookies ❤.
Anyone else see that it's almost an hour long and relax internally because you know that the next hour is gonna be soothing!
It always makes me happy to visit for an hour! I definitely want to try the eggnog cookies (for me and FIL) and the Andes Candies cookies (for Hubby).
I’m so glad you were so transparent about your error. I could see myself doing that
That's a good note
That explains why they don't do well here then! 😂 I don't often use sprinkles ,but the few times I have here in the uk, they have been oddly disappointing with the color loss. I never noticed it they were all natural colors, but reading this leads me assume they have been.
Hi Becky. I’m new I only watched your thanksgiving special and maybe one other.
I’m kind of happy you showed your human.
I always feel inadequate when watching these cooking shows so you probably made a life long fan today.
🌞
I'm super early for once!! WOO! SO excited to get baking ideas for Chirstmas this year!! You rock Becky!
I adore your honesty when you mess up!! Cookies are my forte and you are doing fine!!!
In my house if it is edible it's a win. LOL You are a great cook & baker. I learn so much from you. I am almost 70 and still learning.
I’m 67 and really love the lessons I’m learning! I planted elephant garlic-first garlic to plant! I’m canning some things but hope to can more in the future! Thank you Becky! ♥️
Becky, don’t doubt your cookie making skills! Not all cookie recipes are meant to be soft and chewy. Just as you are doing… you’ll come to know which recipes you like the best 🍪
I can’t stand when someone makes everything look like they didn’t make mistakes knowing everyone makes them! I love that about you. You admit mistakes so we can learn from them! Keep up your awesome videos! I never miss one!!
Just sat my 8 month old in his high chair. Ready to bake some cookies! Thank you ❤
Best way to hang onto a little person 😅
I don't think Becky has a high chair. Or toys, sippy cups, child dishes, a buggy, a swing. Very dull for any child.
Why do you not think she does@@ardell1350
@@ardell1350I'm sure she has those things... She is just very private about her child
@ardell1350 have you been to her home? What an outrageous comment.
I wish I had a friend like you go gifts wonderful treats ❤
Becky is at it again, you're such an inspiration to us ❤👍
I'm dyslexic n can't understand written I have to see...I cook like a crazy person I cook by eye n always everything tastes different from the last!..its a talent really xxx we're different and unique! ❤️
Hooray!!! I spent this morning going through my recipes for my holiday baking so I could organize my ingredient shopping list. Each year I try to add something new to the usual favorites, so your video dropped at a perfect time. 🍪
I just love being here with you and enjoying you baking all these yummy recipes
I used to always make Christmas cookie gift boxes for my coworkers at Christmas but I haven't managed it the last two years with a newborn and now a toddler running around. I really miss it!
Recovering in hosp. from 3 broken bones in my rt leg . These sessions are going to be invaluable when I get home forstocking the fridge and freezer for future meals. Thank you so much for all the useful tricks and tips.
I love that you share the hits and misses with us. Makes me feel not alone when I make oopsies. Lol💚
Becky, I love your videos, thank you! I'm trying the eggnog, Andes and chocolate peppermint.
Becky the mammoth job you did for Josh's work party was epic!!! Don't be too hard on yourself, I totally use your expression, my future self thanks my past self in my freezer meals, bless you and merry Christmas ❤
Wonderful, so happy you advice of errors when they happen, it happens to all of us!
Hi Becky, don't worry about the chocolate cookies, I often use cookies for crusts in cheesecake or other pies I just add extra butter after I crush them I a food processor. Love your channel.
Becky, I always enjoy your videos. Many years ago I would make dozens and dozens of cookies for gifts. My Bosch mixer was a life saver. Try it next time. You will love it. Thanks for your great cooking lessons.
Looked thru the messages to see if anyone else noticed this.
The recipe with the Andes mints that you linked to says, to melt the butter, chocolate chips and Andes mints, allow to cool, before adding to the whipped sugar and eggs. It also says to FOLD in the flour being sure not to over mix.
Adorable, you and your cookies! thank you for the recipes
Hello Becky, hello friends, happy hollydays for eneryone ❤ i love baking cookies for christmas season 🎄
Great accomplishment, getting all those done! I think everyone makes mistakes & I always make a mess cooking! Thanks for sharing! I bet everyone was so appreciative of your cookies! Blessings 🤗💕🇨🇦
