I was the last born of four girls and our Mother suffered from rheumatoid arthritis and was bedridden. By my age of 13 she was more in the hospital than out and that year my dad had to move 150 miles away, I was the only one still in school so I moved with my parents. I learned at an early age basic cooking but in the past two years you have taught me to use various spices I would never have used. Thanks, Signed: Learning at 76.
I moved away from family due to my husband's job at 24 and missed all the holiday cooking with mom. I am fortunate that my daughter and I do alot of holiday cooking. I am so sorry to hear that! My mom suffered from SLE and had a lot of pain when I was a little girl and her joints were a totally mess when I became a teenager. But she struggled along, did what she could and I did the rest. Hard for a child to understand a see ones mom suffer but I think it also gave us a great amount of independece and self reliance. Their love, their kindness pass to us from the screen❤. I can feel it as if I am there with them. I live in an apartment in an apartment building right in the center of Ankara, Turkey. I don’t have anything common with Becky. However, I watch her almost religiously. She invigorates me. I watch the episodes with her mother just to feel the mutual love, respect and kindness. I probably will never try any of the recipes shown here (except I may try pepper poppers with ground beef😊 sometime). But I certainly remember this wonderful mother-daughter everytime I enter my kitchen and I smile😊. I may not try their recipes, but, at the age of 66, I learn so many kitchen tricks and tactics from them. Thank you Becky & Mother.

We are having our Christmas family dinner tomorrow night (Friday) I can’t believe how many Becky recipes we are using-bacon wrapped stuffed chicken breast, Parmesan carrots, mashed potatoes, the cheesecake stuffed chocolate cake, the Andes mints cookies, and eggnog cookies. Last night we (hubby and I) even made Pioneer Woman maple cinnamon rolls for the neighbor gifts. I hope your cinnamon rolls turn out ok. You stated you needed a heaping teaspoon of baking powder and a scant tablespoon of baking soda and you used the same spoon. So much food, so much fun with your Mom. Thanks for sharing her with us.

Love watching ya'll get together in the kitchen. Let your mom know she can adjust her mixer where the paddle will reach the bottom. There's a screw in the hinge where your mixers top head and bottom meet when you lift it up. You put a penny on the bottom and starting adjusting till it makes the penny move slightly each time the paddle passes. Hope this helps.

Yesterday I made 6 recipes for my Christmas gift box. I have a WHOLE NEW appreciation for what Becky does, because it was freaking exhausting. I had fun though and it was very satisfying to suprise my friends, but holy hell, it was so much work.

But, ironically, she wasn't a great cook - in fact, I taught her to cook. But, she taught me to bake! I'm the artist and she was the scientist. She was my person - and I miss her every day. This was a wonderful share.... I'm 75 and this is how our family does Holidays... I used to cook with my mom; now my dtr and gdtr cook with me... my home is the largest, so I'm so lucky to have them in my home for the food prep time. The rest of the family and friends bring their 'potluck' dishes for our meals, etc -- thank you for the sweet time. I had a smile on my face while watching.

We have made the striped delight for years but our bottom is sort of a cookie bottom. Use flour, butter and pecans baked then the rest is the same as your recipe. You are right. It is ALWAYS a hit. Merry Christmas.

So nice, my mom passed in may at 96, so first Christmas without her, but my grand kids are going to rally around on Christmas Day and we will feast , play and carry on in a new tradition. Have fun !

Yesterday I made 6 recipes for my Christmas gift box. I have a WHOLE NEW appreciation for what Becky does, because it was freaking exhausting. I had fun though and it was very satisfying to suprise my friends, but holy hell, it was so much work.

For the cheesy potatoes I don't care for the bits of chicken from the soup so I use cream of celery soup 😋 The one with spices is extra good❤

@@jonap5740 Oh you probably could! I make my green bean casserole with a sauce like that and it's wonderful! If you do try it I'D sure like to know how it works out. Maybe just try a small batch

You both work so well together. I must say how commendable it is that you are so respectful to your mom, Becky. Although you did tell your mom that there was butter in the microwave before she took it out and it spilling, you were patient enough to submit and tell her you would help and even apologized. You could have said that you told her but you didn’t. Your mom and dad raised you well. And Mom, you are a great mom! God bless you both and Blessed Holidays!

I learn so MUCH from you and your mom cooking together. My mom passed 2 years ago on Christmas night (holding my hand) and I miss her so much. But, ironically, she wasn't a great cook - in fact, I taught her to cook. But, she taught me to bake! I'm the artist and she was the scientist.
She was my person - and I miss her every day. So, I totally snuggle in to watch you and your mom in the kitchen together. Brings me all the feels.

This was a wonderful share.... I'm 75 and this is how our family does Holidays... I used to cook with my mom; now my dtr and gdtr cook with me... my home is the largest, so I'm so lucky to have them in my home for the food prep time. The rest of the family and friends bring their 'potluck' dishes for our meals, etc -- thank you for the sweet time. I had a smile on my face while watching.

@@hollyjobitner3285 mine has a house phone ringtone, but it doesn’t have the right tone to it and her’s sounded just liked the one my mom’s did. Trust me, with 4 girls, my parents phone ran off the wall up until 8:00 pm most nights 😊 I miss that sound.

I watched this while I was doing all my Christmas Eve and Day prep and it made me feel like I had friends helping me! It was fun watching you and your lovely mom cook together and made my work go by fast. Thank you for sharing your family’s recipes but especially your fun prep time!
We have made the striped delight for years but our bottom is sort of a cookie bottom. Use flour, butter and pecans baked then the rest is the same as your recipe. You are right. It is ALWAYS a hit. Merry Christmas.

I have to say you ladies make it look so easy. Now, I’m in my low 70’s and I’m starting to get flustered when making big meals, certainly not what I was back in my 30s and 40s. You are both good cooks and everything looks scrumptious…
