I wonder if they have used the same material strength specification as the boom, as the base material is often Fe590 or higher. As is the specific welding wire and gas to use.

Ofcourse not.... besides that, no hearing or eye protection. It's a miracle they wear gloves. They dont even test for fractures/cracks in the folded areas... India is a big shit show safety and hygiene(literally) wise

      Obviously not the same material.
Did you notice the porosity of the plate in one area when they were welding it, also they did not prepare the inside steel nor did they coat it, Did they use qualified welds ???
Very poor quality of work except the way they put it together
And they do not know how to move plate, except man handling it,
When they put the piece in place, they used their backs to lift the one end, when they had a lug centered and could have lifted it in the center,
All brawn and no brain !
      And body filler ?
Obviously to hide the defects !
And definitely not preparing the steel for cover coating
How long before that will rust ?
      Definitely not 30 ton anymore
      Maybe 10 ?

HOW DO YOU WELD A CRANE BOOM SUCCESFULLY? YOU DONT.

    • @HolzwurmBW
      @HolzwurmBW Месяц назад +4

In Fact, there are repair procedures, but they're not even close to what they did in this video. If it was a pretty old model, it would be much easier because in the old days there were no high strength steels involved. But the shape of the boom section and the wall thickness makes me guess that wie see a newer generation boom section made out of high strenth steel such as S960QL or stronger. In that case, this repair is complete fail, especially teh hot straightening.

The only reason I can come up with for doing this "repair" is that they want to make it appear to be functional so it can be sold to an unsuspecting buyer.

Mig welders can do continuous welds, which is how and why they were invented. All this blobbing and stitching of welds except for tacking is neither safe, good practice or acceptable. It shows the world, that the man welding doesn't know how to use the welder and doesn't know how to weld correctly. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near that crane when it being operated for a lift.
