Tried the chigee for 5 weeks on my trip through italy and the balkan. The last week in Granada Spain. Works flawless with android auto. I did use google maps and tomtom ride. Only one thing, dont put your telephone in a tankbag with 35 degrees in the sun. It overheats and stops functioning. The chigee had no problem at all with these temperatures.
For those who don‘t have a BMW, I use the Chigee remote and works well. Just in case you are watching it and thought about options. Remote is not super user intuitive but works. You can have your fingers of course in the end, but just saying. PS. Would not trade in the Chigee anymore. Love it and compared to other devices, its a solid solution and worth the money.
Good Evening, so my Chigee Play for BMW has turned up after backing on kickstarter and connect via the Nav cradle which it brilliant for just unclipping when the bikes left over night. Previously Ive used the Garmin XT and the only way I could get everything to play nice with the intercom was to have the phone paired to the bike and the Cardo headset paired to the bike and the XT not paired to anything. I popped the Chigee into the nav cradle and when the phone rang it showed on the bike TFT and the Chigee screen and it mean't the bmw connected ride app worked recording lean angle and the like but you couldnt hear the Chigee voice direction and 'Hey Siri' wouldnt work. I've watched a video where they have said unpair everything from the bike and just connect to the Chigee but then if the phone rings it doesnt show on the bike just the Chigee. With your phone connected to the bike and the Chigee and the headset do you get directions and have the luxury of having the BMW connected ride app working with the bike? P.S the mrs is also connected through via intercom to my helmet which when using the XT would cut direction whenever i was trying for directions before the whole thing would through a wobbly. Thanks Jay
Hey Jay, there have been issues with all the carplay units I have tried from different manufacturers when it comes to helmet coms and their use. For me I have found that I forego the connection to the bike, as I dont really need the connected ride info, and I connect my Sena to the phone, and the Chigee to the phoine and everything works flawlessly, yes its a compromise, but it works for me, hope that helps.
I’m really interested in the chigee running mra app, is it really true that the CarPlay functionality doesn’t show the adjustable waypoints icoon on the top and skipping and reroute to earlier waypoints needs to be done on the phone?
Yes this is true, and a little frustrating, but nothing to do with the Chigee, its about the compatibility from the app dev's, I have made them aware of this and they are looking into it.
There can be slight discrepancies in the speed readouts, as the Chigee uses the GPS for speed and the bikes speedo is direct drive from the wheels which is instantaneous.
Does it matter how you position your phone when u use it for navigation? My thought was that it uses the phone for navigation (screen mirroring) but when i store it under the sadle to charge it i can’t place the phone straight in my driving position (diagonal and upright, because the place under the sadle is to small to place it just pointing forward). My “normal’. Bmw navigator is just upright and i want to make sure the route is displayed in the correct way.
Once you are connected to your phone on the chigee, the orientation of the phone is irrelevant and the route shows direction of travel as it should on the screen.
How does the phone battery cope using carplay?? Any issues with the siri indicator button? Does the indicator button only work when the tft is on Nav? Or both? Cheers
On the long ride from Land End to John O Groats, using the phone for nav, I had to top it up after approx 8 hrs but it was still on 43%, so no detrimental impact on battery life. The indicator button works once the bike is switched on as it connects to the bike via the RCA connector under the rear pillion seat. Cheers
I find that sometimes making a telephone call can be problematic because of signal dropping, so tend to let the wife know where I am using What’s App or a text that I can send using my iphone11 SC2 headset with Siri. The problem being I can’t read or hear any reply, Siri won’t voice the reply without the phone being unlocked. Can text/Whats App replies be read on the go?
Hey, yeah I have found similar issues to you, and WA and text can be read out to you whilst riding, this is the only way at the minute. However as mentioned above on another question, I have now just got Sena intercom and Chigee connected to my phone, it is NOT connected to the bike and "hey Siri" now works flawlessly.
BMW rider here. Two of my mates have it and are happy but I decided against this. It merely replicates the phone and all the bike related info I can have displayed on my GPS anyway. I like gadgets but cannot justify 500€ for it.
Why are all reviewers not testing Chigee with Android Auto? Is it because Chigee does NOT support Voice Control via Bluetooth Headset yet? (Chigee says they are working on it...)
This shit needs to stop. This is at least the fifth video from an obscure content creator who gets stuff for free. We end up paying for those gratuities. The chigee is 300 euros, 500 for the BMW version (go figure). I can only guess how much LESS it would cost if they didn’t keep giving units away. Sorry, nothing personal.
Hey, not taking it personal at all, apart from obscure content creator, which is personal, non the less, I have had my AIO5 play longer than any of the others, in fact I got mine tail end of Feb this year, and wanted to share my experiences after trying some of the others that were out there which I bought with my own money. I have not been active on here for a while as have had some hefty work commitments, but will be back in the new year with loads of kit reviews of stuff that I have been sent for free !!!!! Seems folks like a decent straight forward review from a down to earth Lancashire lad so intend to continue doing it with all the free stuff I get, and just to say the unit is worth 300 euros, I would happily pay that for it when compared to the others I bought. There have been some items that I was sent for free, which wont even make it to a review as they are just not good enough and I wont waste my valuable time reviewing something thats not worth it. So, in closing, may I respectfully request you stop being a "super leg end" and instead of moaning, for no apparent benefit to anyone, be constructive and positive and you may just be contacted by a vendor to send YOU some stuff for free, as thats what happened to me.
@ with a hefty 358 subscribers, you’re not exactly on the radar as far as British content creators are concerned, are you? One day, maybe. And the whole “I got this item for free but this is my honest review” charade is probably one of the reasons I don’t have a channel “I paid for the unit and this is my review” should be a requisite. Nobody can be impartial towards a manufacturer because they already send one unit and because they may feel inclined to send more if the feedback is positive. BTW: the universal version costs 300 euros, but chigee, in its infinite wisdom, decided to price the BMW version at 530-ish euros. Call it the BMW tax.

How to do increase the font size on the screen, the street names are so small, just impossible to read.

Thank you for the well done review ♥♥♥ - do you experianced a problem when your phone has lost the LTE connection?

Can you control music volume with the BMW left handlebar wheel control? Thanks!
No, thats not possible as it cant control the Sena or Cardo headsets which is where the volume comes from, I just use the up and down on my intercom.

I'm assuming that the speed on the chigee was in kph hence the difference between the bikes speedo and the unit 😊

Probably because Android sucks. LOL

I had no idea the voice control didn't work with android auto because it works perfect on iOS
