Z51 Spoiler removal / Aftermarket install / c8 production updates

- Hope this helps you if your looking at removing it. It’s not complicated but does require a lot of space to safely put your rear bumper down when removing the spoiler. My opinions on the aftermarket spoiler are mine alone and should be taken with a grain of sand. Please let me know if there is any other mods you want to see us do in the comment section below.

For sake of answering some of your, and your audiences questions, please allow me to elaborate on the water intrusion issue you mentioned:
In terms of water exposure, the entire inside of the bumper cover is exposed to the elements. You can see water marks on the bumper when you pull it off in the shop before the car was even driven much. I've personally owned my C8 since March 2020 and run the bumper at times with nothing on it since the spoiler has been such a hot item most of the time I don't even have one for my car.
The black vents below the tail lamps, and the vent in the diffuser, are wide open to the same area the spoiler bolts to. The area is extremely well vented and is designed to be exposed to water and the elements. The exhaust is in the same area producing lots of dry heat as well. The trunk and hatch stowage area are completely separated with their own weather stripping and there is no way for the spoiler to have an impact on their area.
I'd also note the full length tape line along the leading edge which would prevent water from the hatch seeping in. The only water that could get in would have to drip down the back side of the spoiler and then suck itself between the spoiler and the bumper and then through the bolt holes. Alas if this is a major concern we could supply 1" of tape to cover both holes, or you could place a piece of tape over them to prevent the drop or two of water from getting in.
The High wing and spoiler has 6 fasteners and we have 4, but we also have 80+ inches of .5" 3M OEM Tape with a weight rating of ~42 lbs per inch. The reason we did this is to distribute the load more effectively across the enter rear bumper as opposed to 6 small screws. The RSC mounting system is significantly stronger than the OEM.

Guess I'm in the minority on this, but I don't care for the look of the new spoiler at all, visually breaks up the clean flow of the stripes.

Idk if i'd mess with the aero on the car. Especially on the z51. All the aero was wind tunnel tested and balanced between the front and rear. You can't rip off the rear wing and replace it with a visual one without unbalancing the car at high speed. The car does make 400lbs of downforce...

Good point...I wonder if they actually tested it in a wind tunnel or at least consulted with an engineer about the specs...if it’s just for appearance, it looks pretty cool IMHO
Never seen that spoiler before, looks very cool. I'm keeping the original to my 2021 once it arrives. Don't want one flying off.

They might take off second shift at the corvette plant due to a parts shortage beginning in January according to Rick conti who has a corvette channel.
Yeah given the nature of what’s going on in North America I am amazed we have been able to go this long with two shifts, very proud of our BG team

I don't know and it is probably just me but I really do not like that spoiler. To me the high wing is so much cooler. It will certainly be the high wing for me. Really thankful you showed this one.

There isn't much RUclipsrs from Canada that talked a lot about C8 other than yourself that I know of. Instead your experience I'm from Hamilton area if I ordered my C8 in July what are your thoughts on when you think it will come in pending we don't have any delays . The 2020 C8 Corvette is a beautiful car in performance I just don't like the way the back of the car looks and in the front they have to do something with that funk I'm sure they will which is ZO6 in the new models to come out the back of the C8 should look more like a traditional Corvette
Centre exhaust will help that out

He should of use some type of cloth on his tool to keep from scratching the paint

Is it possible to remove the spoiler on the C8 as I would like to order the Z51 pkg.; but, do not want the spoiler as I want ease of access to the trunk? I am hopeful any holes can tastefully be filled in with color matched plugs?
You can remove the spoiler but you can’t do it from the factory, either get a base and add mag ride and a performance exhaust or do z51 and remove the spoiler and fill in the holes
Hey man, when you upgrade your wheels to 20 in front and 21 in the back, can u use the tires that came from factory or do you need new ones?
Bigger rims means bigger tires
just wondering how we can order a 2021 since the specifications are not published such as mag ride w/o Z51

@@kevinpolley3524 yessir. One of the biggest upgrades to the 21MY. Tadge is even driving his new red mist one in this because he is keen to make sure it’s perfect, this is going to really improve the broadband to the corvette user.

Could that new spoiler have been installed only with 3M VHB tape? I have a non Z51 and am patiently waiting for other spoiler options, in Carbon Flash.
If you were to come to our dealership I wouldn’t be able to guarantee our quality of work, I would be very cautious of doing that. Those spoilers are not cheap and your at the mercy of some 10$ tape

I thought there was an additional piece of carbon fiber between the roof and the rear window ? Also I think the optional carbon fiber high wing spoiler looks better although I believe the Z51 spoiler is the BEST LOOKING (☹️too bad I can’t get one without the Z51 package... I don’t track my cars) ! Thanks

Thoughts and prayers. If the holes are drilled, I would seriously consider taking mine to a Bodyshop and filling them in before I installed a two post

I wish. I was hoping this would be an option for 21MY but it looks like they will wait til the mid cycle refresh. If there is one thing you can afford to upgrade it’s to a 2LT. You will not be disappointed and it will greatly add to resale
