I am over 50 years of age and in my lifetime I have never found any comedy duo to be anywhere near as funny as the legends which were and still are Laurel & Hardy. Thanks for all the laughs.
Me too, I’m early fifties and grew up watching them on TV in the seventies. Though I’ve liked a lot of very different comedy over the years Laurel and Hardy are still top of my list when it comes to the greatest comedy of all time.
yup pretty much. You can have a somewhat rumbling of amusement on very rare occasion with other Duos but it's only the truly great of the arts that effortlessly remain still very funny. Something great shall always remain so and that's why these guys shall always be so thrilling to watch. It's when you genuinely can't remain silent for letting out chortles that you know how excellent this stuff still is. As modern as the day it was performed
It's easy to get all misty eyed and sentimental and imagine that things really were better in the old days. But watching this you can't deny this pair are the best there's ever been.
Everything is timed to perfection, the choreography of the comedy never been surpassed, loved them as a kid and still do now, greatest comedy act ever.
Pure genius they set the bar no other duo has ever been able to reach my favourite is when they are chimney sweeps in a posh house they trash the place and the butler walks into the room and says ( somewhere there is an electric chair waiting ) What a classic
I think the coolest thing about watching this today is knowing they were genuine, they stayed close friends until the end and Stan tried to personally reply to every fan letter he got, even talking to fans on the phone, true class. ❤
To paraphrase one of my favourite lines of Stan's, when he answered the phone: "Mr Laurel, it's a long distance from England". Laurel: "It sure is" (puts phone down)!🤣
The visual comedy of these two was just timing and pure genius,...they executed the art of simple comedy like no others before or since ...they stand alone as the giants of their genre......
Just look at the awful rubbish that we have for comedy today. Nothing funny about it and panders to a woke agenda. Barrel and lardy we used to call them and they were the best!
Got the full box set with everything they did, including the silent stuff they did separately before they got together. Them Thar Hills & Tit for Tat still hilarious every time 😂😂😂😂
I watched these guys all through my childhood, super funny. I remember the scene with the pool queue going through the glass & I still laughed when I just saw it 😂
My grandma loved them , so did my dad , so do I , so do my kids and so do my grandkids. I fully expect many, many more generations to love them , too. Just brilliant . Now please excuse me, my ear is full of milk !!!
Its constantly being copied, americans have never moved away from visual slapstick comedy, even their talk shows pay the stars to act 'goofy' in some visual comedic way for laughs
I'll always be connected to these classics because they were my Grandpa's favorites so I got to watch them growing up. This style of slapstick is all but lost today.
Such simple clowning around, but the comic timing and chemistry between both actors, made them amongst the best comedy duo to have graced the Holywood screen. Mention slapstick comedy, and Laurel & Hardy are high on the list as the finest there's been. Thank God for the existence of the Hal Roach studios.

This kind of comedy never gets old, and I don’t think anyone has even come close to the magic that these guys had! Best of all I can still see my dad sat in his chair laughing his head off with tears steaming down his face while watching them!
Stan Laurel was born in Ulverstan, England. There is a Laurel and Hardy Museum there. My friend and I spent about five hours there, there are many artifacts about their life there, including a small theater, we watched their movie shorts for about three hours, we had many laughs. A few blocks away is the house where he was born, with a Plaque outside. It was well worth the trip.
As long as people continue to possess a sense of humour their comedy will live on. Still the funniest double act of all time. Their like will never be equalled let alone surpassed.
We loved Laurel and Hardy due to being brought up with our dad watching these he had the DVDs box sets in later life and then his great grandson loved watching them too ..happy days.
Pure comedy gold. Between now and the end of time nothing or no one will ever be as funny as Laurel and Hardy. The world is far too serious nowadays. Laurel and Hardy should be shown on TV every morning. The world would become a better and more happier place.
