It's fascinating to see how these two masters play with a very simple premise. Chaplin's performance is like a dance, with each dancer timing their moves with precision. Keaton on the other hand is pure physicality and bottled chaos, but equally as precise. Keaton's ability to take any moment of the routine and go in completely the opposite direction of what would be expected is certainly more noticeable than Chaplin's, but Chaplin played with the audience's expectations by subverting moments but inevitably leading to the outcome one is expecting. Neither one is better or worse than the other; both are masterful in their planning and execution.

I agree with you. They are true artists that perform on different levels within their genre. Each had his own unique style and are entertaining in their niche. Enjoy them all, and be glad that there was such a wealth of comedic talent. The editing is extraordinary BTW.

@@adhamjonmirzayev416 с появлением звукового кино Чаплин потерялся. Ничего не поделаешь: он - гений пантомимы. Едва в кино появились новые выразительные средства, он не смог конкурировать с новыми комиками.

Both cartoon characters, but Chaplin in this is more Buggs Bunny, messing with the rules of the game, and Keaton is more like a little kid who doesn’t understand the rules. Both approaches made this interesting

City Lights is still one of the funniest movies ever made, the interaction between Chaplin and the rich drunk guy gets me every time.
Buster Keaton has to be one of the most impressive people in the history of cinema, the creativity of the man when he was in charge of his own output was insane.
