I remember the first time I saw this film my dad sat me down to watch it and by the time we got to this part he had already started crying with laughter because he knew what was going to happen so by the time clouseau sticks his finger in the lamp socket my dad was laughing so hard he was crying and by then I was laughing at him it is a memory I'll treasure as everytime the film came on my father just couldn't contain himself and would say look look remember this!!!!
My Farher and I went through the same thing! My mother never got it. I guess it is great humor for guys! Every time I see any of the Peter Sellers Pink Panthers, I lose it. It's hard to watch it because I'm laughing and crying so hard that I can't breathe! Just like my Dear Ole Dad. He passed this on down to me... Pricless, both the memories and the movies!
steve martin not even close. i saw these when they came out in the movies.. amazing.. 😂 i wish theres was movies like these still. we need stuff like peter sellers did then. master of comedy 👍👍
I watched some of these movies with my mother, and watching her laugh at Peter Seller’s antics made these movies so much more enjoyable. God bless all of you fans of this fantastic comedy.
Peter Sellers was an absolute giant of comedy,.....he left a legacy of incredible work , that entertains generation after generation with his comedy genius....an irreplaceable talent
I haven't seen all of Sellers films but what I've seen are legendary Particularly Blake Edwards films I also like the co stars of Sellers films So many Graham Stark Victor Spinetti Chris Plummer Ian Carmichael Robert Loggia......too many to mention 🤩😍🤩
I love Danny Kaye. Some scenes of him have me crying with laughter (Inspector General and The court Jester in particular) I love Peter Sellers as well but he is _not_ the godfather. That would be ignoring all the greats that went before him, like Buster Keaton, Laurel & Hardy, Charles Chaplin, Lucille Ball, Those 3 stooges guys etc
By himself in a room for seven minutes, and he is utterly hilarious. Notice how long the shots are. They just rolled camera and let Sellers do his thing.
such decent funny comedy. no dirty words, nudity etc. we really this back in our world now. you can’t sit down & watch anything with your kids anymore !!
I remember seeing this film for the first time at an evening showing at our local cinema. I couldn't sleep a wink that night because I was still laughing so much at what I had seen earlier replaying all the funniest scenes in my mind.
Absolutely brilliant...Peter was a genius..yes he had his demons ( havnt we all!)... Can't think of anyone who could come even close to recreating this masterpiece...!!
I would be exactly same secret/undercover agent. I am equally clumsy and I am always like an elephant in a china shop. I adore this guy and his comedic power.Sheer genius, avant-garde actor.
I Remember watching Sellers as a child with my parents. I was too young to get the humour then, but now I just cry laughing at this wonderful silly man!
I think this was funniest pink panther film that I have seen. Peter Sellers with the light bulb kept popping out lamp socket. Mike Grady playing the bellboy. & He played gormless Barry in The Last of the Summer Wine.
If you pay close attention to the scene, however, you can hear him use the hand which is hidden behind the bed to turn off the switch that they attached to the bulb...
I grew up listening to the Goon Shows, absolutely brilliant comedy to appeal to the idiot in everyone. Pink Panther and Peter's other movies were awesome. Sorry Steve Martin you didn't come close. There will never be another like Peter Sellers.
I can watch this sequence probably 100 times and have tears in my eyes laughing every time. As a German, I love it when Clouseau speaks German right from the start: "Guten Tag"; "Wie gehts?" Of course I prefer the original English language!
I already had tears in my eyes from laughing when that stupid parrot came out of the vacuum cleaner with his mustache on it's beak, then I lost it!:o Peter may have moved on, but he left us his legacy of comic Genius that is a soothing tonic in today's maddening times. Thank You Mr Sellers!
"Stupid" parrot? Come now! That parrot is a genius compared to Clouseau! It knew trouble was coming when it saw Clouseau enter the room, and it was quite correct in its negative assumption and its reactions. :-) All animals know instinctively that a disaster is upon them when Clouseau appears! As, for example, the little dog in the chalet. ("Does your dog bite?") The parrot struck back in the best way it could when it shat on Clouseau's shoulder.
@Max Lannon From todays perspective he wouldn’t get an oscar for his performance. But the 70s were different compared to whats funny for us in these days.
Zero. Not a "dignified role" for the Academy. Unless you play a physically sick/mentally deranged/sexually confused/handicapped/historical figure/Disenfranchised...type of characters, your chances of winning are almost non existant...
This scene, just like the one with the doorbell, the office desk, are good for ASMR. The sounds behind the comedy make this movie, in particular, the best of the series imho. 🍀🍀
I saw this movie on HBO after it had come out in the movies (when HBO first was broadcast and only on for a few hours a day. It was this scene through the masseuse scene where I pretty much laughed non-stop - And my mom still talks about me laughing at it. I was hooked on the Pink Panther movies.. and just saw "A Shot in the Dark" for the first time the other night!
"A Shot In The Dark" is wonderful even if only because it introduced Herbert Lom, who made such a brilliant comedic foil for Sellers, as Chief Inspector Dreyfus. The fact that Lom somehow managed to keep a straight face in some of those scenes is amazing. Then again, it's possible that he was slipping in one or two of the scenes in which they appeared together...such as the one in which Clouseau comes to visit Dreyfus in the beginning of "The Pink Panther Strikes Again".
I have got the whole collection of Peter Sellers and Herbert Lom in The Pink Panther movie DVDS as I am dedicating these movie DVDS to my old school friends who are both sisters as I hope to see them both again very soon to Chris and Hester from Billyxxxxx
40 or 50 years earlier, Peter Sellers would have been one of the greats of silent film, just like Laurel and Hardy and Chaplin and Buster Keaton. He had the same talent for taking a room full of ordinary objects and making a disaster out of them!
Yeah I know what you mean, something that a child won't do but yet he does it. He's gone but not forgotten, RIP Peter Sellers and Burt Kwouk. They were awesome, hilarious, clean slapstick comedians. They sure don't make a clean, funny, awesome comedy like that anymore for the entire family to watch together?
RIP dear Peter Sellers.
You "ARE" still the King of the comedy.
You were gone but not forgotten.
“Swine bird, that is MY private moustache!”
My favourite of the Pink Panther series 😂
"You Naughty bird"
SSSSSwiiiine 😂
I remember the first time I saw this film my dad sat me down to watch it and by the time we got to this part he had already started crying with laughter because he knew what was going to happen so by the time clouseau sticks his finger in the lamp socket my dad was laughing so hard he was crying and by then I was laughing at him it is a memory I'll treasure as everytime the film came on my father just couldn't contain himself and would say look look remember this!!!!
Treasure that memory my friend
Not much different here. LOL
Much comedy works because one can anticipate the outcome.
Pricless, both the memories and the movies!
yep!
Films don't get any funnier than this.Absolute masterclass in physical comedy. He will never be bettered😂😂
That incredible gift of tearful laughter he gave us. Genius, gone way too soon.
No one has ever come close to Peter sellers. Pure genius.
So good classic
steve martin not even close. i saw these when they came out in the movies.. amazing.. 😂 i wish theres was movies like these still. we need stuff like peter sellers did then. master of comedy 👍👍
No one until Sacha baron cohen
I agree the man was a genius
This scene and him crossing the moat in pp strikes again.... Epic
"That is my private mustache, you naughty bird." 😁
The way the parrot entered and left the vacuum.....😂
Lol the way he says Mustache cracks me up every time
I watched some of these movies with my mother, and watching her laugh at Peter Seller’s antics made these movies so much more enjoyable. God bless all of you fans of this fantastic comedy.
Peter Sellers was an absolute giant of comedy,.....he left a legacy of incredible work , that entertains generation after generation with his comedy genius....an irreplaceable talent
Absolutely.
Thank you Peter Sellers for giving us that wonderful gift of laughter. RIP.
Does your dog bite? 🤣
Peter Sellers is the Godfather of physical comedy nobody in history of Comedy has ever come close to him
Laurel & Hardy
I love Danny Kaye. Some scenes of him have me crying with laughter (Inspector General and The court Jester in particular) I love Peter Sellers as well but he is _not_ the godfather. That would be ignoring all the greats that went before him, like Buster Keaton, Laurel & Hardy, Charles Chaplin, Lucille Ball, Those 3 stooges guys etc
Makes sense! He even played in a godfather costume! XD
Buster Keaton.
Still amazes me how brilliant Peter Sellers was..♡
Sellers was in a class all of his own - a creative artist with perfect timing
Chiet Dreyfuss is funny to
I know. He was my godfather
@@gregorypaulmartin3725 - So how was he when off camera? Seemed like a complex person - but very talented
The man is a genius. No words. Just brilliant physical comedy. A truly wonderful man. Amazing talent
By himself in a room for seven minutes, and he is utterly hilarious. Notice how long the shots are. They just rolled camera and let Sellers do his thing.
Yeah less cutting

Such a shame he never got an award for any of these! Pure genius!!
No one can destroy a room quite like Clouseau
The original Mr Bean
Not a room.a groom
Frank Drebin came close in Naked Gun.
Clouseau, Destroyer of Rheums.
🤣 Maybe the teddy bear Paddington is a distinguished opponent !
I just love this guy Peter Sellers. He just breaks everything he touches and causes chaos wherever he goes !!
Almost wet my pants laughing. Pure comedy genius. Boy how I miss this kind of stuff.
such decent funny comedy. no dirty words, nudity etc. we really this back in our world now. you can’t sit down & watch anything with your kids anymore !!
Peter Sellers could produce the best physical comedy!!! No one else in the scene and have you laughing for ten to 15 minutes nonstop.
I could watch him time and time ! It never gets old!
Omg... Peter Sellers for ever!! :D I remember laughing with tears in my eyes when I saw these movies for the first time ages ago. Still do.
@phosphorescent wave
To us he was without comparison one of the worlds greatest comedians
Leslie Nielsen was the only other actor that had me in stitches as an older comedic actor like Peter Sellers.
I love Peter. Miss him.
The man was a complete and utter genius
ooh you are so right my friend ..
Staub Sucker,staub sucker!! Braaaoccck!
No doubt. He is the best.

Petter Sellers was a comedic genius, but that light bulb. oh Kato, that's the true genius. *pop*
I don't think people realize what a genius he was! RIP Peter!!
Just brilliant- the way he keeps furtively looking around…hahahaha
The way he stares at the lamp after it pops out the bulb the first time-like the gears are turning in his head except they're spinning in neutral.
Stripping the gears is more like it. Genius, pure comedic genius.
watch this 100 times and all times same reaction , tears from laughter , Peter was a genius R.I.P grandmaster
my grand father loved these films ... what classic slap stick comedy 🤣🤣🤣🤣 the doorbell scene in this film is 🤦♂
Τhere are not such comedies nowadays...Nor actors like great Peter Sellers...
3:54 "Swine bird that is my private mustache you naughty bird" 🤣🤣
I love that line 🦜 ❤
A skilled genius actor, at work. Enjoy. The likes of him will never be seen again.
So many great visual jokes in such a short space of time. Sellers was a comedy genius .
Indeed. He made me laugh. And everytime I watch movies about PINK PANTHER, I still laugh on Peter Sellers' gags.
Peter Sellers was the best at what he did......miss him.....
No one has ever came close with this comedy genius than Peter Sellers
Not one foul word, amazing so funny.
No films other than Pink Panther and Sellars have made me cry laughing
I remember seeing this film for the first time at an evening showing at our local cinema. I couldn't sleep a wink that night because I was still laughing so much at what I had seen earlier replaying all the funniest scenes in my mind.
Omg, thank you for sharing that priceless memory! 😃
Genius. One of a kind comidian. Must watch it will make you cry laughing
Some vacuum cleaner 🤣🤣comedy genius Peter Sellers!! 👍👍
One of the greatest British actors ever!!!!!
Absolutely brilliant...Peter was a genius..yes he had his demons ( havnt we all!)...
Can't think of anyone who could come even close to recreating this masterpiece...!!

That was a priceless Arcimbolo painting.
Not anymore. By the way, you should count your socks. You might find that one of them is missing.
I Remember watching Sellers as a child with my parents. I was too young to get the humour then, but now I just cry laughing at this wonderful silly man!
The sound effects should get loads of credit for making this scene so funny.
Wagner. Dick Wagner!!!
"THWOP!"
I think this was funniest pink panther film that I have seen. Peter Sellers with the light bulb kept popping out lamp socket. Mike Grady playing the bellboy. & He played gormless Barry in The Last of the Summer Wine.
Peter Seller & Mike Grady should’ve won Oscar for acting & supporting actor.
The parrot is funnier than a lot of modern comedians!! Peter Sellers, comic genius RIP
His accent and obnoxious behavior were hilarious
Ever have a similar day! It CAN happen. That poor parrot. WHAT A COMEDIC GENIUS....
OMG, Sellers was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely hilarious never gets old😂😂
The hand rising above the bed with the lit light bulb kills me every time.
If you pay close attention to the scene, however, you can hear him use the hand which is hidden behind the bed to turn off the switch that they attached to the bulb...
Classic comedic genius. R.I.P. Peter Sellers
I love the part with Catherine Schell wearing just the towel 😍❤️
Just gold, peter's timing
Is so perfect. Thanks mr sellers.❤
Pure genius.
Simply the best of all time 😅
Pure genius that’s all,pure genius.
I grew up listening to the Goon Shows, absolutely brilliant comedy to appeal to the idiot in everyone.
Pink Panther and Peter's other movies were awesome.
Sorry Steve Martin you didn't come close.

The gag with the radio/room safe: just brilliant, really funny!
I can watch this sequence probably 100 times and have tears in my eyes laughing every time.
As a German, I love it when Clouseau speaks German right from the start: "Guten Tag"; "Wie gehts?"
Of course I prefer the original English language!
The man was a genius. He is a great loss. Sadly there doesn’t seem to be anyone who can match him.
Seeing the parrot laughing was the scene climax that really made me breathless for some seconds.🤣
Maan Peter Sellers rules! One of the best comedies ever😂😂😂😂😂😂👌

Peter sellers was a mega star .
I love the pink p movies soooo much. ❤❤❤😂😂😂❤❤❤
Yes absolutely and not forgetting the genius of Blake Edwards who directed these classics.💓🇬🇧

😃😃😄 thanks for the laugh Peter Sellers stress reliever❤
This scene is right up there with "Ere iz lurking at yur, kiid"
One of his best.
No one can compete with this...., it's special to him
The movie has its weak spots but this scene....aah this scene is just a perfect example of visual comedy....hysterical !
If this man was still alive. I wonder how many oscars will he get
none
@Max Lannon From todays perspective he wouldn’t get an oscar for his performance. But the 70s were different compared to whats funny for us in these days.
@Max Lannon I do not agree with you. Other generations, other humor. The slapsticks from the 70s bring just a smile over the youngsters face today

That poor parrot …
One of the half dozen or so true comic geniuses. This is his funniest film.
Only Sellers could make madcap comedy out of absolutely nothing and have everyone in hysterics
Give Sellers a burnt out match and a broken lightbulb for props and he could hilariously wreck an entire hotel in ten minutes! What a geniud!
Saw this when it first came out as a scrawny 11 yr old. Loved it then and still love it now
I have got the whole collection of Peter Sellers and Herbert Lom in The Pink Panther movie DVDS as I am dedicating these movie DVDS to my old school friends who are both sisters as I hope to see them both again very soon to Chris and Hester from Billyxxxxx
Spare a moment to appreciate the brilliant acting by the parrot. I feel for him. Hats off, Blake Edwards.
The scene where he limbering up to open the safe, and the music blares out, is my favourite part of all the panther films, I lose it every time.
Wagner is the right music for this scene
Ich kann nicht mehr ...... einfach nur genial!
Loved his movies made me laugh a lot
I did watched Return of the Pink Panther the movie and it was awesome, Peter Sellers was the picture perfect actor to play Inspector Clouseau!!
40 or 50 years earlier, Peter Sellers would have been one of the greats of silent film, just like Laurel and Hardy and Chaplin and Buster Keaton. He had the same talent for taking a room full of ordinary objects and making a disaster out of them!
