On the R5 there is a setting called "Movie Servo AF Tracking Sensitivity" where there's a sliding scale. On the low end of the scale -3 is "Locked On" where the focus will track the face no matter who else appears in the frame. On the Canon R50 there isn't a setting called "Movie Servo AF Tracking Sensitivity". Is there an equivalent setting that locks focus on the person you tap regardless of who else enters the frame?
The R50 has Movie Servo AF Tracking but there is no sensitivity adjustment. Tracking locks onto the eye (including animals) and can also detect vehicles for tracking. The R50 is entry level and the R5 is Pro level and 3 years older. Thanks for watching
Hi i have an R7 and decided to add the R50 mainly for size back up etc. There is one setting that i personally would advise to change. I put the RF 85mm F2 on the camera and it was driving me nuts kept focusing when not even the shutter button is touched, after a bit of messing about i found in the AF menu AF (Purple) #2 tab which says Preview AF set this to disable and it stops this nonsense. Some may find this useful. Anyway great little camera and thamks for the vid
Ah yes PAL/NTSC. I wondered that too when I first got the camera that 1/2 the video modes were not available. I think it was by chance I tried NTSC and away we go with all the additional modes. Thanks for watching as I really appreciate it. Cheers 😀
@cre8r61 It is growing and will continue to do so :) Decent, positive people like yourself will be rewarded if you stick with it. Im here for the journey, my friend!
A great question and an easy fix. Press the Menu Button > Select the 3rd Tab (Playback) > Go to item 4 > set AF point disp. to disable Hope this information helps and thanks for watching 😀
I have watched several of your videos regarding the R50. However, I couldn't find any information about the AWB (Auto White Balance) feature. I would like to know if it is possible to lock the AWB balance when recording starts. On certain Sony cameras, there is an option to customize a button for this purpose.
Hi there and thanks for reaching out and watching as I appreciate it. I don't think theres a customisable button option on the R50 BUT you can add a custom menu tab to access white balance features. AWB adjusts for any scene. There are settings for Daylight, Shade, Cloudy, Tungsten, White Flourescent, Flash, Custom (using a grey card), and customisable deg K
In video mode go to the wrench menu (yellow) > page 2 > item 1 > Video System and change that to For NTSC Thanks for watching - I really appreciate it. I’m currently working on an exciting video for an $89 HDMI video transmitter/receiver product so come back for that one when it drops
Hello sir recently i bought a R50, when i try to take pic and video on the screen look everything normal, but after the took the photo then im showing flip i mean like mirroring. How to fix it? Can you help me please 🙏
This is an EASY fix In movie mode press the menu button and go to the wrench tab (Yellow Menu). Go to Page 2 > Item 1 - Video System and change from PAL to NTSC. Thanks for watching and hope this information helps - cheers
Hey, just transferred my first video from this camera and... colours are totally messed up, over saturated. audio with external mic kept cutting in and out... any thoughts?? Had to get a new video out so made it on my phone with the same mic and it worked fine. Cheers.
Shooting in HDR PQ. This messed with my video early on. Sound on mic issue - unsure and I'm guessing you double checked batteries (if required), all connections secure and TRS jack used. Have a look at Picture Style menu. I have created a custom setting that works for me
Exporting hdr content is a complex topic, but if you’re using premiere pro, make sure the color space for the export is rec 709. You’ll also have to change the color space to rec 709 under sequence settings. If you don’t, the hdr pq video nits will go beyond sdr, which will wash out all highlights. Enable Lumetri scopes window, set it to show hdr nits, and you’ll see it’s up to about 600 nits. When you change sequence to 709, it’ll remap it to sdr values, which will be good for 709 export. I hope this helps.
Either is a capable option depending on your budget and features required. Thanks for watching. The camera decision website can be a great resource for comparison of 2 cameras side-by-side

Thanks for watching - both cannot be displayed at the same time. If you fold the screen back to the camera (so the screen is protected) the EVF should work. Hope this helps
Thanks for your question and thanks for watching as I appreciate it - if I understand correctly you're missing some of the additional menu items listed? If you turn your mode dial to from A+ to one of the other photo modes like M, AV, TV or P; then the other menu items will be there. There's nothing to update. Hope this helps. Does the 3x3 apply to videos or photos only? Any tips for # x # for videos? And do you record your videos through the EOS R50 seven utility or use the R50 via HDMI to a capture card at all? If so, does the quality of video you choose impact the transfer? In other words, if I have the R50 set to 1920x1080p@30fps, can a capture card bypass that and record at 1920x1080p@60fps?
3 x 3 grid doesn’t display when record button pressed - I just realised this 😮. You can use an external monitor. I used Neewer F100 and Feelworld F5 Pro. You can display grids on the monitor When I use the capture card (to record what’s seen on the R50 screen) this is 1080p and what quicktime uses for the native fps (30fps from memory) A great question. I hope the info helps

@@cre8r61 I'm actually planning on snagging this camera on black Friday with the 18-45mm lens kit. I'm planning on shooting short films with my friends but trying to find out how to get the aspect ratio to be more cinematic, apparently I can really only do 16:9 with this camera but that fills the whole screen when I just want the black bars on the top and bottom. Ultimately the grid settings are the only thing I can really use because I'll just add the black bars in post-production and when filming I'll measure how much will actually be seen by using the grid settings. If you do know a way to get a cinematic aspect ratio on this camera while filming then it would help a lot though

Good afternoon, why does my Canon R50 Turn off after 18 minutes while streaming?
Thanks for watching - interesting question. I wonder is your issue is related to overheating perhaps?
