- My year old 2019 Tacoma’s 4x4 system broke. Not hard off road or anything major...flicked the switch when on a light dirt road and nothing. Thought it was something small then when I need it the most I try it again and nothing. Thank goodness for a electronic LSD...otherwise the truck would still be 10+miles in the backcountry. Stay tuned for the next video to find out what happens...truck goes to Toyota in a few days.
Your suppose to put it on neutral to engage the 4wd
It does matter
Wrong!! In 4h which he was showing. You can actually go 62mph and it will engage without going into neutral unless 4l which shouldn't be more then 5 or 6 mph!! Your welcome newcomer!!
You have to drive at 5 mph
That’s the 1st time I’ve seen that happen with the Gen3 Tacoma’s . I use my 4wd for hours on in on trails , twice a wk in the Arizona desert with my 2018 TRD OR and never had a single issue with the 4WD system or anything on the truck 40,000 miles still like day1 when I bought it brand new 💪
I have a 2019 TRD Offroad. Today marks the 3rd replacement actuator. Dealership has no explanation.
Have you ever had a problem coming out of 4lo? Took me 30 minutes rocking forward and back.
Honestly never had an issue with my transfer case shifting into or out of 4hi/4LO after thousands of off road miles in Arizona desert now with 41,000 miles on my truck it works flawlessly I’m trying to find something wrong with the truck but I can’t
Yeah, I'm a little over 45k miles on my 2019 OR truck, a good chunk of that is offroading, never once had any issues going in/out of 4hi/4lo
I have a 19 4x4 sr5 and it's doing the same shit
that's weird? hopefully the dealer can fix it? I'm its some kind of computer glitch! with all this new tech! voodoobluetacolife19
I am thinking it is an actuator...but you're right, with all this new tech sometimes things break. Will post an update video soon.
I just got the same truck but TRD OFF ROAD 2WD. I curious to see how the dealer handles this. It should still be covered under Manufacture Warranty hopefully. Makes me glad I purchased the extended warranty which I didn’t want but got a good deal on . Waiting for next video. Hope it works out good for you. Good thing you weren’t alone on that trail.
Just run little bit and engage I just got mine ! Only for the low I need to stop an put in neutral
was the truck made in Mexico or the United States? I wonder if it is a factory specific problem
I believe they are all made in Mexico now. Although, I do not think it has anything to do with the factory it is made in. Really just a wearable part that gave out. It is unfortunate but things happen. Ended up being a small actuator that was replaced under warranty.
It doesn’t matter where it was made from. Good chef will make same dish no matter where they make. 😂
Did you end up finding out what was wrong? Did you use the 4x4 system often?
Yes and yes! Posted another video for an update but basically it’s the 4wd actuator. Nothing I did wrong or no use issues. Just luck of the draw. I guess it’s a common issue!
Spencer Steele so much for a 4wd Toyota reliability
Tap the actuator under your car. It’s stuck because you don’t use your 4x4 often.
I have a 2019. I use the 4wd every weekend. Today marks the 3rd actuator replacement. The dealership has no answers.
Well that sucks...Hope they fix it and take care of you.
Sam M thanks! Stay tuned, goes into Toyota tomorrow.
Toyota's quality went down the shitter in recent years. Especially the Tacoma ever since they started to build them in Mexico.
