Most people when they complain about Tacoma towing never leave it 4th gear nor do they use the ECT which helps a ton glad you brought that up , even though I’ve towed a sedan on a flat bed trailer double axle which was around 5800# it did great in the hills. I did leave it in sports mode 4th gear the whole time with Ect ON after towing 36 miles to my destination, I ended up avg 13.8mpg not bad for towing in the hills , speed was around 55-60mph
    Good review bud 👍🏻

Wow if water stains the seats that bad, beer and liquor would probably stain even worse! Thanks for the video!

Thanks for the update though. I got 2023 sr5 v6 3.7 , absolutely luv it. The first I took it from dealer to home, a small rock or pebble hit the windshield on the highway . I was very lucky the damage to windshield is very tiny that can barley be seen.

    Solid review . Lol . “ I didn’t say rock climbing “ ahahah
My Tacoma did the up shift deal on me . But I learned when it would , example what roads and what speeds it liked to upshift at . Like you said it’s all about how you drive .

They make protective covers for the dash. They can even mask scratches in a lot of cases

Living in FL, you have to maintain plastic and rubber a lot more often than I would like. On the other hand, do to the lack of snow..... lol, not much rust but we do have salty air in Florida and rust is still a possibility. Love my truck and don't miss Maine winters.

Completely of topic but I really dig that 79 Mercury outboard.
The Nautique - 10 on the cool factor.

If you haven't already, the diffs/transfer case should be serviced every 30k. Especially if towing/off roading.

    • @92813justin
      @92813justin  2 года назад +1

Yes, I did them at 30k and about to do them again! I offroad and tow but the oil still looked brand new

It’s great in a manual. I’ve Valley runner tuned mine since 2k miles. I let my friend drive it who also has a 2016 Tacoma and he made me tune his after haha.

Toyota recommends you change your diff fluids and transfer case fluids at 30,000 miles. Please do more research before you tell people the wrong thing.

Is it just me or does it ride bouncy and swervey on the highway? I travel i70 in Colorado often and it handles like shit.. Off-road it’s a total badass.

      What year and trim?
I test drove the trd sport it was surprisingly stiff and smooth. Felt very road oriented. Im holding out for the off road though.

How’s the bilstein suspension holding up? You did the 5/4 setting with an aal in the back right?

For sure the dark age of Toyota Tacoma is the 3er Gen, if the car is not under warranty you will spend a lot of money on a new gas pump, transmission problems and a lot of issues related with the 4x4. I have a 2018 Tacoma and shame of Toyota for building this shit....car.

The 3rd generation Tacoma’s are absolute garbage. Went with a new f150, different class of truck but the new Ford will put Toyota to shame.

Hello. Iiked your Tacoma video. I'm going to buy a new Tacoma. I live in Michigan in the salt. Do you think I need to get it rust proofed? Yours looks good. I don't think you got your rust proofed? I'm retired so I won't drive it on super bad snow salt days.
    Thanks.

Smith, I went skiing nearly 30-40 times a year in Colorado with this truck and have had great luck with the salt brine they but down on the ground. I would always power wash the truck the next day to get the salt off of the underneath side. If you wash your truck consistently throughout the winter you should not have a problem. There are also products out there in a spray can you can use to protect your frame (be careful of rubber components when spraying those)

I lived in Michigan, it's too cold to power wash in January, February, I would get it rustproofed for peace of mind. Great honest video, I just got my 2022 Sport DCLB 4wd. I really like it except for the lack of power.

16-21. Depends on how fast I am going. If I go 60, 21mpg. If I go 80mph, 16mpg with the roof rack
