I know that mountain well, have been up there many times in my younger years. That structure on the peak is the old Canadian National Railways microwave tower. The road was built to to bring up a tanker of diesel fuel every August to run the electric generator. A fiber optics network made the tower obsolete. One day a friend stepped off his snow machine at the peak and disappeared through the cornice. A tragic event. Another time forty five years ago I was driving up that road and my land rover was charged by a moose. The moose won that battle. Now I live 250 km to the south and get along with a cane or walking stick. Have fond memories of the Robson Valley and friends who are all gone now. Stay safe Forest. You are one of our best - a national treasure.

Take time to mourn, but apparently Mr. (Ms.?) Crockpot missed Mr. (Ms.?) Old Minivan so much he/she could bear no more to be separated (although I guess technically Minivan is not yet deceased, but nonetheless separated from us...). RIP old friends... I swear I will someday climb to the summit to the resting place of Crockpot to sign the ledger and pay my respects to the beloved countertop appliance...😢
@Scooter McDingleberry A terrarium seed starter would use the glass lid too. But better to label the glass top with the quart size and model and donate back due to glass lids are always needed for replacements.
@Scooter McDingleberry No no..I just have experience breaking lots of glass lids lol! I liked very the flower pot idea..but the crock has no drainage holes and flower roots would rot. It looks like he has a small lavender plant already and he has tried growing greens.
A moment of silence for Crock Pot, really like your idea for it's final resting place, and looking forward to what you decide on for the next Cooking unit (NCC 1701A). 😎 The drone footage from the summit, mind blowing sir. Thanks for the Chicken al a Foresty Forest recipe and the van building update.
Oh well. You know, Sartre says, that "one always die too soon, or too late." Never on time :) RIP Crockpot. Good to see you back on the trails, Foresty. Cheers from Bulgaria!
I refurbed my crock pot, reattached the heating wires, cleaned up the rust... it worked ok, but in the end, the switch was bad (didn't work in low, only high) and buying another thrift store crock pot for $7 was the easiest fix. I couldn't find a new switch that would fit inside the case. These things are built to a price point, they're all rusty inside once you wash them a few times. That dang one-way nut on the bottom is designed to thwart reassembly too. Anyhow thanks for the memories that will live on in our hearts forever, and the recipes as well! (PS, since you don't have solar, running the big inverter for 80-160W slow cooks may not be the most efficient thing. Pressure cooking will use less energy total (1200w peak, but only intermittently after it heats) You can also saute in the instant pot.
The heating wires worried me a bit. I didn't think they looked possible to clean up. Definitely best to just get a replacement. There are more survivors out there!
Just in time for dinner (in Sweden) forest! :D Perfect timing! There's nothing more wholesome than foresty working on his van and moving aboot! :D EDIT: NOOOOOoooo. So many good memories... RIP our dear friend. :'( EDIT2: That Moutain is just magical! the mast looks like some forgotten castle on the top of the mountain, lost in the blistering cold of the snow... You know where this will end up mate! Awesome work on the video! :D
It could be fixed, but honestly $5-10 will get you another crock pot at the thrift store, often like new. I spent a lot of time getting a few more miles out of mine but $7 later I have a brand new one from Goodwill.
I am a professional chef, and I'm truly impressed by your culinary creativity, using minimal ingredients and equipment. Working in restaurants, I have almost every gadget at my disposal, and pantries full of everything I need. I applaud you. Always travel safe.
They were cloned and luckily I have that exact slow cooker I bought in Alberta. You should be able to source a new one at a store, for sure on eBay, but if you can’t I would be proud to send you mine in cherry condition to an address of your choice.
If you think of all the interest and goodwill that cooker has earned slowly over time, you must realize how many people came on board for the whole package. It seems needless to entirely do away with it. There is room for change and common sense too.
@@br3wsan ah but the true beauty of the crock pot is that it cooks slowly, I've never climbed a snowy mountain in Canada but I can tell you from experience that have a warm delicious meal already cooked when you get home is a beautiful thing. With the instapot he would have to get home and prepare his food when he tired and hungry. Never underestimate how awesome just coming home and eating when you're tired is.
@@grannieannie1371 The instant pot pot has a slow cook option among all those options I mentioned. I have used it on mine many times to come home (back when I used to come home, these days I never leave) to a warm delicious meal.

The fact that the crockpot meals was the way I found you, it’s such a sad thing to see her go, so many meals I did not think was possible you created in her. RIP to the ForestyForest Crockpot. The flashbacks was the best part
That trip down would have been a good time on some skis
That's a wicked idea. Hike up with some 🎿
I did several of those climbs the skiid down in 15 minuter in Alberta. You get real cold going down but you car is at the end.
That mountain top footage on Canoe Mount was breathtaking.
That slow cooker lived a more adventurous life than i ever will
RIP Crockpot. Thoughts and prayers with everyone in the comments today.
We're all here for you FF. Losing such a dear friend is hard. You have my condolences. RIP Slow Cooker.
@Scooter McDingleberry Yes..his technique was a little off...
The crock cooks for angels...I'm gettng misty here
May crocky slowly cook delicious meals in the afterlife. RIP
I plan to make a slow cooker meal tomorrow in honor of crocky RIP
ribs, thai chicken, every FF recipe I've tried has been a winner
12 shot salute to a dedicated warrior, RIP .
RIP good buddy, a hero to many. Hope you're up there cooking wings and ribs for Hendrix and Einstein
Imagine the stories that slow cooker could tell. RIP legend.
May the crockpot rest in peace, being one of the few crockpots to have travelled in the Canadian wilderness. You will be missed
I feel like a part of my life has been completed now that we know the story behind the glass thing.
Anyone else crying over the loss of our dear friend? 😭
Can't believe I got choked up about an old (beloved) crockpot.
No, had nothing to do with Crock Pot, I was chopping onions! That's my story and I am sticking to it.😥
Tears steaming. Who'd a thunk it?
Oh well. You know, Sartre says, that "one always die too soon, or too late." Never on time :) RIP Crockpot. Good to see you back on the trails, Foresty. Cheers from Bulgaria!
Rest in peace Crockpot, you may be gone but you will live forever in our hearts.
Likely the first video ever dedicated to a crockpot RIP @crockpotmanufacturers Please send forest a new one
It took him longer to upload because he was grieving
Don’t undersell yourself, you’re at least a semi-pro parking lot carpenter by now.
Love the drone footage, RIP to the slow cooker.
R.I.P. Crocky! Fantastic drone footage!
EDIT: NOOOOOoooo. So many good memories... RIP our dear friend. :'(
EDIT2: That Moutain is just magical! the mast looks like some forgotten castle on the top of the mountain, lost in the blistering cold of the snow... You know where this will end up mate! Awesome work on the video! :D
Buy a new cable, a sodddering iron and some sand paper so you can get all of that rust out. The pot isn't dead yet, don't give up on it!
Yes
Clear!
That's what I was thinking. How complicated can it be, no circuit board, computer chip in that basic unit.
Id just tape the wires
It could be fixed, but honestly $5-10 will get you another crock pot at the thrift store, often like new. I spent a lot of time getting a few more miles out of mine but $7 later I have a brand new one from Goodwill.
My man forestyforest back after almost 2 weeks. We were missing you, buddy. Glad to see all it well
The feeling about the closed border is mutual. I can't wait to get back in Canada again!
Slow cooker performed admirably but there's no going back.. Foresty should go Instant Pot like he mentioned.. Opens up so many more options.
There's some beautiful cinematography in these... well done
That time-lapse at the end is a cool idea. My sincere condolences to your loss. ;-)
My condolences for your loss she was always there for you but now she will be a memorial on top of a mountain for all to visit and touch.
Magnificent footage up the mountain👏👏👏
That is terrible Foresty, Cookey hasn't cooled down yet and your talking about replacement?
Best comment!!👍😂
Right in front of her too
You believe this guy?
It isnt PC to assume ones gender. It could be a genderfluid crockpot. for all you know. Jeez
@@thisone. I’m talking about foresty
This is some of the most ethereal and gorgeous footage I've ever seen on RUclips. David Attenborough should narrate your hikes.
But I need to get my fix hearing how Foresty says “Out”!
The Crockpot served us well. It will be missed 😭
Beautiful photography
R.I.P crocky. No other cooking device can RIVAL you.
