I got in trouble when I was 10 for ruining my brother's copy of DP's "Made In Japan" album, by repeatedly playing it on my kiddie turntable.
It opened a world of music that was not being represented on my parent's stereo downstairs.
It was at that point I no longer wanted to be an astronaut when I grew up. I wanted to be Blackmore

Dio was the only singer you'd take your eyes off Blackmore for... everyone else, although good singers, lacked the presence to compete with Ritchie for stage presence. Cozy was another one to watch! RIP Powell, Dio and Lord🙏

Barking mad, enigmatic, staggeringly gifted and fickle and difficult to work with. Yet, to my mind one of the most influential players of the rock era. Some may have played with more feel, but the thing about Blackmore is that you never knew what the mad bastard was going to do next. Definitely age and arthritis have taken their toll, but the memories we have of him at his peak are ireplaceable.
Love your post I'd love to look inside Ritchie's Medicine Cabinet and see exactly what kind of "PSYCHOPATH" he truly is😂, but...... he's a totally brilliant, mesmerizing and awesome, genius axeman who can captivate an audience with all manners of music on that white hot strat he literally plays to death when he's on fire live on stage, seen him live on numerous occasions and he's breathtaking and never ever disappoints.. I'll go as far to day he's dangerous, unprecedented, unpredictable and an absolute beast.... Phew that's it from me... hope you enjoy reading my reply to your post as much as I loved and agreed with yours👍👍

I don't remember this lineup of Rainbow rocking so hard!
It's because no live material was released at the time,except this only on video. Some people believe Rainbow could not exist without Dio,but the JLT version of Rainbow achieved far more. Same with Deep Purple, some people only rate Deep Purple with Ian Gillan,but that's only because more Live material was released of Deep Purple mark2. Every formation of both bands were Great!

I saw this tour, it was my senior year of high school. The only difference is I seem to remember it being louder than this video implies. But that was a long time ago, and the Coliseum always made a racket.

Love Ritchie and have done for 40 odd years but this era with that bell end Joleen was excruciatingly bad at times ( every time jlt subjected us Rainbow fans to his disco rock nonesense)

JLT had too high a pitch and not enough power to his voice for me, Rio and Bonnet suited the songs of Rainbow better.
