People saying canucks overpaid dont understand that getting a top 4 D is much easier said then done. Even teams that are openly tanking do not have defense assets that are readily available for cheap.
@@Reaganmacleod12 Canucks were in a lose lose situation. Do you keep miller and have a poor locker room or do you trade miller and lose out on a potential 100 point player who has maybe 2-3 good years left? Considering miller had a full no trade clause and was only willing to waive it for the rangers, they got what they could. Time will tell but too many variables that could or could not happen to openly decide a winner right now. Canucks needed help on D and if markus re signs, plus several really good D prospects the canucks have that can make the jump the next year or 2, that D core will be crazy.
Around the Pittsburg trade Granlund's child was born dead, so that probably explains why he wasn't playing that well. There were also some other off the ice stuff going on during that time.
As a Nucks fan it sucks to see Miller go but getting a solid 2-3 C and using that cond. 1st for a top 4 D was a great move. Also dumping Heinen and Deharnais is a step in the right direction. Let's see if a restart helps clear the air and hopefully the blueline has some support.
yeah, stars fan here and I wish all of y’all who don’t care about them until playoffs would actually watch some games bc everyone has been dogging all day on our right side D without caring that lyubushkin has been pretty damn good for us this year
Grandlund's struggles in Pittsburgh could be attributed to a messy divorce he was going thro at the time. Once it was done he played some of his best hockey ever in San Jose.
Stars fan here. Happy with Granlund as a power play specialist and a guy that can boost our depth scoring as it's been lacking lately. Ceci I think is more important for us though as losing Heiskanen and Nils Lundqvist for potentially the rest of the season is. a huge blow and adding Ceci helps us not have to use 2 AHL defensemen in the NHL. The combination of Ceci and Granlund can help us send both Lian Bischel and Kyle Capobianco back down to the AHL and allows us to take Brendan Smith off our 4th line forward and put him back in defense
As a Sharks fan, I am very sad to see Granlund go. Especially now, I am worried Celebrini is gonna get played too much for an 18 year old rookie. Granlund helped him grow and also ate the toughest minutes. I also thought that the Sharks should extend him, but it seems him and Grier didn´t agree on extension, so I guess the return is fine. The first is probably not as valuable as it seems considering the strength of Dallas Stars and the depth of the 2025 draft, and the fourth is whatever.
The more I think about it, the more I think the Canucks had both trades mapped out before they did either. They were probably going back and forth between the Rangers and Penguins because whatever they got from New York, some of that had to go to Pittsburgh. I remember something about the conditions on the 1st round pick being a sticking point for Vancouver, so maybe they took a while to get Pittsburgh to accept the conditions on the 1st rounder and once they got them to do that, they could go back to the Rangers and accept that deal. It wouldn't surprise me, given that Rutherford likes to get out in front of everything and always seems to have his rumoured targets, landing quite a few of them. This felt like a movie that was basically coordinated. Pens agree to take a conditional 1st along with the other players, and then they go to New York to accept that deal. Pittsburgh may have been asking for a 1st rounder without conditions.
As a Penguins fan, I will miss the Dragon in a Pens uniform. We got huge value from him after he arrived from Anaheim. A first round pick either this year or next will greatly help the rebuild, and if we ice a bad product we are more likely to receive a top 5 draft pick this year. In a perfect world, we give up on 24-25 season get a high draft pick who grows with Crosby as a mentor for 2 years, being well set up for the future in Pittsburgh.
The Devils will trade Erik Haula, Dawson Mercer, Simon Nemec, Topias Vilen, and a 2016 1st-rounder to the Senators for Brady Tkachuk, Oskar Pettersson, and a 2025 7th-rounder, trade Nolan Foote, Brian Halonen, Santeri Hatakka, Cam Squires, and a 2025 3rd-rounder to the Kraken for Oliver Bjorkstrand, Eduard Sale, and a 2025 4th-rounder, trade Nathan Bastian, Seamus Casey, Lenni Hameenaho, Chase Stillman, and a 2026 conditional 2nd-rounder to the Sabres for Alex Tuch, Noah Ostlund, and a 2025 1st-rounder, and trade Jake Allen, Arseni Gritsyuk, Jakub Malek, Herman Traff, and the Oilers' 2025 2nd-rounder to the Canucks for Thatcher Demko, Danila Klimovich, and a 2026 4th-rounder.
Dallas gave up their 1st round pick for nothing 😞🔪🔪🔪☠️☠️☠️ stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid! Pittsburgh needs the Rangers to keep being trash, they'll make out great! Vancouver got a decent d man so it was good for both sides. DALLAS...... WERE YOU ON THAT ROCK WHEN YOU MADE THIS TRADE??!!!???!
Except he will be the 6th/7th D, where he belongs. Not like some foolish teams that played him in the top 4. Lmao, can you imagine what team would do that?
@ even with him and Granlund the Stars still have about $5 million in available cap space due to LTIR and an expendable Dumba that can open up about $3.5 million more if absolutely necessary. The only thing that is important is that Ceci is on an expiring contract. They won’t be bringing him back next year for near that price, if at all. So really doesn’t matter having an expensive bottom pairing D for this year alone.

Yeah but horrible asset management, pretty much you got Marcus petterson and fillip chytil for a former 100 point player
Yeah, absolutely. The Canucks desperately needed help on the blue line. They need to take the pressure off of Quinn Hughes.

I mean, they could've snagged Ferraro from the Sharks for cheaaaap
Ceci pushing Dumba out of the line up is just as valuable as Granlund himself.
Vancouver collecting Petterssons' like Pokemon
Collecting petterssons like infinity stones
Gotta catch em' all!
They already have 3 Petterssons and 1 Patterson.
What's a pokemon.?
Very happy with the return as a Sharks fan
Nemec incoming
@ this guy gets it
San Losè robbed Dallas. Terrible!
Enjoy being bottom feeders that don't deserve a team though 😎
Granlund will be a winger in Dallas. A familiar position for him.

Heinen and Desharnais were their own signings months ago. Fixing mistakes by overpaying isn't good asset management.

Collect all the Pettersons, and they will join their powers and combine into one Human Centi-Petey!
Nicely done!
As a pens fan great deal!! I think penz neeed to sell more players but this is a really good start.
Another Pettersson on the canucks 😂
As a Minnesota Wild fan I hate that Granny is going to Dallas😥
What do you think of boqvist going to the isles? Love your content buds! Keep it up🙏🙏

@@zcohen17 so your team wants a 7th dman making 3mil got it that's really smart of them
