Love the video! Also want to point out that Cuylle and the rest of his line still haven’t allowed a goal, they’re 11-0. This alone makes them one of the best lines in hockey.
Before watching the video, I think Mikael Granlund has been the most surprising. On a awful team and is a point per game. No, I don’t think he will keep it up but he’s been great. I’m a Pens fan and I hated when Hextall got him but seems he is working well In San Jose
Lot of choices for the Caps and no objection to Strome being the choice, but personally I want to specifically highlight Aliaksei Protas. Last season in his first full pro season where he wasn't being scratched every other game, he only notched like 29 points total. This season he's not only stepped it up to currently be just shy of a point per game player (with 15 points on the season so far) but he's gone from a third-fourth line winger/center to comfortably servince as Ovi and Strome's RW and moving with speed and confidence. For a 3rd round pick with atrocious skating when he was drafted to this?? Incredible. And if he keeps consistent, the 3.375x5 the Caps signed him to is going to be one of the best values for money contracts in the league.
As a Red Wings fan, from start of this video, gotta say my most pleasant surprise has been either Marco Kasper or Jonathan Berggren. Those two have been awesome. Berggren definitely stands out right now with how much he's stepped up, noticeable every night, great at setting up that line in the O-zone, and he's been sound defensively like they wanted. Marco Kasper hasn't gotten much in terms of production, but he's really showed up in the way he drives play and moves, and he has silky mitts.
@ragnarthered6459 coping huh, I'm talking about the games he played not the time he has been injured and he has 11p in 13 games btw. Nylander is just clearly better then him and I would probably take Pettersson over him aswell
As an Oilers fan.an honorable mention should go to Brett Kulak. He already has 4 goals and 7 points this year when he had only 3 goals and 16 points last year.looks like he's gonna have a career offensive year on top of being a very good defensive player.
Marco Kasper is a sight for sore eyes as a Detroit fan. Sure it took him a while to bury a goal, but he’s always been giving it all every shift. Great chances, movement away from the puck to help the team. He’s going to be a great asset in the future.
@@ILoveGothWom3n As a Penguins fan I agree. Jarry and Ned can’t play in front of this defence yet Joel Blomqvist has played great with no help from the defence and he made his NHL debut this season
Hopefully he becomes close to Saros type of good. Would help our goalie situation. We don't have that many elite or good goalies. Saros, Luukkonen, Lankinen. Of course there are really promising prospects coming like Blomqvist, Kokko ans few guys in Finnish leagues.
Labanc wasn’t released by New Jersey. I just learned this year because of this, a player can still sign anywhere even if they are on a PTO with another team. Labanc had a really good preseason on New Jersey and they offered him a contract but he opted to go elsewhere
For the bruins I would say Swayman is the most surprising. In a bad way. He had high expectations as for the contract he signed, and DEFINITELY didn’t live up to them so far.
The longer Cronin is employed, the more detrimental the development will be to all these young studs on Anaheim. Absolutely sucking the offense out of them by making them play lifeless hockey which isn't compatible with the strengths of the personnel at all
My choice for buffalo is quinn. He was expected to take a jump and fill a top 6 role on the forward core, and has been a nonfactor so far this season. Really hope buffalo makes a trade for a top 6 forward very soon
Tough to choose whether to pick Clarke or Laferriere as the most surprising for the Kings. I think both were expected to have higher production than last year, and both are exceeding expectations so far. Now we just need them to maintain a similar level for the rest of the season.
@AscendedXSaiyan you obviously haven't watched much Jets games then. He had one off game against the leafs, other than that its like watching a whole new player
Sam Bennett's a good choice for the Panthers, but I think better choices would have been Niko Mikkola or Dmitry Kulikov. They've been just as good a D-pair as Ekblad-Forsling so far.
robertson has never skilled nor fast enough to be a superstar. Sure, he's cerebral, but with only brains and shot he's not really a threat. Robertson isn't a driver, nor is Roope Hintz as of right now. Maybe this is why nhl players rank robertson as the most overrated player in the nhl.
Love the video! Also want to point out that Cuylle and the rest of his line still haven’t allowed a goal, they’re 11-0. This alone makes them one of the best lines in hockey.
yeah in that rangers-jets game that line was the best line out of both teams, and im a jets fan
Cuylle isn’t a surprise to me, as a rangers fan. He’s a great player and I only expect him to get better

I'd say jack Thompson. Granlund already carried the team last year
He was nearly point per game last year.
A former pens fan? Lol talk about a fairweather fan😂. You a Chiefs fan too?
@@BROCKOLEE2617 Oh, I don’t know how former is in their. I’m a current Pens fan. Lol
If I remember correctly Grandlund was going thro an nasty divorce during his time in Pittsburgh. Could explain why his game was off.
Before I watch my most surprising player on the Devils so far has been Johnny Kovacevic. Thought he would be a #7 at best, been solid all season.
Lot of choices for the Caps and no objection to Strome being the choice, but personally I want to specifically highlight Aliaksei Protas. Agreed brother
Necas the goat
Dostal has been a BEAST for a crappy ANA team so far this season!
I like your concise transitions from team to team. Keep up the great work
Great video. Granlund just plays great every year. Even a few seasons ago in Nashville he had a bit of a resurgence. Consistent for sure.
As a Red Wings fan, from start of this video, gotta say my most pleasant surprise has been either Marco Kasper or Jonathan Berggren. Those two have been awesome. My most surprising Canuck has been Pettersson. Did not expect him to be so bad compared to his contract. Not even playing like a 6M player.
Spoke too late
What do you think about Matthews then? 😂
Matthews has been hurt and still has 13 points.
@ragnarthered6459 coping huh, I'm talking about the games he played not the time he has been injured and he has 11p in 13 games btw.
Nylander is just clearly better then him and I would probably take Pettersson over him aswell
@@Cedisdead ah you're a nucks fan that explains a lot. 11 points while playing hurt vs Petey just being garbage who's coping?
Ryker Evans is looking like a future #1 D-man, he’s a joy to watch
As an Oilers fan.an honorable mention should go to Brett Kulak. He already has 4 goals and 7 points this year when he had only 3 goals and 16 points last year.looks like he's gonna have a career offensive year on top of being a very good defensive player.
Wow Kesselring mentioned! Don't see that everyday

Been more surprised with how good Joel Blomqvist has been playing, despite the roster in front of him tbh
@@ILoveGothWom3n As a Penguins fan I agree. Jarry and Ned can’t play in front of this defence yet Joel Blomqvist has played great with no help from the defence and he made his NHL debut this season

IMO, Gallagher has to be the most surprising Montreal Canadien
I have dorofeyev on my fantasy team and he’s been a great free agency pickup
Most surprising on the oilers have to be kulak and nurse. Both consistantly playing like top 2 d man. Did not see that coming
Labanc wasn’t released by New Jersey. I just learned this year because of this, a player can still sign anywhere even if they are on a PTO with another team. Labanc had a really good preseason on New Jersey and they offered him a contract but he opted to go elsewhere

Guenther on Utah would have been my pick. He really started out well.
Great Video, as usual, Nyquist
Wyatt Johnson has dropped off for the Stars too.
I will say, Georgie has actually been really good for the last 4 games so all he needed was a game in Winnipeg
Tough to choose whether to pick Clarke or Laferriere as the most surprising for the Kings. I think both were expected to have higher production than last year, and both are exceeding expectations so far. Now we just need them to maintain a similar level for the rest of the season.
Yes, we love Benny here in Florida.
Can’t say the same here in Boston
@quackingplatypus listen, we're not doing that hot lately either. Just got embarrassed back to back by NJ
As a Jets fan, I can confirm what you said. Last year pionk was awful top to bottom and this year he has been excellent on both sides of the puck
He still hasn't been the best defensively. The glaring problems are still there, but he's been *FAR* better offensively to mask it
@AscendedXSaiyan you obviously haven't watched much Jets games then. He had one off game against the leafs, other than that its like watching a whole new player
@Jits75 Oh I actually have. I've still seen plenty of defensive gaffes from him.
@@AscendedXSaiyan I've seen the opposite. Very few and far between and not noticeably more than other D
love laffy on the thumbnail!
Bedard only scoring 3 goals in 19 games is to me the biggest surprise
I remember everyone wrote off Dylan Strome when he was in Arizona.
Top nhl RUclipsr forever
Sam Bennett's a good choice for the Panthers, but I think better choices would have been Niko Mikkola or Dmitry Kulikov. They've been just as good a D-pair as Ekblad-Forsling so far.
Well there is a reason Lukáš Dostál is a World Champion 🇨🇿 best goalie on that tournament also.
How do you not go with Jake Middleton for the Wild? Gustafson has played at this level before but not even Middleton would dream of this level...😂
Dostal is throwing away the chances of a #1 pick next draft and I don't know how to feel about that
Newhook is NOT a surprise lmfao
Going to make a prediction and that its either sherwood or lankinen for the canucks.
Oilers should’ve been Kulak
Finally, some love for my boy gaudette everybody is just ignoring him.
Imho, the most surprising players (yes, I mean players) for the Caps are Ovi and Stromer.
Video suggestion: predict vezina finalists based on this season start and return to it come awards
1. Hellebuyck
2. Hellebuyck
3. Hellebuyck
4. Shesterkin
Will there be a deal or no deal coming soon?
Jason roberts was just lot to lucky with deflection empty net for histoire 40 g season he à 25g 30g guy 65 70 pts max
Not even just Robertson. What happened to Hintz and Heiskanen? When they start playing, Dallas will be on another level
So the surprise player can be a positive or negative?
Would have prefered 2 videos, one for each.
Let me guess, Sharks: Granlund
Even though the Oilers are doing better I still wouldn't be surprised if they miss the playoffs
you clearly havent watched the canadiens, newhook (points aside) has looked like one of mtls best players, especially WITHOUT the puck
I'd say more gally or Evans
Donato is the Blackhawks surprising player ********
Canucks: EP40
Zary or Wolfy over Sharky, sorry not sorry 🤷🏻♂️
Unrelated but ullmark has been absolutely horrible this year extremely overpayment for someone who is playing like an ahl backup
He's having down year. Same goes with Swayman. His old buddy. Also it doesn't help that ottawa d isn't really good.
Pionk is terrible, feel bad for anyone signing him over league minimum
:0

I have Jack Quinn and Georgiev in my salary cap fantasy team lol
