Didn't he just gave great credit to the cameras? Why y'all keep on screaming about the DAC and the headphone jack? The DAC is fine, only great when you have the right headphones!! Sigh. LG didn't bring what's needed for the flagship competition in 2019! Which one of you uses the manual mode in the camera daily or uses the DAC daily?🤦🏾♂️
That’s such a niche though. 95% of people don’t need a DAC in their phone since they’re fine with whatever audio comes from a streaming service and most streaming services stream at 256 or 320, and no casual listener will even notice the difference with ear buds or whatever crappy mainstream over the ears they have.
@@CinemaSteve EVERYONE who listens to music needs a DAC. EVERY phone has one because it's needed to convert the audio from digital to analog (that's what "DAC" stands for...). The human ears only can hear analog audio. It has to be converted at first.

@Theo Park First off, im only asking him to read his comments, i saw no response for eny of the comments that had good critisism. And well, i think its alot of factors to concider with ur critic to LG, one is that its not only LG having a defisit, but also, apple and many of the big phone companies, innovation in the feeld has had a major break down the last few years and that why i love to see some actuall innovation, like LG tried to do here. And also i dont think LG got the right marketing and branding or just falls short in that department compared to the apple and samsung. Also a point for me is that LG's phones is relesed in the near price range of other big flagships, and has a hard time maintaining it self with the other heavy class phones. When you see a price drop in the LG on the marked, its usually way better buy then most phones out there.

The S10e does everything better than the G8? The quad DAC? Rear mounted fingerprint with 3d facial scanning? 3500 mah battery vs 3100? 1440p screen vs 1080p screen? Quick charge 3.0 vs 2.0? $130 less at Tmobile and sprint? Dawg... your review is just BAD
Have the S10e and the G8 is just not as appealing especially when the S10e is much cheaper. As a LG G5 owner, the Quad DAC is nothing special as long as one doesn't have something with a medium impedance. Those with low impedance (or normal stuffs) or hard-to-drive earphones/headphones won't be able to benefit from a Quad DAC. The S10e doesn't do face unlock but it has a more convenient side fingerprint sensor. The video mode of S10 sure doesn't offer a lot of tinkering but if that's a deal-breaker for you, go for the G8. I really doubt 99% of the population need a manual video mode and they should have a Pana GH5s instead. What G8 doesn't really have is the polish the S10e has. Everything works perfectly on the S10e (not other S10s) and the G8 simply can't offer the similar experience without alot of tinkering.
Sorry but the s10e in my opinion is a better phone especially with the new price drops. The quad DAC doesn't really shine unless you need the amp. Unless you are using Neutron or Power amp with your FLAC files Android will upscale the files. As a person who doesn't always use files for convenience this hardly makes a difference but yes i occasionally have my favorite albums downloaded. The headphone jack on the s10 is fine and sounds great with my fiio fh5 which i did try with a v40 for awhile. I don't even use a fingerprint scanner on my phone most of the time so I look for gestures to go with , which the s10e Location is better for me. Battery size might be bigger but you are pushing a higher resolution and software that might not be able to make the optimizations. I don't shove my face in my phone so it doesn't make a difference to me. The speakers are just far better on the s10 , they sound full and the boom box setup is impractical in everyday use. Especially when you can feel it behind the glass which is annoying. ONE UI is a far better experience even than stock Android for me.Your take on this review is horrible. People will use whatever phone works for them.

@Angel Montes Ambriz it's not just the software im talking about, although you can see their history for how many times they've made that promise before, but their batteries are horrendous, they do not last. They will need to be replaced in less than a year, the 4gb of ram is going to make everything sluggish, it's going to overheat to Oblivion and the phone doesn't even have gorilla glass on the rear so even if you slap the most protective case on it the back is going to crack if you drop it, which absolutely kills the resale value

LG is known for its high quality headphone jack. Many flagships have this, quote you. A feature is a feature. Would you walk up to a Pixel user and say your camera is wack because it's not as good as you RED ? No. Does that mean the user is a dumb ass buying the phone, knowing he can get a better DSLR instead ? No. The thing about this is that it's literally on your phone. You don't need to put another device in your bag just for music alone, and when you couple that with a good earpiece and the great OLED panel, it's perfect on the go. LG lost their originality, yes, but it doesn't detract from the point that this phone is just fundamentally much more than an S10E. Personally, I hated how this phone looks, but credit is due where it's deserving. I loved the V30 design, and I swear to God it is the best flagship to ever have been made if you flash it with Lineage OS. (Comparative to phones of the same time period).

I like this channel a lot but this is just a unfair review of a good phone. It's got good ergonomics, good battery life, good cameras, a good (high resolution) screen and the software is mostly fine. In my opinion the LG G8 stands between the Samsung S10e and the Samsung S10. So in that case the price is justified. Let's not forget that LG adds a dedicated DAC to the mix and 2 good ways of secure unlocking. (Fingerprint and Face ID).

Samsung audio quality sucks
That’s such a niche though. 95% of people don’t need a DAC in their phone since they’re fine with whatever audio comes from a streaming service and most streaming services stream at 256 or 320, and no casual listener will even notice the difference with ear buds or whatever crappy mainstream over the ears they have.
@@CinemaSteve EVERYONE who listens to music needs a DAC. EVERY phone has one because it's needed to convert the audio from digital to analog (that's what "DAC" stands for...). The human ears only can hear analog audio. It has to be converted at first.

And also i dont think LG got the right marketing and branding or just falls short in that department compared to the apple and samsung. Also a point for me is that LG's phones is relesed in the near price range of other big flagships, and has a hard time maintaining it self with the other heavy class phones.

Totally agree with this, found this video after three years, and as an owner of an LG G8X and V60 I feel pretty confident in my belief that they were great phones. Tech reviewers just want to make money it seems. I mean this phone was incredible at the time. Dual screen case? True Hi-Fi audio? Amazing support for external microphones and manual controls in the camera app? And this dude is calling it a master of none. Yeah, more like master of taking your profit away so you have to diss it. Makes me angry to be honest. It's dumb reviews like this that caused LG to go out of business.
@@LindonSlaght Yep I have a G3 V50 and two V60s, the V60 to me is the best possible phone on the market right now until LG has the V70 come out I hope and pray that they make phones again, and yep it's because of losers and stupid reviews and reviewers like this that didn't help LG at all and go out of the mobile division. :/ F him.
Still using my LG G8 right now to write this in March 2024. Its a great phone all around and some people think I still have a latest-model phone and impressed that I have a headphone jack when I go on flights for work so I can save phone battery by not using bluetooth while I watch downloaded tv shows and movies. I never had that stuttering issue seen in this video for the first 3ish years but it started to after several years later.
Its showing its age now, but performance has been doing great overall and its still a great phone. The only reason why im going to be upgradong is because the phone apps I use these days are extremely demanding and half of them are for work so it can make the phone get slow now.
