Very cool that you read the comments and that you also acknowledged doing something wrong and then fixing it. Kudos. Love your vids.
Comments really do help! Especially because I'm new to this chassis.
Can’t wait to see the day where it’s “building a porche in 10 minutes” all of the work you’ve done and all of the work you will do is gonna be worth it!!
Man, me too! lol
Couldn't hit 'view' fast enough - this sucker better light up today! LOL
Interesting choice of words…
It’s great to see the successes and failures. Don’t edit out the mistakes because they make it fun. Happy to see it progressing.
I make plenty of mistakes too lol.
Great to see your not cutting out the mistakes your making or the slightly embarrassing moments. The majority of the RUclips community is learning with you as you slowly make progress. I tip my hat to you.
Remember "Persistence" is the key. Good Work.
Thank you! Persistence is definitely key!
OMG, This is like watching myself work on my old truck. I get there in the end! Love the content.
Love you vids, keep going , very interesting whats gonna be next
Love the videos! If I might suggest, I think you should lower the music while o speak (for example at 2:00)
LETS GO! I love seeing these videos drop
Love the videos I can totally relate with the wiring -emblems….. I call them gremlins…..
@6:23 I think you meant to say "plug and pray." Love your videos
lol
Well done, all positive 👍
your vids and editing are amazing dude, very inspiring
Thank you!
nice man. i watched adam lz track a porsche cup car and i have been addicted since
For sure, a good start! Go ahead, looking good! Like!
Thanks!
Another real vid love it
You should check the coolant pipes on the engine block. They're known to be failing after all this time. They are made of plastic, but there is replacement out of aluminium available. For example from 9ff in Germany. Sadly for this fix the engine must go out. But it's a very common failure.
I think I'll wait till it fails lol.
@@matt13ross At least pressure test the whole system when it's warm. So you see, if it's already leaking or not.
I haven't seen any coolant leaks, thankfully.
Bypass the y pipe and pressure test directly at the throttle body

Your video thumbnail almost became a garage fire. ☠️
YUP
Another day another video. I love your Porsche content keep it up.
More to come!
totally digging this 996 content. saw the fuel gauge needle not moving and figured it was dead or not fully seated. i believe if the fuel filter was a quick connect instead of threaded that it would be a little easier to deal with. one of the goofiest i came across was the older saturn cars that had a winding poly line fused to the standard gm style cylinder filter that snaked across the firewall. they always felt like they were going to break with all the stuff in the way. i did cringe a little when watching ou tap the retaining ring down on the fuel pump. i have done this a few times and managed to break one once that way (looking at you, saab....) and now use either a large set of slipjoint pliers (misplaced somehow...??) or a metal bracket with "adjustable tabs" to fit the external grooves of the ring. mysteriously that tool is also somehow missing....?? no doubt gremlins...anyway, keep up the good work.
Idk why it can't be a simple filter in line under the car, EASY!
Always waiting for the next episode of this series
Have another one planned for next Sunday!
I love this series. Your Superman with the car diy stuff
LOL I wish!
Another 👍 from 🇨🇦
Nicely done. Its good to see you didnt edit out your errors too.
Plenty more errors to come lol.
great enthusiasm.........even mighty turbo has to yield
this has been my faviorte build to watch
Thank you!!
Great job mate. I would take photos with your phone before you remove anything. It makes it much quicker and easier when you need to put it back together, especially if you don't put it back together the same day.
Agreed, but didn't do that this time for some reason lol.
Progress!!
I can smell the gas.
Good progress!
Yea the garage still smells lol.
On our way to 50k!
Hoping before the end of the year but running out of time!
Great videos. I think you should have more subs soon... people are really sleepin on your content.
Always hoping for subs faster, but thankful for where I'm at!
Also factory intercoolers with plastic end caps are notorious for leaks. Switch to a metal end tank setup. Look into do88 intercoolers
Upgrades will come after allllll the fixes.
@@matt13ross I was referring to when you pressure test that the end tanks of the stock intercoolers are a known source of boost leaks. The do88 suggestions is because it’s a 700 horsepower capable intercoolers for a great price
Mine probably leak, I'll find out soon enough!
wait until you see where the fuel/oil filter is on a late KIA stinger haha, you literally have to take the engine out to replace it
NO THANKS! lol
The struggle is real. I hate working with fluids. Great series tho!
Thanks! Yea that kinda stuff is not fun at all.
Gen X here loving your content, attitude, attention to detail and choices of vehicles. Now let's let the smoke free that's trapped in the tires.
don't know about you blokes but I hit like instantly when I see a new episode of this build.
Appreciate it!!!!
@@matt13ross all good brother you deserve it! its very addictive watching this build, there's just something about it.
once again very excited for a new 996 video, thanks 🙂
I thought the same about the submersible fuel hose but didn’t comment cause I didn’t want to bitch ab it
If I mess up, feel free to call me out! lol
@@matt13ross well initially i thought the original hose on the pump was fine but you changed it out. Glad other people pointed out the non submersible hose.
Brother, you are awesome. Where did you learn how to do all this stuff? When you finish your 996, maybe you can tackle mine for more content, haha! Great videos man, cant wait to see that thing completely done and out on the road.
I learn by doing, and watching RUclips, and reading forums!
I did fuel pump on my 996TT it wasn't a pleasant replacement - as there was still gas in the tank :-) I didn't bother draining.
I should have emptied the tank more, would have helped for sure.
@@matt13ross I had like 1/4 left.
About the same I think.
Hey Matt, Won't the turbo intake ALWAYS show a small leak since at least one intake valve will be open no matter where the crank is in it's rotation? Even bigger if it's on overlap. Thumbs up, buddy! Ken
I think so, but I've watched a few videos where that wasn't mentioned. Who knows! lol
would you drive this in the snow? winter?
Totally! Want to make a snow driving video this winter.
Insane build (you, not the car at least up to now but your bmw is absolutely wild)
Love the E36, was just out enjoying it today.
@@matt13ross hope it was amazing🙏
You need to use a smoke machine so you can see where it leaks
I'll get there eventually.
The taillight tint really has to go. It would look so much better without it
Agreed but I have a lot of other priorities before tackling that.
You call this your “cheap 996” but with all the fixes (including some, like the fuel hose, that are redos) I wonder what the real cost is. I think it would be cool if you kept a running tally of money and time (research and building) you’ve put into this since buying it. Is there any truth to/how true is it the saying that there is nothing more expensive than a cheap German car?
Oh it's going to end up being expensive for sure, but the initial price was cheap for a 996 turbo.
W
Get the stock corrugated style hose from radium next time 😉
Too late!
@@matt13ross when you finally ls swap it you can change it out 😅
NO! lol
@@matt13ross You cannot fight the inevitable.
Listen when this motor or gear box gives out you need to put a k24 swap with turbo and drive that Porsche like it was meant to be driven ;)
I will not be Honda swapping anything lol.
I’m only watching in the hope that your gorgeous mrs will be in the vid Matt. Sorry. Keep it up tho!
LOLOL
you have the fuel lines backwards
Which ones? If that were the case, it wouldn't run lol.
@@matt13ross you fixed it in the video when you swapped the pipes
I have an idea but please don't take this as an insult.
Yellowbird was a RUF CTR driven around the ring by a guy born to drive. You were born to fix, mod and entertain much the same way so I christen thee Yellowturd.
LOL I approve the name!
Enjoy watching your videos Matt but got to Unsubscribe, just way too many adverts.
Gotta make some money on this Porsche somehow!
The fuel fildurrrr
big shout to the porsche enthusiast community for helping you @Matt13Ross and helping others like me learn!
