It was like a $25 seal and piece of mind with no additional labor involved. I almost refused to sell him the car knowing it wouldn't be taken care of.
To me, it depends on the car - and the primary issue. I had warranty repair to my 360 Berlinetta, and was approached to replace the engine mounts 'while we're in there'... ON ME, not under warranty. They should last at least 50,000 miles before repair and the car had only 15,000 on it. RIP OFF! You gotta know whether or not the items your dealer wants to replace should need replacement.

Amazing I have been watching this video and your project rebuild of the 997 turbo. I went through the exact same thing that you were doing but not on a turbo just a 997 When I purchased the car the engine had been blown. I sent it to E Megatronic In Hartford Connecticut. It was a 3.6 L and we had it reboard and now there’s a 3.8 L with race pistons. I also did a complete exterior so that it has all the GT3 Front and rear spoiler‘s. It seems we are following the same path and how we shopped. I also found the same front splitter as you did for around $500. I am interested in seeing how you complete your project as I just completed my project after a two-year project. I am so happy with my car right now it has 575 hp.
Did you supercharge it? 575hp seems a lot out of a normally aspirated M97 with just race pistons. Curious where you got the power from? I have a 997.2 with the 9A1 3.8L.
This is an exciting little video series. Looking forward to the next one! I'm curious how much this ends up costing all in all in the end as the 997 is my dream Euro project car.

Now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!!! (BABBVEN LAWS AND TEBBVEN ORDERS)!!
So what was actually wrong with the engine in the end? There didn't seem to be an obvious reason for the water in the oil even after the full strip down.
That’s a good observation, I agree. There wasn’t a smoking gun “OH, THAT’S IT” but it was a lifted/overheated and warped head, or internal head gasket failure. Being that we were able to narrow it to a sealing issue with #5, we can address all of the possible causes during the rebuild with decked surfaces, new head gasket (obviously) and better head studs.

You should definitely LS swap a 996.
996 gt3? Sounds like a plan!
Too much boost from a bad tune?
6:40 OH MY LORD I'd stop by every week just to see buddha
