Building Shelves In an Enclosed Trailer

  • These shelves are gonna be a game changer for me. Like I mentioned in the video I have previously had to store all of my bins and inventory in the basement and carry them up each week to pack them in my truck. This will allow me to keep all of my inventory in one place and keep me from having to handle it so much. Still some minor things to do like a strap across the front and whatnot but the trailer is pretty close to the way I want it!

Love the rounded corners! I am currently working on an enclosed trailer. Going to put cabinets and shelves in it. Like your idea! Thanks.

I like what you did, Hopefully your goods do not weigh to much, you want to balance the load left to right in the trailer, otherwise it will have a tendency to roll in the heavy direction. If that were to happen you may want to think about narrower shelves on both sides and turn the bins 90 degrees. you also may want to consider a way to hold the bins from the front to back for when you don't have a full shelf to keep the bins from sliding back and forth. All in all very nice start. I really like how you thought threw the curved part.

Thanks! Yeah the weight shouldn’t be too big of an issue. The open space in front is getting filled with white tables and chairs and the tent and a bunch of other crap I have for the craft shows. And all of that added together should be pretty similar to the weight of the inventory.

I’m a fan of placing jack studs between the shelves but that all depends on how much weight it has on it. Putting everything on just the screws is fine but jack studs that are only an inch thick can be glued into the existing legs. Probably fine unless you’re selling some heavy logs or anvils haha

Yes that is still something I want to do. Cut some pieces to go between the shelves and transfer that weight to the floor. I will definitely probably do that in the future to beef it up a little bit more. Wouldn’t be much work and I got piles of scraps

Great video! I am looking to add some shelves to my enclosed trailer and this was very helpful. What did you use to secure the shelf frame to the wall? i want something that will hold, but I am concerned because the wall material doesn't seem to be very thick.

I used 2 1/2” self tappers into the “studs” of the trailer. The frame itself

Where are you from? I would like some shelves in our trailer also. I go around selling clothes.
