if you continue like this with status report, this gonna be my favorite channel to discover games (well, if you do more games and not get stuck on one for multiple years)
Next one is definitely Barotrauma 2022 but we've got a general plan for the next few videos! Not all of it fits under the "Status Report" umbrella per se but can't wait to share!!!
Hey, dude. I really like the idea of a RUclips channel that checks up on the progress developers have made on their games. Obviously with early access games and the practice of games as service, this type of content is needed, and I've only really seen that here.
Thank you! I'm so glad you like it- the selection of games is small for now but I have the "old" footage for a few different games now and all of them just received major updates so stay tuned!
i think there is a reason why you cannot bring extra fuel and there are also 2 cans on top. Buzzard and his repo team comes after you die to collect your car and any supplies and would need extra fuel to return back to their base. the supply bags would take up the front, back and trunk space due to how fricking big the bags are and the colony really needs them in the lore.
Great video. You summarized essentially every point of concern and appraisal I have for the game. Being able to upgrade your character in addition to being jacked from mutations increases the pace of endgame gameplay compared to the start, where supplies are more scarce, enemies are more threatening, and picking your fights matters more. I can also relate to suffering from randomized environments, such as hellfires inside HERC labs preventing me from accessing antivirals.
I like that you have a way to "upgrade" and make the next run easier with gear and buy upgrades, i've tried roguelite games where it's more like a "full reset, now try to get further", I don't like them, I like it when there's SOME way to upgrade your "profile" for the next run.
This is relaxing and the gas rant made it genuine xD Have yet to play state of decay, but have been addicted to zombie survivor management ever since! Cheers! You got a good template for your vids. Hope you get popular
It's like in "the last of us". The character is struggling in a zomby infested area but "OH SORRY you can't take another medicine item with you your inventory is full" wtf
"Less precise more generic elements"? I'm sorry man, but that police car obviously crashed against the house. 😜 LOL I'm playing this game for the 'first time' (technically I started it before, but I bought it for PS4 and it was unplayable, so I waited for a patch). Now that it's playable I can say it's a great game; it's definitely remarkable how much they have achieved since the first game. Now I only wish they keep up with the patches (specially on consoles) and keep adding stuff. Great video, btw.
I would say this review is just about right! I bought the game and now have 40 hours, just completed the main mission and have almost all upgrades. To anyone who is considering to buy this game, I strongly advise you to do so. I am a big zombie/survival fan and I really enjoyed this one. Also indeed it does seem the developers care, since the patches have been spot and really improved the experience.
I've been wanting a series that specializes in this type of review - where you compare an initial release to the current state. This is especially true for games that get a deservedly bad rep on release, and then improve with patches (for instance, I remember looking for videos on Ghost Recon Breakpoint, trying to figure out if after a year if it was worth playing. I never did find anything.) I'd like to see a section of your video that details the changes specifically, but I can see how that would be tricky, since it would require either a lot of research, or you actively playing games day one and then revisiting them for your content.
I'm so glad you like the concept! It's definitely got some complications, but I currently have my eye on about 7 different games-in-progress and old footage for 4 of them. Also ideas for non status-reports that I reaally hope the algorithm doesn't kill when they come out. Aftermath hasn't visually changed TOO drastically, which is part of why I made the intro more about the similarities maintained in the evolution from flash game days- but the inventory/encumbrance stuff is taken from footage from around launch!
You should keep up the Status report on games. I haven't really seen anything like this on RUclips before and honestly it would be nice to get updates on games I may have forgotten about playing when they were early access or whatever.
Can’t wait for the updates to hit console… we still have gear insurance and it kinda sucks… I had 15 batteries one great run but got murked on a detour losing it all… safe to say I was extremely unhappy about it
I'd much rather complain about the o n e antiviral syringe limit than the fuel containers 5:04 His name was Quick Death?!? You can change their names?!? 7:44 Some of these blockers you can get away from by rolling I wish the stockpiles could be seen from any place on the map so you make the decision to go there KNOWING what you'll get from it. I had to take photos myself so I'd know. 9:02 Did you have a heart attack? 9:52 Zombies still beat your invisible body instead of the car, avoiding damage to it, surprised that hasn't been fixed
I remember loving the flash game(s, the first one the most, I think), but I found myself rather ambivalent after trying the demo for this one. It might be worth it to give the game another try.
I had a great time with it, and am planning on talking about it again at some point because they've put out another content update since this video. It's really interesting to play as a fan of The Last Stand, but if you're lukewarm on it you may want to wait for a sale!
I bought the game on day 1. The game states it’s optimized for Xbox Series X. It certainly is not. Background textures don’t move smoothly and the horizontal image is stretched. I was shocked the game released in that state. The dev states the console versions were outsourced to a third party and it shows. I didn’t panic though because the dev was getting the game back in-house to work on himself, but had issues getting dev kits. Now he disappeared. I feel swindled. I hope he’s secluded somewhere fixing the game. But the lack of communication worries me.
I'm definitely PC centric here- and I hadn't realized the extent of issues on consoles or I'd have directly mentioned it- I'll be sure to cover/follow up on this if/when I make another video on Aftermath
So I was wondering around and asking. But I assume the screen tearing and optimization isn't fixed on the series x? I actually purchased is awhile ago but immediately got a refund thinking it was just broken atm. Seem like a rouge like I would enjoy rn
Watching this makes me want to play union city, but the flash player new grounds make me download to play it is broken. The orange blindness bug. Prevents me from playing it past the beginning car crash area.
Holy hell.. Now that I did not see that coming.. I mean like what the hell? I didn't know that there was a Last Stand console game!? In all my years I've been wanting to see it happen and now it did cause I wasn't known about this.. Cause I've played the last stand games so many years since day 1.. But having it in the ps5!? Damn man.. will another game happen if it takes elements from all three games of Last Stand 1 and 2 and Union City? So now Last Stand Deadzone and Aftermath are both mysterious games to me.. been a huge fan of it for a long time..
I will say, since you're interested in getting it on console- since putting this video out I've heard some mixed things in the comments from specifically console players as far as performance/updates that are already out on PC not being released yet- so be aware
My main complaints/personal opinion is the fact that you’re infected, can’t create your own character, randomly generated maps, and anytime you kill a zombie on that location more zombies pop up out of nowhere. I wish this game was enjoyable, could have been better than How To Surive/Dysmantle buuuut, same same, but different.
I feel that- by the end of my time playing I found that I could get to the end zone with only 2 or 3 chunks infected, but in any long-form game that gives you an end timer it can get frustrating to deal with- it would sort of ruin the concept of the plot, but I wonder how it would be if you didn't start out sick but it was much easier to get infected
Is the frame rate really as bad as this video makes it seem? I can deal with sub-par graphics, but not stuttering or low frame rates... Is it just choppy/stuttering animations maybe? Either way it's no Bueno. If I wanted low frame rates I'd buy a console.
There were some performance issues that I don't think I can blame on my PC/recording software- though substantially fewer as they've rolled out patches. This is definitely "flawed but ambitious labor of love" territory. I'm definitely keeping an eye on the dev's next move as far as optimization on PC- as well as on Console, which hasn't gotten the newer updates yet.
