With around 200 hours in captain position all I can say is good luck and happy sailing fellow Europans (deaths of assistants don't count). Easily my favorite parts of Baro is when the crew finally understands their role and we start working together as a full team and well oiled machine.
the water prankster talent granting pressure resistance was really silly and fun, but i understand why they removed that part of it. it was pretty overpowered. im really happy with the talent rework too- having a selection of more basic talents to choose from before you go down the more specialised paths was a good design choice.
And then they add an item that literally gives you Pressure Immunity, No need for Oxygen and Hammerhead matriarch genes at the cost of not being able to speak (You legit only need a plasma cutter and welding tool for the zealot robes)
I've honestly been impressed by the game in a way i didn't expect. I can literally tell some of the creatures apart on the sonar at this point and that makes me so happy. Its nice finding a game that goes over the usual 4 player max.
A few advice, background music has intensity musics with different level of intensity, can be used to hint threat nearby, like creatures. Creature roar ambient sound also mean creature is nearby(the roar in the background, the one that don't specify creature)
I play with music turned down a lot of the time for recording purposes so that's super duper helpful to know- maybe next time I'll do a segment about the sound design!
Whenever there is a creature ambient sound, or the main music stop for intensity music. it's good to go straight for turrets. Super useful if you're the one who can't check sonar constantly, especially non-captain or the one who don't steer.
I mean the main issue the suits fixes the lack of oxygen. If someone passes out from drowning you * can * give them underwater CPR, but as soon as they wake up they’re just going to start drowning again lol
@@thevenator3955 And that's where the fun part is. Each time you "rescue" a person and put them back to their normal health bar you can farm medical xp.
Crazy to me that this doesnt have more views and even more crazy to me that you didnt go up nearly any subscribers since this video came out. Amazing editing and a very easy video to follow thanks for the insight on everything that changed and thanks for the personal opinions this video was great and i hope to see more consistent uploads and hopefully more consistent subscriber flow you definitely seem like someone that would blow up.
hands down my favorite barotrauma content creator sufe I love initial desu or the gaming nerd for their videos but I just like your video format and am always thrilled, when there is a new one to watch :)
They made a bunch of items useless or nerfed the shit out of it (Clown diving mask, Dementonite and Explosive flak cannon ammo) and made some overpowered stuff (Zealot Robes and Symbiosis). I'm pretty damn salty about some of these :)
As a true barotraumer with around 1056 hours on the game and most of those on either the engineer or the assistant before the 1.0 update for RADIOACTIVE WEAPONRY or just water pressure immunity I approve of this video. Here's a guide for the engineer!! Get 3 perks from the first skill section in the early game 1) Station engineer (for the sweet 30% more exp if you're gonna do beacons) 2) Grounded 3) Egghead After thar you wanteither 1) Fuel with fission 2) Aggressive Engineering or Simple Collection (you probably won't use aggressive engineering but if you have the ability to craft a modded jetscooter get aggressive engineering) This is where the fun begins!!! Firstly you want to go the weapons engineer path as your first option for those sweet nuclear accelerators! 1) Weapons engineer 2) i don't really have anything to say but you can probably go randomly and get the same outcome 3) Weapons artisan 4) Nuclear Option Your engineering should now be at 100 so as soon as you can get that fucking NUCLEAR ACCELERATOR THAT IS SUCH A GOOD WEAPON THAT YOU CAN KILL ANYBODY IN A PUCS IN ABOUT 5 SECONDS If you want to use NUCLEAR ACCELERATORS which are probably one of no if not they are the best weapon in the game if you have EVERYTHING required to use them that being the other skill tree Now this really depends on what you need so yeah! 1) Unstoppable curiosity 2) REALLY DEPENDS ON YOUR SITUATION 3) Danger zone (you get to have fun next skill) 4) Ph.D in Nuclear Physics NOW LETS ACTUALLY BEGIN THE FUN PART! First get a PUCS and start making those Volatile rods. Your crew is TOTALLY not in danger when you go near them as the Volatile Fuel Rods can give radiation poisoning but we can use that to your favor! Get yhour mastery quality Particle Fission Nuclear Destroyer of Life and load your Volatile fuel rods into your fucking laser cannon. Now be a good engineer and hand some of these DEATH cannons to the local clown with some Volatile rods in them. Don't be useful to the crew anymore as they cannot replace you and give the local clown a PUCS with the death cannon
I have the game but I've played it a grand total of twice since owning it, I have a perpetual fear of "long term commitment" to a game like this with so many instances of fail states you can almost lock yourself into via a save, that and multiplayer with the single feeling after-thoughty. It's a mixture of- I don't want to let anyone down, but I also don't want anyone else to let me down by just dropping it hours in too. It's a very prisoner's dilemma game.
I don't disagree that there's a difference between single and multiplayer campaigns, but I don't know that I'd call SP an "afterthought" - it just requires a very different mindset and approach to how you play (but can totally be off-putting I agree)
After around 5 years of development, barotrauma has finally decided it is time to release version 1.0 and continue development. LMAO If you bought the game and don't have a crew of 4+ game ready friends, you played yourself
I mean, would you rather they release 1.0 and then just vanish? The 1.0 additions cemented the game's broader structure, so now future updates can be more focused on fine-tuning existing features and fixing bugs. Seems pretty par for the course in modern game development. Much of my time playing has been spent either solo or with 1-2 crewmates. 5-8 is wonderful, but in my experience there's plenty of fun to be had with less.
There’s a difference between a game being released to 1.0 and a game being “completed”. As long as the game is still being worked on, it’s up to the individual to decide how much content is “enough” to be worth buying the game for. Also you act like having a small group of friends to play with is some super high bar that no one would expect to need. It’s a multiplayer coop game primarily, that’s perfectly reasonable
@@StandardGaming My captain friend gets really bored because he has nothing to do since he can't swap to mechanic on the fly... Now I "The Security" do the piloting just so he doesn't go insane.
@@TheStrayHALOMAN @TheStrayHALOMAN Funny enough, I had a bit where I expressed this exact sentiment which I cut for pacing- next time I talk Barotrauma I'll spend some time on it! One imperfect workaround is to have your crewmate's names on standby so you can copy/paste them- if you enable cheats in the command menu (hit F3, command "enablecheats"), there's a command ("control [NAME]") you can use to take over anyone- and you can give your friend admin access from the crew list so he can also use commands. Note that enabling cheats in a campaign permanently disables achievements in that campaign save
I liked this game and played it back in the beta, but now after it's official I bought it but not playing it mostly because the sub building is much more complicated or maybe I got lazy. 😑

How was the pressure immunity overpowered? Serious question.
It seems like all it does is allow the crew to save a little on dive suits.

Thank you- the goal was to make something that could work for both so that's great to hear!
Good video.
I agree that their ought to be a system in singleplayer that facilitates "respawning" of AI crewmen.

Awesome to see you covering barotrauma again !
Awesome video! sending this to my crew mates because they really need this lmao.
You can still perform CPR underwater without a suit, It's a safe thing to do as long as the pressure isn't an issue.
That makes even less sense than in a suit, and I love it- thanks for the tip!
