● This is the Maserati MC12 Corsa Goodwood Cent 100; A special one-off MC12 built in 2014 to celebrate their centenary at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The car is powered by a 6.0-litre, naturally aspirated V12 engine, which, due to regulations, was fitted with an air restrictor, resulting in an impressive 580 bhp!

Yup, one of my all time favorite cars, kinda sad that people don't really talk about it much anymore, it hasn't retained it's popularity like some other Ferraris, Lamborghinis or Bugattis...
same here, its worth to follow its Designer Frank Stephenson, he designed the MC12, Ferrari F430, BMW X5 (not my favorite), a lot of Mclarens and many more. He actually has a YT channel aswell, all about Car designing.
For me the MC12 is the best Supercar of the last 25 years. And one of the best sportscar ever for its stats
It looks and sounds a lot more like a hypercar. I wonder what the cost is.
Edit: Well it costs around $1m in todays money so yeah it qualifies as a hypercar.
@@myusername3689 theres only 50 road going and something like 12 corsa's and edo competition converts them into corsa's as well. I know of one for sale its 5.5 million though.

The Maserati MC12 GT1 is probably the most badass looking racecar ever. The only thing I don’t like as much is the narrow wing. I prefer the wider one.

Just because it sounds like that doesn't mean it produces more horsepower ...You are listening to a state of the art engine , designed to give maximum performance for less life time that a V8 . Anything within this engine has shorter distances to cover because it's crankshaft is "thinner" in diameter , which allows it to be lighter , faster and wear out way sooner . The specific engine is 6.0 L V12 naturally aspirated engine DOCH producing 745 BHP

Well there are multiple factors that define the sound of a car. It depends on the crankshaft type, engine displacement : front, mid, rear also if it's a V, an inline, a flat engine, how the exhaust is design, tubes length, material (Titanium, Inconel,...). It really is physics and how sound waves make their way out. This why the Lexus LFA sounds so good because they've worked with Yamaha's music department ! Maybe there are others things to add to the equation but I don't remember them all. Hope it helps !
As ToutouV2 says, multiple factors. Themore cylinders firing into one pipe, the higher the pitch, generally. MC12 has two tail pipes meaning crudely speaking, 6 firing pulses per pipe, as against 3 per pipe if it had four tailpipes. But it depends on firimg sequences, pipe diameters.
Comparing a 12 to an 8, means 12 bangs per cycle vs 8 bangs per cycle which will result in a higher pitch.
Akrapovic major in the sonic tuning of their exhausts and make the Lambo V12 in the Countach (rev limit under 8k) sound like an F1 car.
High pitch sound means more RPM in an engine . For example F1 vehicles were* using engines that could reach 21.000 revolutions per minute . V8 engines usually work around 8.000 , and Bugatti Chiron engine V16 is also working to that range . ( Were* = i mean when i was watching F1 before a decade , by now that could have changed )
Also smaller cylinders and a shorter stroke....
Kind of why crotch rockets sound like that, they are usually 4 cylinder engines with short strokes, which is why they can rip at 15,000 RPM.
More like 2 wound out Straight 6's sharing a crank. The 3liter straight 6 and 6liter V12s are one of the most balanced engines.
