- First time taking the kayaks OFFSHORE into the Gulf a couple of miles off of Navarre Beach, Florida to fish the reefs for triggerfish, red snapper, vermillion snapper, and many other species!
What an amazing day out fishing the reefs for the very first time in Navarre Beach, Florida! We woke up at about 3 a.m. to be on the beach by sunrise, and it paid off big time! The conditions could not have been any better as we launched the boats into the calm, glassy Gulf of Mexico.
Triggerfish, red snapper, vermillion snapper, and many others were abundant on the reefs and made for an awesome day of fishing!
I hope you all enjoy!

Great video!
Thanks!
I just checked out your channel and realized I've seen some of your videos. The How to Remove a hook from your hand video specifically, and a few others haha. Great content!
Nice video by the way
Thanks!
Nice fish bro
Thank you! Hopefully on the next time around I'll find a keeper triggerfish too!
Sweet video! I'll be there in a month.
Thanks! You planning on fishing while here?
@@ckwoutdoors yes definitely. Dragging the boat down. Try to get some action.
Was this video created in the month of February? I’m just trying to figure out if that’s a good month to go down with the yak.
Great job! Action packed!
Thank you! It was a fun day out there
See the notification immediately slides to watch the excitement of the fishing video
Awesome! I do the same with all of the fishing channels that I watch, too. Thanks for sticking around and watching my videos. I am glad to hear that you enjoy them; That motivates me to make even better ones!
I just bought a ascend 12t but I live in Michigan so still ice out here, I'm excited to try it out
Awesome! I fished out of a 12t for a long time and loved it! It is great for fresh water applications, and will get you on the salt occasionally if you ever make a trip!
One of my very first videos was doing a seat raise modification to make it a little bit easier to stand up and also put you higher up to make casting easier. Check it out if you decide you need a higher seat. It really helped me!
You'll have a blast with that yak dude. Congrats!
@@ckwoutdoors I saw your video and already made it!
@@zachford94 Oh, awesome! Now you just need that ice to go away so you can get it out there haha
@@ckwoutdoors what kayak are you using in this video? I just started doing a lot of inshore fishing in the same area, mostly in Chocatawatchee bay, but wouldn't mind being able to make an offshore trip on occasion too. I'm planning on buying a new kayak in the next week or two, currently using a Perception Pescador 12 but it's time to upgrade to a pedal drive. I have my eyes on a Hobie Compass 12 but not completely sure yet. Great video man, looks like a blast.
@@rossvollmer Awesome! Inshore is so much fun, especially right now with the sheepshead still on the bridge structure.
My current kayak is an Old Town Predator PDL. The new model ones are called the Bigwater, but its the same boat, just renamed. They are AMAZING. The perfect combo of stability and speed, and the hull shape is built specifically for cutting through the chop. Perfect for offshore. They are a bit pricey, coming in around 2500- $2800, but well worth it. They're durable as he'll and loaded with features, and I personally like the drive over the house 180 drives. Instant reverse by just simply backpedaling is a great luxury to have when you're on a big fish and can't afford to take a hand off the rod to put the drive into reverse before you smash into a piling.
Would love a gear review for what you use
Offshore and when your fishing for sheep around bridge pilings. Looked like your had some salty’s pompano rigs and a pyramid weight in this one
I did indeed have a pomp rig in this video! They work great for fishing the reefs as the hook size is about right for trigger and snapper, and you can add whatever weight you need to the bottom. In this case I was using 2oz., and the pyramid was a 3oz.
Inshore for sheep I use just simple Bird of Prey 1/4-3/4oz. Sheepshead jigs on 20lb flour leader and 30lb PowerPoint braid. I mostly use whatever gear I have available and adapt it to what I'm doing. None of my rods are very expensive or high end. I'm more of a "technique is more important than expensive gear" kind of fisherman haha
@@ckwoutdoors haha yeah I hear with kayak fishing you should never take anything too nice with you anyways, never know when you may lose it to the ocean.
@@davidgaylor5509 Facts. I just lost a phone last week lol
@@davidgaylor5509 I've always stayed off the flats in kayaks. A little risky when I've seen flats boats with 200's on them blazing by you
Thank you for great offshore video great videos as usual can’t wait get back P S L Florida or Fort Pierce do some fishing 🎣 🇯🇲 ckw outdoor 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 🐑king CkW
You're welcome, and thank you! I am glad you think my videos are great! I appreciate you
@@ckwoutdoors you kidding me you are the best my friend the best 🐑🤴🏼
Can I ask where you launched from
You can! We launched from Sand Dollar Pavillion on Navarre Beach. Type it in on Google Maps and it should take you right to it! There is a really nice boardwalk to drag the boats down that is there now. Not shown on Maps' outdated imagry, but its there!
Thanks, I will be in Destin area in may, this will be helpful
@@somsaycamify Sweet! Good luck. Destin is an amazing place, one of my favorites! I filmed a sheepshead video on the bridge over there. Great area!
