  • Just like most of us I was in the market for a wood chipper. I have a lot of brushes and branches around my property I wanted to get rid of, I did not want to burn them. so I turn to what most of us have in the past to a wood chipper.
I watched some videos online and how incredible wood chippers are made by many different companies.
however none of them showed the end result of chipping small branches leaves or anything like that.
I made my decision based on some of the reviews for this product.
this is a Jensen 1500 wood chipper.
I called and spoke to the company before and they insured me that the product is under warranty if anything wrong for any reason they would stand behind their product.
I was satisfied with the conversation I had with a person and I decided to make a purchase.
once wood chipper arrived the first thing I noticed that even though the unit was brand new it still had a rust on it most of the powder coating was falling off.
I should have taken that as a sign for the quality of this product but I ignored don't know why I did.
spoke to the owner of the company and he said that he would send me a spray can so I can paint all the rusted area.
I'm not happy with that kind of repair so I called the local powder coater and got some price on powder coating.
wasn't that expensive so I decided to give this chipper a try.
I'm so sad to inform you all that this chipper was a failure.
I could not run this chipper more than 30 to 40 minutes before they would get stuck or even the belt will jump off.
after spending about 3 hours with it I had enough.
there's more to it but I don't feel like wasting everybody's time You can watch the video and see how the whatcha quality is.
and the company is horrible there is very bad customer service they would refuse to replace my belts even though the chipper was no more than 2 days old.
I feel that I wasted my money and if this video can help someone else stay away from buying this wood chipper I think my time spent is worth it.
wish you best of luck with your wood chipper search thanks for watching.

Yours is a chipper with the chipping blades on a drum which feeds the brush material through one pass and then out. It leaves a lot of the material only shredded and not finely reduced. I would be very dissatisfied as well with what materials you ended up with. What you want is a hammer mill type shredder chipper. It has its chipping blade on a heavy flywheel where you feed the bigger limbs, say 2 1/2 to 3” through the side chute. The smaller brush goes into the hopper at the top and then the hammer mill flails shred it up. There is a curved metal piece with 1” or 3/4” holes that keeps all the material back, including also the material that the chipper section chipped up. All this keeps going around getting shredded finer until it is small enough to fall through the holes. I used a shredder chipper that was built like the description and it was a MacKissic Mighty Mac 12PT. With it I cleared up all the brush and limbs from about 80 trees, mostly white oak and some firs. It was a lot of work but I was impressed with how small the pieces were that it all reduced down to.

I would delete the above comment "Avoid this wood chipper at all cost and this company" .......................I have this exact same chipper which is set up correctly and it's been fantastic. Always remember to get the anvil gap correct and avoid any stone in the pile of wood ,because dull those blades and they are useless like any other chipper on the market.

    hi.
here is what you can do if you are not satisfied with shredder operation:
    1. check belt tension.
to adjust tension, loosen 4 bolts holding engine in place. there are two additional bolts to adjust engine position by turning them in clock-wise direction.
    2. check spacing between anvils and blades.
spacing should be 0.5 mm. adjust anvils to achieve correct spacing.
if you don’t have experience with described procedures, ask local mechanic, or shop owner, or people you know that might have experience, to give you some guidance.

Thanks for sharing your experience with this chipper. The rusting and bubbling going on there is shocking for a 3 year old chipper. These chipper shredders are expensive. Consumers expect quality and something that will stand the test of time for that kind of money. Its unfortunate that it only comes with a 2-year warranty.

You need to adjust the anvil its way too far away from the cutting blade.

It did what it was designed to do. It made big pieces smaller. For those that are trying to just make less trips to the brush dump this is a fantastic machine

I would definitely look into them gettin u a replacement shoot but honestly in the long run of using the machine the paint will wear on the high traffic areas so it could rub off there anyways but the rust bubbles is unacceptable. And I would say it's tow abilities should of been looked into before u bought it there are other ones with more substantial tow package for a truck. It's really meant to be pushed around .other than a little user error mines been great for over a year now . And your pile looked like dried or drying up brush that is harder on the machine to chip and for me I don't even chip stuff bigger than my arm for wood . And if it's hard wood or dried jsut don't even try but it chipped everything you had put in it just great. Also depending on what u chip that'll affect your quality of chips even the big chippers I've used have chewed out pieces of oak tree branches some stuff just doesn't chip like playground chips. I wouldn't let that make ur decision on how it chips bases on stuff like that. There definitely is some stuff it doesn't like chipping and can get clogged like really leafy stuff but again that can happen in a big chipper you gotta just experience what the chipper does best at and know what chips won't be that great. It's definitely better than hauling away brush

Read the manual and stop complaining. We have two units that we use where we can get a regular chipper and they work beautifully. We got the 2000 model with a Kohler engine which is more of a professional unit. The rust problem is just weird

Overall this wood chipper is fine if you adjust the anvil right but the costumer service is the worst.

you bought the wrong machine for the chip size and quality your looking for, buy an Australian made RedRoo CMS 80 it is well finished has a decent towing set up and has interchangeable screens right down to around 6 mm, its a chipper, shreader mulcher, Americans can buy it 40% cheaper then Aussies due to the dollar difference.
