This is what an incredibly talented polished band with amazing musicians sounds like!! There will never be another Allman Brothers band! So glad I got to see them twice!!
When you look back to his era, it simply doesn't get any better than this. What a jam! Thank you Johnny Carson This show highlighted many musical icons icons through it's 30 year run. This was long before the influence of today's biased times. Johnny would introduce his guest. They'd play. We'd either like them or not. Then, we'd move on. Without knowing it at the time, we were better for the experience.
I saw Greg Allman in a bar in San Diego that holds about 600 people about a year before he passed. I was ten feet from him all night and he sounded so sweet and strong. One of my fondest musical memories of fifty years of seeing live music. Loved this video.
Thank You Johnny C ~ uPSTAIRS where weir awl heading to re-unite w our friends ~ everyOne. Nobody did your job better Johnny, you made us laugh ) for 30 years. And as 4 The Allman Bros... Forgettaboutit kids. A Favourite memory is when we, Paul & Nanci, and the housemates piled in the van and caught these guys with Duane & 'Ace' Thom Doucette tearing it up on harmonica in a North Miami club. TY Guys 4 the memories.
Undeniably one of the greatest bands in the history of music. I'm in my late 70s I remember this band before they were even famous they played at all High School Teen Challenge dance. The greatest man set play the greatest
Played this over and over in my cassette player in my old car...was so thrilled they were back!! Love this song and love these amazing guys forever,...RIP Greg and Butch
I had the privilege to be at this show, chill in the green room with Don Rickles (evenings comedy talent) and got to meet all the boys and Tom Dowd. Great nite and a lovely beginning of a sweet touring relationship with the Brothers!! Many thanks for the upload. Where is the other songs? Maybe you could dig em up. Greg’s voice was super strong, and Johnny Neelys keys on point. ThT whole west coast leg of the tour was just DYNAMITE!! Be well🌊🏄♂️🌊⚜️🎶🎸🎼😎
I remember when this aired and was just pumped that they were back! Saw them that year at Coca-Cola Star Lake Ampetheater outside Pittsburgh. Thanks for the upload!! I've been searching to see this for a loooooong time!!!
I saw the show at the Greek the following night that Johnny mentions! I was 16 at the time, had grown up on this stuff thanks to my parents. I'm more of a metal/prog guy overall, but I appreciate any fine rock musicianship, and that remains one of the best shows I've ever seen. Great jam, thanks for uploading!
Yup, you're right! Good catch; wouldn't have noticed that myself. String breaks from high vibrato bend at about 3:26, and can be seen hanging down as a few quick thin flashes of light in front of the Marshall cabinet around 3:28 (much easier to see when video is slowed down to 0.5 or 0.25 speed). After the song ends, Warren reaches up to the headstock at 4:06 and unwinds the broken string, then holds it up briefly for Dickey Betts and drummer Jaimoe to see. BTW, Jaimoe looks completely bored while playing, just phoning it in.
Never get tired of listening to Allman Brothers. It's a shame Duane didn't get to grow old with his brother.

The earlier days with Warren and Dicky were just amazing......real tight and energized.
I cant believe this is live. Greg sounds amazing, band is tight and in more in pocket than a thief. Out of this world good!
Ok bands of today this is how the big boys do it!!!!
Absolutely fuckin right!!!!!!!

Been listening to the Allman Bros since the 70’s. Nothing like watching Dicky Betts play

Fantastic! The audience's ears must have been ringing! That sounded like it was very loud! Love this band.
No band did the dual guitar attack like the Allman's.
I am more of a Fender guy myself, but there is no denying a twin Les Paul sound.
Or the two drummer thing.
Amazing how the sound of their first track on this show sounded better than the recording!
Saw the Allman Brothers play at the Greek Theatre the night after this recording. One of the best shows I ever saw. Miss them boys.
I saw them the next night (aug 3) in costa mesa & the were on fire!!!
Me too for all them Cali west coast shows!!
Carson loved them! They would return on the show when Shades of Two Worlds came out.
What a Great Rock and Roll song! What a Great Band!

I was in that audience! RIP Butch

i saw them in columbia, sc in 2000 right before dickey left the band. i kinda hoped to see him with the ABB one last time, too...
I think they sound better with Dicky no doubt
Warren is the meat of this band like Duane was before him
I wonder why Johnny Neel didn't last with them? I saw him with them twice that year.
Careful ... listened while driving...before you know it you're doing 80 mph passing cars like they're standing still...lol
BADD ASS 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
RIP GREGG DUANE BERRY BUTCH 👍👍
Using the = sign = the cheesiness
At the very end of the Warren's solo, he breaks a strings

These newer bands are so pathetic and weak.........this is what playing guitar really looks and sounds like! Dickey and Warren........
