Regarding the oil filter. This engine was originally designed to be transversely mounted - making the oil filter easily accessible at the 'front' of the engine. With the engine being longitudinally mounted (as in the MSM), yes, it's a challenge to get at.
Removing the passenger side front wheel/tire makes the oil filter easier to get at, but I prefer to just wrestle it out from the top.
Having some rubberized garden gloves, and a couple pieces of paper towel might make for a tidier process.
Aside from the oil filter (I've dealt with worse), maintenance is pretty straightforward & inexpensive on this car.
I've enjoyed mine for many years, and just had to perform routine maintenance - oil changes, brake & clutch fluid, differential fluid, transmission fluid (a little time consuming), and coolant flushes.
These are incredibly fun cars.
Thanks a lot for the advice! I love my miata. Fun car and doesn't need much besides regular maintenance. Everything else was easy to do. Trans and diff oil was easy to replace.
You can add A/C to a Miata. I did it with my '99 from a kit of used parts from Treasure Coast Miata last year, installed it, then took to a shop to get it inspected and charged. I just bought a MSM, another Canadian car without A/C and it's definitely on my to-do list if I can find the kit again, or collect the parts.
That would be such a life-changer!

The video quality I’m general has improved so much dude. I mean it's legit perfect. Your voice is super clear and no shaky camera angles. The only thing I would improve on is the colour grade, but this was a really good video. Really enjoyed.

This was a fantastic review. Currently looking at picking a 2004 Mazdaspeed MX-5 with 46,000 miles but I really love my 1994 so I’m on the fence.
